I saw mention of a possible campsite by the gang before the Blackwater robbery. does anyone know where this is?

You mean the one in Blackwater?  Look for the camp on the south road leading west behind the beyond the Stables and you'll see the tent area with Pearson's meat wagon, Dutch's tent and phonograph, and Arthur's shaving kit.

it looks a bit like the rock formations south of valentine, but the land is more like the great plains.

I have a save in Guama and I'm ready to try the Bronte glitch to get rid of the snipers and try and leave the island, but what would be the best way to try and leave and get back to the mainland? I assume if I do manage to leave I would have to go all the way around Mexico?

Just did this last night, super not worth it. Headed north out of Guarma until I got to the coast of the Lannaheche,  across from Saint Denis,  I then proceeded to head west until I got to the top of Manteca falls, it was not at all easy, I almost drowned twice got to shore with a sliver of health left both times. Once I got to the waterfall I swam across the river and only once I had made it to the opposite shore did Guarma's water finally unload and the map on the.menu changed back to the mainland.

You have none of your items or clothes, the game takes them from you, when you die you respawn back in Guarma

Thanks for the write up, it's good someone tried it. Did you manage to check out either camp (Shady Belle and Lakey)?

There's still two things I would love to find; a New Austin glitch for Arthur we can do as early as chapter 2. And a way to glitch out into the rest of the map during the Prologue. I'm very curious to see how much of the storm affects the rest of the map and whether we can do any side stuff and save, but I'm sure to be disappointed I guess.

The storm affects the entire map from what I was able to tell. Using cheats I just kept spawning Arabians and rushing south and got as far as Cattail Pond before I inevitably died, but the storm doesnt let up.  The map isnt covered in snow or anything though.

I never made it out of West Elizabeth as some wolves punked the sh*t out of me and did the one hit kill where they rip out your throat. Neither camp showed up on the map though.

Some other things: Horses kept dying as I jumped on them, I eventually got one to stay alive.

Stable was weird and glitchy, horses show up in the menu, but are not physically there and you wont exit on your horse regardless.

The ambient Guarma drums would still play every so often

I could move time along by sleeping and it would advance until 7pm and then stop

But it depends on the dynamic weather, does it not!?

I am quite certain that I have been to that area many times after the epilogue and the weather has varied immensely.

True but like Oldsport said and from what i remember of RDR 1 it was always kinda foggy/wet there. I don't remember any sunny days, thought that's much thanks to the old Thieves Landing as well.

The old Thieves Landing always has bad weather in the area, its scripted to get rainy whenever you go there

Red Dead Redemption 2 has no scripted weather, it is all completely random. I've had rain, fog, sun, thunder and rainy fog in Thieves Landing.

The only difference is that you'll get snow instead of rain in the below zero parts

In the story, yes. But in Online I have the rain in snowy mountains :/
Also it rains every 3rd day like in GTA Online.

In story, the weather seems to be different depending where you are. What I mean, if it's raining in Valentine, it may be sunny in Rhodes at the same time. Online, when it rains, it's raining everywhere on the whole map at the same time.

Not completely true, Sandstorms only occur in the lowlands of New Austin for instance

Ive never seen it, but I'd figure it can only hail in a few places too

For me, if it’s raining in valentine, it’s definitely raining in Rhodes lol.

I'm back from my vacation, and I'm ready to get back into this thread!

I've decided to go back and continue my charting of the paths in Tempest Rim/Grizzlies West, Since there's loads of hidden paths up there. I feel like mapping them will help to tell us a story about development, and maybe we can figure out some things from it.

So this is interesting. Is this the possible original route from Blackwater to Colter?  Since John scouting ahead and Jenny being buried behind don't jive anyway?

I wondered if the original route involved this avalanche area and some other spots too specific to be randomly generated.

I'm going to edit my long rambling down to this. -and save the rest for the other thread where the discussion of the route belongs.

Aye, I am very familiar with that route and it is still probably my current 'favorite' for the correct path.

<I'm pretty sure you found our discussion thread and linked us to that there>

I just have serious issues with how the gang gets to Isabelle without finding Ewing Basin and or Hanging Dog Ranch especially considering the Pipe and Watch Cabin.

So I'm intrigued because this 'newly found' map area allows me to consider a route past Wallace Station that then leaves them heading NW to Colter while Micah had gone NE to Adlers and gives a better possibility that they avoided Ewing Basin and Hanging Dog ranch.

I think this ends up creating just as many issues if not more than I already have though. But I'll delve into that analysis in the appropriate thread. :) cheers.

Did they use any impossible sun positions in the screenshots and trailers like they did for GTA V? I don't have the game, so I can't check for myself.

Are you referring to the journey to Colter in the first cutscene? They don’t pass Ewing Basin or Hanging Dog Ranch. If you go into the map during that cutscene, it’ll show them outside the map above Spider’s Gorge heading south to Colter.

There is so much room for expansion, even in the current unused areas of the map. Rockstargames can easily bring out some 'area dlc' and set themselves up for a boost in player numbers for the upcoming decade if they chose to do so.

At the very least I hope we'll eventually be able to play in Tempest Rim and Nuevo Paraiso. I think it is a great shame to see all those beautiful regions go to waste...

Continuing from my last post, I present you more evidence that backs the theory of the unmarked paths connecting to the first chapter. Originally taking place around the Tempest Rim area, before they added the extra landmass in the Northwest.
