Red Dead Online will be put in place of GTA Online in 2017?

Red dead online must be great. No warzones like gtao. Cowboys dont have MG's, rocket launchers, hydra's, helo's etc etc.

If they pull that online only crap in Red Dead Online and fail on promising any kind of story mode expansion, I'm gonna be hella pissed.

i spend 2 hours in the previous Rdr online. Other online players would just shoot you on sight if you would gather at a mission icon. Rdr online was forgettable.

I think R* will export their cash card business model to RDR2. So making money will be tedious. R* will push again the pvp aspect.

Theres no reason to gather at anything.. in old RDR.

Did you play with auto aim?

Take two CEO cleary said that at some point they will let the Franchise rest for a bit. I would not be surprise if they stop updating GTA online for about 2 years prior to GTA 6. Would make sense if in 2017-2018 they will gradually stop releasing new content.

Ya... thats pretty much whats going to happen.

I can see this year being the last year for any sort of big updates for GTA O. Probably gonna try and squeeze as much money of out players as they can and then just leave the game as is. Probably get some expenisve mansions. expenisive tuners...maybe run some club business and thats about it.

Theres nothing more really to add to this game.. And this game doesn't seem like it can take much more. Its falling apart,,lol

Could use a co-op mission creator. Thats probably the BIGGEST thing missing from this game..

As a game dev/publisher needs to let the game die down a bit.. Before releasing a sequel. This is how R* does things.

I think people who think R* is gonna keep dropping updates for this game till GTA 6 releases are living in a fantasy world. It makes no sense what so ever from a business stand point to exhaust its player base before dropping a new game in the same franchise. Nor does it make sense to drop updates for a game thats NOT its main focus anymore.

The only thing that will matter in a year.. Is Read Dead...

Alls R* will end up doing is putting all their sh*t up for a super sale in GTA O. 75% off everything will be GTA O last update..

I honestly have no idea what they could do with RD:O that could be as profitable as GTA:O. Modern times just have a much wider variety of content that can be added without making the game ridiculous, and even if you forgo that, there's only so many flaming horses and unicorns that you can add to the game without it going stale. While there's no reason to doubt that RD:O will be a fun and enjoyable multiplayer mode, I just don't see it being nearly as profitable as GTA:O.

True that. I was thinking about that too. I bet the most expensive items at launch are going to be things like race horses, expensive clothing items, and a few propeties. But when everyone starts to get rich they might add farms, cattle, pets, things like that for you to spend money... who knows. Or they could do what some games do these days and make you spend money on keys for a chest that contains random clothing items, with the possibility of coming across with unique gear. Maybe not. I hope they have good ideas and surprise us.

For me personally this isn't even a choice... Playing a game on a horse or in/on a contemporary vehicle... Difficult choice... Well, not.. :)

GTA online will evolve in a 2.0 version and Rockstar can real easily create another Island to which u can travel, but have to start from scratch again... When you get back to Los Santos, all your hard earned toys are still there...

We'll get something like that IMHO... RDR isn't a replacement, it'll be a great game, but not something I'll play to replace my beloved GTA online...

There will be cars & trucks to drive, similar to the rosevelt... Somehow I see a slaughter with vehicles taking out people on horseback.

isn't gta online gonna go on till next summer?

if so then there might be a BREAK from updating it,but that doesn't mean it will end it.

Eh, I think the game would require a time machine. The Roosevelt and similar cars are a few decades ahead. :p

Face it.... GTA O has a few more updates and its done.. Its OVER...

Werd. The GTA community can't wait to trade their luxury cars, modded bikes, custom-engraved weaponry, penthouse suites, yachts, luxury jets, corporations, stripper girlfriends, and drug labs for Super Fun Horsey Time 2017.

GTA Online will stay well over despite the release of RDR 2. This is exactly why. We need to have all the great DLC's still for the people who don't like RDR and like GTA more. Such as News Heists, Aviation DLC, Mansions, The Nightclub DLC, and last but most definitely not least the Hunter. GTA Online DLC's will probably be what R* North works on while probably working on

GTA VI too. GTA VI probably will rlease in 2020 or 2021. 2019 at the earliest I'd say.

CORRECT

and fixed.

GTA Online isn't going anywhere. I guess it will get some more updates. After all, RDR2 is still a year or so away. Most studios have probably been working on RDR2 since GTA V came out and only a small team at North working on GTA Online updates. So i see no reason why it will stop now.

However, I do see the current version of GTA Online being left behind. By the time GTA VI comes out the PS4/XB1 will be struggling to keep up and Rockstar will need to drop support for it like they did with the PS3/360. So if you want to keep playing and get new content you'll need to buy GTA VI. Your character/progress should carry over.

Rockstar made it clear from the very beginning that GTA Online was going to be here for the long haul. They want to create an entire world and it is a way for them to monetise the series between major releases. It's not going anywhere.

Will most likely be very similar to GTAO & a nice refreshment for those who like westerns.

Does anyone realize how lucky we are that we even still get updates?!?

We're still getting updates because gta online is a steady cash flow for R*. That has nothing to do with luck.

That leak of Yan's about the Spring 17' end date seems very plausable to me; in R*'s press release about RDR2 they made a keen mention about the multiplayer, would make sense logically for GTAO to be put on the backburner for Read Dead Online. Last update in Spring, the ability to buy shark cards stays put as long as the servers do, R* wins (financially) on both fronts.

I think Online will always be up, at least playable. As far as Updates go, I can see them dwindling down. The main thing that is keeping GTAO going is shark cards. So unless Rockstar makes an announcement saying in the coming months, Shark Cards will be discontinued, there's really nothing to worry about. After all, they can't just shut down GTAO while people are still buying cash cards. Unless they can do a one time balance transfer over to RDR Online?

I hate to break it to some people, but GTAO and RDRO can coexist... The internet is pretty big, after all. That, and HUNDREDS of games have come out since GTAO launched, and it's still kicking.

They are completely different games so GTA:ONLINE is going nowhere. end of

Personally i found RDR dull as hell and the online doesn't remotely appeal either. Im sure im not the only one, so why would they drop a billion dollar sure thing money maker for no reason whatsoever

Well.. GTA 4 and RDR are still around... Same logic applies to GTA V.

It will still be functional... Shark cards will still be there.

Just don't expect GTA O to be the focus.. and get major updates once RDR2 comes out with R* working on GTA 6.

Same thing R* always does with games.. They move on to the next one.
