I doubt they gonna end updates on gta online because it has massive followers daily on steam there from 30k to 60k players in game and that is only steam.

Here's what's gonna happen. The release date for Fall 2017 will approach with nothing but an info drought. And then when people have had enough Rockstar will do a crappy Q&A explaining what the "issue" is and delay the game until Spring 2018. And then they'll delay it again.

 

GTA Online? I don't care what those idiots said, was it Zelsh*t or whatever one of those wankers- GTA Online's free content updates will continue until probably the announcement, or launch, of GTA VI. They're definitely not going to cut off support because a lesser game (it's not nearly as popular) came out.

 

But Red Dead Redemption 2 will not come out Fall 2017. When have Rockstar not delayed their games?

Nope. And that's why it won't affect GTA Online.

 

A little far-fetched.

 

The Red Dead Series and Grand Theft Auto Series both have their own fanbases and communities and I highly doubt Red Dead: Online is going to replace the stature of GTA: Online. Obviously there will be a drop in active players on GTA: Online just like when every other multiplayer game drops, but if majority of the active players are going directly to Red Dead: Online, the Rockstar Servers will still be receiving the players.

 

People like modern-day shooting, cars and cities.

People like Western shooting, horses and shanty-towns.

As previously said, Rockstar North produce GTA and RDR is produced by Rockstar San Diego. Two different different developers. I highly doubt one will replace the other.

 

Scag, RDR only missed its original release date by a month. Fall covers three or so months so I wouldn't count that it will be delayed. I would of hoped they learned their lesson since GTA and May Payne.

Did you know what I really missed at RDR. A Sanchez, cars tuning and a big city. After I stopped playing because the horse riding was annoying, every few seconds the horse got tired and you had to slow down. My only wish back in that time was a GTA with this big area and country side. Now we some kind of have it. Now I want more GTA.

I can see the logic on shifting focus and concentrating on one online game of this scale at a time, but aren't GTA and RDR developed by different divisions of R*?

 

It was my understanding that GTA is mainly Rockstar North while Red Dead is Rockstar San Diego. Sure, the Housers will be heavily involved in any new developments but the dev teams would be run by different project leads.

 

Of course, it's probably wise on R*'s part to slow/stop new updates on GTAO so the incentive for the playerbase to migrate to RDO is increased but i'm just speculating without anything to go on here.

 

Yup indeed...differend devisions...jeezes...it's like people think development of the new RDR has just started last week.

That Spring 2017 end date that Yan guessed based on nothing besides common sense seems more plausible now. I can imagine it being taxing trying to maintain and evolve both GTA Online and RDR Online at the same time.

GTA is their flagship game. RDR won't generate half as much revenue as shark cards do currently. I'm not worried. I'm excited for hooker/horse glitch though.

There'll still be Updates, although any major gameplay ones may be coming to an end. I can see them having something big come out at Christmas before shifting focus on RDR, and maybe even GTA 6. Would be kinda cool if GTAO's swan song would be Heists 2.0.

Rdr isn't a housewhole name like gta.


Everyone knows what is gta even ppl in their 40's i.e. Parents

Rdr is still new so yes there is a fan base but it's not large as gta or known widely as gta.


Gta online updates won't stop maybe till gta 6 comes around. R* ain't that dumb to pull the plug on something that is generating money.

Gta is the only game that still sells $40 or $50 after 3 years. So no it's not ending anytime soon.

 

I hope you're right. Red Dead will probably be good I'm sure, but it's not the same game as GTA, and there's still some very important things that need to happen for GTA.

Mate, gta is one of the biggest franchises out there. Its fanbase is bigger than red dead's, everbody knows that. They're not going to kill a game that's still making them tons and tons of money. 5's online will get updated until it doesn't earn them enough cash anymore.
