Perhaps a novice question, but how do those of you who play on PC (without a controller) drive/race? I don't know that I'd be able to do it without crashing. I remember older PC games where you would steer with the arrow keys, but I always failed so much whenever I tried.

I'm asking that myself the other way round; how do you aim, drive etc. with a controller?^^

I guess you get used to it.

^^ A very good question. :) I actually use both k+m and a wireless controller.

It's probably just me and my crazyiness, but I use the mouse and keyboard for driving/boats (in TP), and on foot (TP only in cover), but I use a controller for all flying (more controls at your fingertips) and swimming. I absolutely love the Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2--best controller I've ever used; other than the PS3 controller (also very good).

It's really just what you personally find easier to use; no other way to explain it. :) Both have great advantages for various things.

And yes(!) I would love to be able to connect up and play with so many great people that I've met on this forum. Jumping into a heist would be much easier, my Buzzard would be in third heaven, and we'd all have a ton more fun. :)

Would love to play with XpertThief (IMO he's not quite your typical YT'er)--seems like a genuine guy who just loves gaming, and heck, he has some of the best gaming commentary out there. I've always loved that aspect about him compared to other guys. Sometimes he's just downright hilarious, and watching him play GTA Online from day one (Thug Life, Bounty Hunters) was how I picked up so much "pre-knowledge" about the game before I jumped in myself.

I think I'm just used to it having played console (since Atari 2600) my entire life. ;) I was never good at PC games unless they were just click, drag, and drop games like SimCity. :D

Great information and insight ^ I like that we all have different styles and preferences. I had always wondered how it were done with GTA though, but I would imagine that playing on PC would definitely be an enormous learning and adjustment experience for me if I didn't have the controller. :)

^^ Atari 2600? :):) Respect! I go a little bit further back: Vic 20, then C64, then the Atari. :) Then the Amiga 500, and... :)

I wouldn't worry about m+k if you're good with a controller--it really is just what you're used to; one definite benefit of controllers is the fact that you have so many buttons in close proximity--part of why it's so handy for me to use when flying. It lets you do things I couldn't imagine doing with m+k. :)

Xbox is the only platform I can stand, Nintendo's not even an option for this game lol

I played this on the 360 and later moved to the One after Lowriders, I have this on PC too but..... Online's worse than LG there. I only got the PC version for mods :p

Not "downgrading" to PS. Sony sucks for one, and the community is a bunch of pricks who look down on Xbox..... worse than the Mustard racers. I love all the consoles except for the PoS console. -_-

I started gaming before Xbox or PS existed, but I never really liked pc-gaming (I like mostly drive-in games and I just can't do that with a keyboard). I went from Nintendo handheld to Nintendo gameboy, then Sega 8bit to Sega 16bit to PS... (And a few nintendo's along the way just for Zelda)

I have (yup, have, not had) every generation of PS.

When I wanted to upgrade to current gen I couldn't really choose between xb1 and ps4, each had it's advantages, but nothing was that much better as the other. So I chose PS because I was used to PS and was happy with it before. (Why change a winning team I guess?)

Some PC gamers even use a controller for GTA:O instead of their keyboard and mouse. I'm like wtf? I mean I can understand using HOTAS for some flight simulator game or something...

I´m on PC . and I do think that PC is still better than the consoles , for many reasons . First , the Graphics -that s obvious right?- , second: you can do other stuff on PC : working ,studying , internet , playing Games of course, whatever you want !

I have a Laptop , not a Gamer one .I was actually on the verge of buying an XB1 , but then my old Laptop was broken so i immediately needed a new one , immediately, like that day ! I went with a 2GB Radeon Graphic card , it s enough to play the game in Full HD & with high settings , but I only get between 25-35 fps . yeah it s enough , but definitely not in races (bravo , R* ! good job on that curb boosting effect ! ), the clock rate on my Radeon beeing kinda "low" (tried to overclock it , but I almost screwed everthing , so I left it :D )

I went from PS3 to PC and felt the need to buy a PS4 controller just for this game. I used to be all 'WTF who would use a controller when you could use a K&M!?!' But I find GTAO so much better with a controller, it's the only game I use it for because of how smooth driving, piloting & skydiving is.

Just last night I was testing the difference between K&M vs controller and realized without the controller we couldn't figure out how to change targets using the homing launcher, also couldn't find out how to feather the trigger so we could easily move while aiming (shift + right mouse + ASDW maybe?). It seems like there's more choices with a controller so I have a hard time going back to K&M even though I'm much more accurate with a mouse when it comes to PvP.

Overall I feel this game was designed for controller use, I never thought I'd see myself playing on PC with a controller though... I still feel a little ashamed to admit it but it's hard to deny it when my friends compliment my skills that are actually not skills, they're just much easier with a controller :)

Ps4

I play on ps4 because Playstation is my console of choice and ps4 is the current one. I've never liked the Xbox with the exception of some of the games. That's it. I don't base my choices on other players. I'm a Sony guy.

(Less cheaters then ps3 on ps4 so that's a plus. I played on ps3 until shortly after the ps4 came out. GTA came with my ps4.)

(Edit: gta is also basically the only thing I play. I own fallout/Witcher/battlefield hardline/dishonored/COD ghosts/destiny/ among a few others as well and a ton of cheap free games but again nothing holds my interest and GTA online is basically all I play)

We need cross-platform play.

I'm in favour with this. However in my opinion, PC should remain separate otherwise it would all go tits up with modders and whatnot.

I don't know either. Maybe there is something in the control settings for that.

also couldn't find out how to feather the trigger so we could easily move while aiming (shift + right mouse + ASDW maybe?).

For me it's holding the right mouse button and then just move with WASD.

I think it must be quite hard aiming with a controller. I just need to drag the mouse/cursor to the target instead of "navigating" to the target via arrow buttons or a stick^^

I agree with this (I'm sorry PC guys and girls, but the modder thing needs to be quarantined).

Xbox and PS4 need to embrace each other though. There could be so many people from this forum playing together, would be great.

Off topic.. I can't stand console exclusive games. I would absolutely love to play Zelda, Mario, halo games but I'm not buying every console.

I play on ps4 and pc(no gtav fo pc),i prefer keyboard + mouse for fps but driving and flying i like a control better.I started playing games with a pc GTA San Andreas was actually my first (didn't play games before the dark times:( ) but I guess I just got used to the keyboard. It really doesn't/should not matter what system we play we should have the option to cross play with each other :)

I've used things like that before but I don't own a PC and I don't think that kind of stuff works properly or for brand new games. I could be wrong. I have a Gameboy emulator and had a nes emulator on my phone. Still I miss me some N64 games and halo campaign. *sigh* ohh well. Maybe someday I'll grab a Nintendo again.. but not anytime soon.

it's definitely not as easy with a mouse but it's not hard to get used to. In a one on one with a sniper using a mouse I normally use my K&M too, it is much much better for shooting. It's nice that we can switch on the fly too.

Actually not that bad for me. I play with inverted aim, max sensitivity/acceleration, 0% Deadzone which for some reason shocks people(Inverted) and get questioned about it.

I sometimes miss my keyboard and mouse though, but not enough to buy a converter for my console, which would be ultimately cheaper than dropping a few bills on a PC rig.

Anyone but me own a vextrex?

HOLY sh*t YOU KNOW WHAT A VECTREX IS!?!

I played that in '83 on my dads knee when I was 2.

my parents still have it and they bring it out at new years...

I have PS3 first bought the collectors to give my PS3 the proper send off.

Then I got the ps4 version loved it and still do

Lastly I got Xbox one and pc since I like the game a lot I bought it again.

It really is a fun game.

Do you find yourself noticing graphical discrepancies? Not trying to start a flame war, just curious if PS4 has noticeably better detail in the way of foliage, particle effects, ect., buzzzword, ect.?
I do notice lighting is a bit different on Ps4 seems brighter for me. Xbox seems darker. Again could be my tv settings. Both play well but that's at least I see and grass is better in on ps4.I don't know why but the draw distance (especially for shadows) is very low on PS4. Who knows it could be my PS4 dying but it's really noticeable. Like 10 feet away from me in FPS mode there are no shadows on some buildings like for example dyanmic shadows such as windows or A/C boxes on the side of some buildings don't appear and will appear when I walk a certain amount of distance near a building. Sometimes the blood puddle effect/texture disappears when I walk away like 5 feet from it while looking at it. Edited by DS_NEO

PS4, because the biggest player base and best community. Also the most stable version and the only one rockstar care about (always gets first patch if patches are staggered)

Vectrex were the machine we all dreamed of but ended up with the much less expensive 2600's. Lucky because in the end the Atari was the machine to have. Right now I have some 30 vintage gaming machines but no Vectrex.

I might be one of the few who has played on all 3 versions of the game

Played 360 version, then bought the PS4 version, played that mostly

But with friends disappearing and a recently built PC and steam sales made me try out the PC version

After nearly a month on PC, went back to PS4 to help brother who just got into bikers and now struggle on PS4.

sounds pathetic I know but it's the little things on PC that don't show up on console and the frame rate is much better

Makes you wonder though, why is the game locked to 30fps on console? I think they could have got it to 60

I have mostly Amigas in ny collection. I was right in the underground Amiga scene in the late 80s. I'm going to say when you take into account how far advance it was compared to machines of it's time it was the greatest gaming device of all time.. Pretty impressive when gaming was only a small part of what it could do. Also among the 5000+ games on Amiga are probably 50 of the top 100 games of all time.

Bought it 1st day for PC because I'm to dumb to play it with a controller and I love freeaim with keyboard and mouse. Bought it again (used) for PS3 (our bluray player with built-in game console here) just to unlock the Dukes, Dodo, Kraken etc.

Will buy it again for XBO (incl. console) once RDR2 (nah RDR3 ;) ) will be on preorder - just for fun and to learn the controller use. I love the game, so why not go out and meet other communities and people, too (looking at you, Icant :panic: ).

PS4 is the majority of GTA: O players. Why would I downgrade to an xbone 1?

Because I'm on X1 of course :p

But uh .. Yeah, you've got a point lol. There's a lot of cool people I can't play with because most people here are on PS4. Don't get me wrong, there's some cool people on xbox, but most seem to be on PS4.

We need cross-platform play. I want to get a whole squadron of attack helicopters flying around.

How is the game on the xbox one are sessions ghost towns?
