Snesgamer83
I'm sure we didn't all start out as "masters" of GTA, now did we? I can remember back when IV first started out, I was a pathetic cheathound (I somehow had nonetheless been able to 100% SA, probably because I was so obsessed with that game), and couldn't even properly pass the mission Hostile Negotiation without them (and even then, I somehow failed numerous times). I don't think I had gotten the concepts of the auto-target and cover mechanics. On my latest playthrough, I blazed through that mission. Not quite sure what was wrong with my younger self, would be fun to have a shootout with him to see how easily I would slaughter him now, lol. j7n
Having a hindsight, knowledge of future events during a mission allow me to feel secure and solve those missions. At first I always tried to push my car to go at top speed, and I would crash, fall of my bike, or be taken out by police, or I would encourage the AI to rubberband to higher speeds that I can never handle (chase missions), or run out of fuel in flying missions. Now I most often hold back my speed, thus giving myself more control and often more time.
RogerWho
With IV, when I got a 360 controller. The game was a pain with keyboard and mouse and was suddenly made much more playable In SA, not sure if there was a specific point but after some time I was able to do gang wars without any difficulty (apart from actually finding gang members to attack). Although that wasn't much about skill rather than getting used to the game's crappy controls and having the appropriate stats go up. Same goes for driving. At first it was utterly terrible, later it was just terrible. Edited October 20, 2016 by RogerWho
Osho
My experience has been hardly challenging with any GTA to date. So, I would not use GTA Series as the benchmark to judge my "gaming skills" and talk specifically about when I mastered any thing in GTA when the game never proved challenging enough to test my skills in the first place. Its been annoying many times, but mainly because of the game cheating on me, which simply means learning from trial and error as the only way to succeed. B Dawg
During my early IV Multiplayer days back on PS3 (I only tried out multiplayer after completing the story a time or two, and figuring out how to connect my ethernet cable to my PS3) For a little while I was an auto-aiming peasant yokel until I stumbled upon a nice video showing how to rek people in Free-Aim. luishernandez
i used to play san andreas on my phone for almost 2 years and only started playing it on pc recently. i sucked at driving etc, but after i reached the desert missions my skills increased alot. i can now navigate easily in grey hell, i know most exploits in the game, i got the hotring a and hotring b without cheats and i got the andromada and fp/ep rc baron fairly easily. after my 4th vice city playtrough i got pretty good at it in my opinion. i know all bribe, weapon locations and also all hidden packages, stunts and rampages etc
Gnocchi Flip Flops
With IV of course. That game was full of learning curves, especially when it came to driving. With how much I played that game I became pretty good at a lot of sh*t. Especially when it came to MP, tracking down whoever killed me or blew up my car and griefing them and getting away with it. Algonquin Assassin
GTA IV's superior shooting and driving physics over the 3D era made me a much better player I feel.
TheHumanIsland
Honestly, GTA III was so brutal, and Vice City somewhat in some missions as well, that anything after that was pretty f*cking easy.
