Any Xbox One games to recommend?

Acky.

I'm quite a fussy gamer when it comes to the types of games, but I'm looking for some to bolster my games rack.

Is there any games that stood out for you that you would recommend to others?

Xbox One only, as I do not game on desktop (I only got a tacky ASUS laptop to do uni work with).

The Forza series is great, if you're into cars. Forza Motorsports is more of a traditional racing game, with tracks, and laps, where Forza Horizon is an open world racing game where the world is your track.

Yeah, I've played the first two but I've been quite reserved with purchasing the Horizon 3; is it worth it?

Played Forza 3 & 5 but wasn't entirely convinced with 5

If you're looking for a good mixed genre FPS single player story with heaps of atmosphere, and critical acclaim, above par graphics, genuine voice acting and engaging story, I would highly reccomend Metro 2033 and the sequel.

Tracksuit Hitman

I have only recently bought an XBOX One myself (couple of months ago) so the games that I've had have mostly pretty much been the ones that stood out the most. With that being said, out of the games I have played, I would recommend:

- Gears of War 4. Very good campaign and outstanding multiplayer. It's a must have IMO.

- Rise Of The Tomb Raider. An amazing game all around. I can't compare it to the previous instalment though as I haven't played that one (yet).

- Fallout 4. Everyone has either heard of Fallout or played it. Fallout 4 is one of the most outstanding RPG games out there and is another must buy IMO.

- HITMAN (2016). Go with the Full Experience pack because it's cheaper than buying each episode. The game is constantly updated with Elusive Targets and Escalation missions. The next episode and the season finale is to be released near the end of the month and season 2 has more or less been confirmed.

- Battlefield 1. Battlefield is a must buy for anybody who enjoys quality multiplayer action. IMO the multiplayer in Battlefield since Battlefield 4 has been more quality than Call of Duty's (which is sadly slipping). The campaign seems awesome from what I've played during a trial too.

- EA Sports UFC 2. Who doesn't enjoy beating another guy senseless? I prefer Fight Night because I prefer boxing to MMA but this is the closest thing and it's just as good. I'm not a fan of sports games but UFC 2 is amazing and so much better than the previous instalment.

- Tom Clancy's The Division. Preferably if you're into playing with a friend or two because the game gets a bit repetitive and thus boring after a while flying solo.

Played majority of these games, but I'll have to look at Metro 2033, GoW4 & the rest of Hitman, I only purchased the first two episodes of it!

Algonquin Assassin

If you're into sci fi/time travel Quantum Break's pretty good IMO and it comes with a download for Alan Wake also.

I hope you do enjoy Metro. It's a really polished game. The Redux version can be picked up cheap enough. It got the two games for next to nothing in an Xbox Sale.

I would second Hitman. Its one of those games that makes you feel accomplished and like a boss when you sneak in to a building armed with lots of security, kill or subdue the guards and hide the bodies, steal their uniform to gain access to the target and then make a chandelier fall on their head a make it look like an accident. Multiple ways to approach missions. If you like a game where you can e patient, soak up the environment etc, it's really fun. EDIT (just re-read your post and see you played two episodes all ready).

Just Cause 3 is fun for mindless action and explosions with a huge map, helicopters, boats, cars, parachuting, planes, explosions, lol.

I think the best game out of the recommended games is Fallout 4. It's amazingly bizarre, often times darkly humorous and outright funny , quite gorey and can fuse genres. It's one of the most unique gaming experiences you'll have. I don't think watching trailers or screenshots does it justice. The world has to unfold in front of you and everything makes more sense in it's context. If you want bang for your buck, I would go with that. You'll never do everything there is to do. If you like exploring, finding "hidden" places, stealing people, lock-picking, character customisation and evolution then you'll like Fallout.

Also helps us to know what games you've liked in the past or what you like about games.

On another note, I used to be fussy with games too and some times taking a risk and playing something out of your comfort zone can be quite rewarding. I know new games can be expensive but Xbox One is out long enough that you can pick up some decent second games for cheap enough. I used to only like games based on realism visually, hence loving GTA (no sci-fi elements etc) but games like Fallout build a world where everything makes sense, it has a place. The world is deep and meaningful and can make you think philosophically about our existence, you'll make hard decisions etc.

On the topic of Fallout, FO3 & New Vegas are currently on sale as backwards compatible games. Definitely worth the money.

Shame on you guys, missing the flagship franchise! Though I suppose that says something about how well 343 runs the show now.

Seriously though, between the remasters and the BC, you can play all of the Halo games on the console now. The Master Chief Collection's multiplayer is unfortunately dead, but it's still worth the money for the campaigns alone. Halo 5's multiplayer on the other hand is very much alive. Lots of meaty free updates with an above average lifespan projected for the foreseeable future. I didn't like 5's gameplay very much and the initial MP selection coupled with a really bad story turned me away from the game, but I know I'm in a minority on that. Most people seem to consider it the best MP since 2. And then, there's Halo Wars 2 coming early next year.

So yeah, 343 miss as often as they hit, but there's still a lot of good stuff in the franchise.

If you enjoy first-person shooters and wide-open sandbox games, especially Assassin's Creed and Red Dead Redemption, Far Cry 4 is a great choice. And if you like that one, check out Far Cry Primal too!

That brings me to Assassin's Creed. Unity is a very flawed and polarizing game, but Syndicate is awesome. Great setting, fun story and characters, and lots of fun stuff to see and do.

If you like RPGs, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt's reputation is well deserved. I haven't played that far into it yet (god I have a massive backlog), but I can already tell it's something special.

As far as sandbox crime games go, GTA V on XB1 is so, so much better than it was on 360. Still has some of the same flaws, but the updated graphics and soundtrack are just amazing, and there are so many little tweaks here and there, from more cars on the street to new wildlife, that make the world feel much more alive. Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is fantastic, the graphics aren't that big an update from the 360 version but the framerate, especially during cutscenes is so much better, and it has all the DLC, so you can't go wrong. And if you like your games a little wackier, Saints Row IV is a blast, and the XB1 version packs in Gat Out of Hell for free. I haven't played that one yet, but can't wait.

And seconding the mentions of Halo, Tomb Raider and especially Fallout 4. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Rise of the Tomb Raider are both gold (this might get me some dirty looks but I actually prefer them to the Uncharted games, and I freaking loved Uncharted), and Fallout 4 is just amazing, especially with the mod support. Vanilla F4 is pretty solid from what I've played, but it's freaking insane with mods.

Oh, and if you like first-person shooters at all, Doom '16 belongs in your collection. You can play pretty much every Doom game except Final Doom and Doom 64 on XB1 thanks to BC, and the 2016 game is a complete and utter blast. And then that brings me to Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. Amazingly fun and detailed first-person shooters with a surprisingly solid and even moving storyline.

Judging by the 'glowing' reviews on the Xbox Marketplace, Horse Racing 2016. Look at these 'stunning' graphics.

Definitely going to spend my electricity money on this. Skyrim Remastered killer indeed.

By the way this is a joke. I hope Microsoft remove this piece of sh*t. Belongs in the indie section on Xbox 360.

Gears 4 is the sh*t atm, both in campaign and multiplayer.

but I know I'm in a minority on that.

lol no you definitely are not.

Batman: Arkham Knight is pretty good providing you somewhat understand the mythos of the franchise and don't mind lots of Batmobile gameplay.

Mad Max is also pretty good but to get the most out of it you'd need to be a fan of the franchise really. It has a lot of side activities though they can be repetitive. It's really the car combat and environment that make the game.

Essentially both are pretty good if your already a fan of the franchises, but they can still be fun on their own if you wish.

Yeah, every time when a new console releases people (and me as well) think that this new console will only feature high quality AAA and indie games. And then games like this and Pro Skater 5 come.

OT: Forza Horizon 2 & 3 is a must.

Also: GTA 5, AC Syndicate, AC4 Black Flag, Sleeping Dogs Definitive, Mirrors Edge Catalyst, Tomb Raider 10 + Rise of The Tomb Raider.

Hey how about something unusual? Life Is Strange, Murdered: Soul Suspect or The Wolf Among Us?? Just throwing it out there not just because they are all good but also since all the tips revolve mostly around shooting stuff. Even the Xbone has some other stuff to offer :sigh:
