Kind of surprising, because it could lead to logical sequels as the protag matures. Also, of course, more of the player base would identify with him (or her). (BTW, Jack Marston didn't work. At all.) I'm thinking of a young protag that grows up around an outlaw gang, either a son or a nephew or something, learns the outlaw life well, learns to hunt and lives off the land, the fugitive life, gets to be a skilled outlaw with a reputation, and then the game story is probably that he goes on a lifelong journey of vengeance (and of course more outlaw stuff) after his outlaw father figures in the gang all get killed.
