Make San Andreas Great Again

Gauging interest since I know GTA could use new stuff, but trying things differently makes stuff 'kinda' new.

 

This is about Free-Aim Heists, not PvP.

 

Coming from a BF and CoD background (as a significant amount of us are), the first person, while wonky, is decent for a GTA FPS in free-aim. Now I know, "But GTA ALWAYS HAD LOCK ON TARGET DUUDE", but PC didn't. I understand mouse & board makes it A LOT easier.

 

But so does lock on. It's that ease that (personal opinion) makes lobbies so dangerous. Makes us so deadly in missions. And as my GTA Online career has gone, made the game a *bit dull when it comes to action. But I'm a realism kinda guy (I figure some of you are, too). That's why I prefered BF over CoD. That's also why you can find me stopped at red lights, or taking a cab to the impound (when I don't feel like scratching my car driving like those Russian videos).

 

I've gone back to playing exclusively in free-aim because of this. And I get attacked less. Swatted outta the sky during Organization work still, sure (R* really needs to buff the Savage), but makes me feel like I earned that 20+k for stealing the Titan.

 

I bet I'd feel extremely satisfied robbing Pacific Standard in the same manor. What's your opinions, because I'm really curious on where the free-aim heisters are at? I know you guys exist.

I don't get why you're this obsessed about realism in GTA of all games, I actually commend some fundamental realism like more dynamic traffic and vehicular crashes and what not that GTA IV had, but stopping at a red light? That's such a weird thing to do since you're practically a sitting duck for other players, you don't get rewarded for obeying the law either so it's pointless as well.

Rewards for self is what I enjoy. As one of my favorite tubers would put it, "Immersive as f**k!". But then again, I bought an Xbox One for the sole purpose of GTA first person, in anticipation of VR. There's no way to play the game wrong (without cheating/hacking), it just happens to be my odd tasting cup of tea.

Games that are not developed for VR don't play that well. It's like looking at a big screen rather than being in the game.

I'm all for free-aim but I won't go to free-aim (despite being quite good at it from my RDR days) until those cops also have free-aim. I want them to miss their shots. I want some of them to be better than others at shooting. I want cops to take some time to arrive at your location and not f*cking spawn in your own car like they got a portal seat gun or something. If we're doing heists on FA I want the cops to act like cops, not robots. I doubt they'll run straight at me with no cover in sight. No cop in the world is paid that much.

Oh, and I also want free-aim players to stop using the minigun and RPG in fights. That made me stop going in free-aim. What's the point of FA if you're going use cheap tactics like that? Props to FA players and the FA community but sour experiences left me hating them for being a "higher moral ground" attitude but still be dicks in-game. That would be like beating someone in a drag race with winter tires on but they still use NOS. Not wanting to start a FA vs AA fight cause that's been done so many times before but if this game offers the option then it should balance itself when changing targeting system. AA as of now is okay (not perfect) but FA is f*cking broken with the access of dumb weapons and super cops. Sorry for derailing FA Heist thread into another angry rant about FA as a whole.

Spot on. You're totally right about the cops. Though I feel they did a decent job with that through the difficulty settings (imo, it works decently for an FA job rather than just being a $ boost in AA).

 

purevil101 - I would hope R* is developing 6 (if they even are yet) with that in mind. Or optimization like they did porting from prev to next-gen.

Also agreed with livejoker...in freeaim you either have ultra elite that demand you fight them at any range with an special carbine only or, most of them...use the OP weapons that are even more OP in freeaim because "f*ck balancing"

Also, I'm not into Free Aim PvP since FA Assist and FA Full are mixed together. That's just...ridiculous. Also, with game mechanics such as the ones found here, it's often easier to just walk up and pistol whip someone if they're using a weaker weapon combined with FA Full.

 

Anyway, I too am not trying to turn this into a FA rant, so continue on.

 

In addition, war games aren't really my cup of tea, but I do appreciate realism and the fact that you've found something enjoyable here, OP.

When I can't be f****d to care about fair fights, I resort to Police training. Pull out the bigger stick. But to think those elites can't be bothered to headshot cop after cop in a Heist, makes me remember they're not that elite. More elite than I, but.....

As far as the thread title vs thread content, while genuine and well-meaning, it's another free-aim master race thread. It's civil now, but it'll turn ugly and probably get locked, as these threads often do...

It's more of, "what do you think about using FA in Heists to freshen things up [if you don't FA] along with adding a degree of difficulty?" thread. Deathmatch and kill each other however the f**k you want. I just wanna hear opinions on FA heists, nothing more really.
