  1. 1. When in "Fall 2017" will RDR2 release?

I think just about everyone by now should know that a Fall release time frame really means a Spring release the following year. They had to produce a time frame for an estimated release to get people excited with the pairing of the trailer, but realistically, there is little to no chance it gets released in Fall 2017. The only chance that would happen is if they produce an early Fall release date, and by a miracle, it only gets pushed back two months.

I'll guess April 17, 2018, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a May release date.

Redemption had trailers back in 2005 - 5 years before it released. So I get the feeling this will be delayed.

Redemption 1 also had a horrible development cycle according to those documents in the Benz lawsuit. Hopefully it's different this time.

Spring 2017 ;)

Maybe.

Depends on how long they've been working on it. If they started after they released V for CG (or maybe even PC), it'll probably be a while.

If they said Fall 2017, the last thing Rockstar will do is push forward the release date. It's a company known for delaying their products lol.

Even if the game was perfectly ready by Spring 2017, a products launch date is never moved forward after they have committed to a date for multiple reasons.

Not really, in 2005 they showcased a tech demo of a "old west project" for the simple purposes of demonstrating the PS3s power. The purpose of the footage was not to announce a new game, nor has Rockstar ever said it was a game they were working on, it was merely meant to be a tech demo. Of course, with the reveal of RDR, that 2005 footage was very likely very early works (most likely brainstorms) for what would eventually become RDR.

Red Dead Redemption was officially revealed in May 2009, released in 2010.

L.A. Noire on the other hand is indeed a game actually announced in 2005, only to take its sweet time and come out in 2011.

Anyways, IMO, this time Rockstar is going to stick to their "Fall 2017" schedule... only because the game looks pretty complete, it looks as if they've been working on this game for a long time and took their time to announce it. It's not like GTA V which was really prematurely announced.

I think it will be released some time towards the end of November, maybe December. They'll probably force the limits of what constitutes Fall ;)

Union actors are now on strike against the video game industry, including Rockstar. This would stop motion capture and voice work on RDR2 unless the game was considered to be "in production" before February 17 2015, in which case it can continue. The GTAV actors said they worked for three years, so it's possible RDR2 is exempt. On the other hand, Rockstar has in the past declared a game to be in "full production" when they have announced that it's their next release, because this announcement, like RDR2's announcement this week, signals the beginning of the last year of "crunch" or "polishing" when the game is substantially complete and playable but the whole company is brought in to help finish it for release. Perhaps Rockstar will comment on the game's status due to the strike via Take-Two Interactive's next earnings call.

Oh no

I voted November 2017 because it appears, as well as I'm hoping, that Native Americans will have a stronger presence in this game than they did in RDR1. If they are, then I could see this game getting released in November since it'll be Thanksgiving and we all know about how Thanksgiving got started.

I've got a feeling that there is still *a lot* of voice acting to be done.

My impression of Rockstar is that they shortchange the final story and script. Aaron Garbut has even said in an interview that they build the world first and then brainstorm the missions / story (I'll find the link if I can, and paste it here).

I think that's a fine process, but it means that, like GTAV, you can create beautiful trailers, and be "in full production," with a script probably only 25% done, and story sill being brainstormed.

Here's my link to the voice actor strike story.

29th April 2018 - 10 years after IV came out

That'll be the year of the IV remaster, if there is one. I doubt we'll see two AAA games from them in one year.

Given all the slack time Rockstar has had since GTA IV EFLC, and the next gen console release, we could logically wish that they've been working on the GTA IV graphics upgrade (and maybe even a compatible Online mode) for about 2 years, and it could be released this year. But a wish is only a wish.

Rockstar don't use known/famous actors so I don't they'd be affected.

Anyway, I don't think R* are the kind of company to take kindly to strikes. If someone strikes they'd probably fire them and hire someone else just to prove a point to others

Well, the gist of the strike is to provide royalty payments to the unknown, "middle class" actors, who precisely are the ones who don't have any power against the big media companies. They're the actors who really need union solidarity.

I agree that Rockstar would probably fire any actors that push back on them, and make an example. The bigger the company, the more likely they are to be assholes.

And I could easily believe that the NYC HQ management are all well-practiced assholes, who only care about cutting costs and maximizing shareholder value. They would consider art, actors and gamers/customers to be nothing but necessary annoyances. The reason we all love GTA and RDR, though, is that the artists (i.e., Aaron Garbut's team) do get a free hand to build incredible games. That's where the magic is.

I doubt we'll see a remaster.* - Sorry for correcting you.

Fall 2017 > September is too early.
Wiki said that R* usually release their games in two gaps: spring and autumn from October to November.

October: 10/17/17 seems for me too cool date!
So hot and pretty for eyes, so I want to bet on it
:r*:
and yes, it's Tuesday ^_^
