Finally some exciting news, after Watch Dogs 2, I have no pre-orders or other games I'm excited for! Can't wait to see if that leaked map is real or not. Little surprised on the name, I expected "Red Dead Retribution, Revolution" etc. I hope it's one of the best most replayable games of all time because there is a good chance this will be the last Rockstar game we get this console gen at the rate their going.

I think everyone Seriously can't wait to see what it looks like and what they've done. I actually have some hope in the fact there's two main studios now, if San Diego does SP and North does Online, this might be really good. North had the issue of being the lead dev of GTA and its Online at the same time.

I think Dan Houser is a better writer on Non-GTA stuff, i think with GTA he gets kind of lazy, but i think with Red Dead he is going to show some great writing

I don't know how relevant it is , but during Mafia 3's development, I remember Hangar 13 saying they weren't quite ready to reveal the name of their version of New Orleans. Time to coordinate with Rockstar (Another Take 2 studio)? unlikely, but possible.

Rockstar and 2K never had synergy or share resources both having 10 and 9 game studios respectively, plus the RAGE have never be used by 2K despite both being owned by Take-Two, sadly Hangar 13 will either suffer massive layoffs or get shutdown and 2K will leave multi-genres to Rockstar Games, while focusing on Sport titles, Civilization, X-Com, Borderlands and BioShock.

I find it impossible to believe that "leaked" map is real. It's utterly lazy in its design, seemingly repeats areas for some reason, and especially the, LOL, shared New Orleans clone. There is absolutely no business or artistic reason for the masters of map-making parody to share their work, or borrow the work of others.

 

Fake map is fake. Be ready to be amazed at what they've actually been working on!

The game will start out with the botched robbery where John gets shot and left for dead, leaving us to play out a new story with Dutch, Bill, and the others. This would explain how they could have Landon Ricketts still in the game as well as John since it's obvious that they never met before in RDR1.

Well it's hard to tell from that map what the terrain would actually look like. It could be awesome! Who knows?

And the New Bordeaux thing could really be a placeholder and joke from the devs, some other names seem pretty bad/easy/lazy/funny too.

But to be honest, some of the names of Red Dead Redemption 1 (yes I call it that now) did always seem a bit bad/easy/lazy/funny as well...

I agree, the map is way too flawed be anything worth looking twice at, and I don't see why it keeps getting discussed as if it's confirmed by Rockstar themselves to be real. It's just the same as with GTA V, that one fake pause menu map kept getting passed around as if it was real before the game was released. A bit silly mindset imo.

Makes no dang sense

 

I kind of explained it bad but it does make sense. It starts with the robbery and John gets shot, your character thinks he is dead and you leave with the gang, setting up the rest of the story and an opportunity for Rickettes to show up without crossing paths with John since he is already thought to be dead. Boom- makes perfect sense!

John Marston NEVER knew Landon Ricketts before the events of Red Dead Redemption. They met each other for the first time when John went to Mexico. Didn't you play Red Dead Redemption? Also, doubt Landon Ricketts would be even a character (his original voice actor died in real life several years ago) and another voice wouldn't seem right. But the point I'm trying to make is, THEY NEVER MET EACH OTHER BEFORE THE EVENTS OF RED DEAD REDEMPTION.

Jesus, you are not reading it right. I know he didn't meet John until Mexico in Redemption! I am saying John will appear and get shot very early in the game and disappear for the remainder. The NEW protagonist we play as after this happens could run into Ricketts. How does this not make sense to you people?

Yes! That's exactly what I meant, we're on the same page now! And sorry if I seemed a bit pissy lol I did explain it kinda sh*tty in the first post. But I figure the beginning could be somewhat similar to GTA V, starting in the middle of a heist gone wrong and ending with John getting shot and left behind. Maybe our new protag will want to stay behind for him while Dutch and Bill convince him to leave him behind, hence John not being too fond of either of them in Redemption 1.
