Red Dead Redemption 2: Discussion & Speculation (Part 1)

It was a bit disappointing not seeing them using the L.A. Noire facial technology for GTA V, it kinda felt like a step back.

 

It wouldn't work and not really necessary for Grand Theft Auto. The issue with Noire's tech is that it requires the actor to record his facial animations separately from the full-body performance, which creates a disconnection between the head and the rest of the body. That creates some awkward animations which can be seen in Noire, and it also comes at a large production cost. Personally, I'm not for pushing the facial animations technology to that level without putting it to use in gameplay-based scenarios. Redemption 2's already look great.

Ok, so I just booted up GTA Online just to get that Double-Action Revolver (did it in a Solo Session) because this kid would NOT stop following me in that flying car (and when I blew him up I get racist messages right after but that's another story... lol). I had a question about the weapon though...

 

So, the Double-Action Revolver won't be in the game unless we earned it in GTA Online or will it be in Red Dead Redemption II as a standard weapon? I'm asking because when I unlocked it in GTA Online the message that popped on-screen was it was a "special variant" of this said weapon. So, it'll just be a gold variant then in Red Dead Redemption II?

I think the gun will be in the game, it's just if you want the golden variant, you have to unlock it and do the headshot challenge in GTA V...

I think we can unlock the gold variant for RDR 2 in that treasure hunt. The Double Action Revolver will be in the game as a standard weapon imo.

The tooltip in GTAO does say you unlock a variant of it in RDR2 so it will be in RDR2. The gold plated one I guess only if you find the treasure in GTAO.

The animations were however, the faces themselves were limited by the fact that well, it was 2010/11, the game already didn't run that well on the consoles if I remember well.

Can confirm the gta online treasure hunt is amazing with some beautiful scenery. The revolver is fantastic and im willing to bet my life on it that RDR2 has first person mode as well. Theres just too much nice detail put in to not be seen its next level sh*t. And now that people are showing the tech this game has, it does make sense that the budget is in more the game than the marketing.. which is a win for us that is f*cking awesome!! They really meant they are makin this game from the ground up and its gonna show for sure. I bet it will also be 4k, hopefully HDR too. Cant believe we havent thought of that. I mean i have said time and time again TIMES CHANGED. its unrealistic to expect all this times square billboards and all that stuff now with social media, its not needed. Especially for rockstar. I want news as much as the next person it hurts but aye, lets not worry so much about their "sh*t marketing" its called they know what they are doing they have plans we dont understand. Plus they dont give us all info possible too much which is good. Its a tough wait but it will be nice to see everythinf for ourselves not spoiled at all. The way I see it, id be happy with a release date and maybe one gameplay trailer

The double action revolver is a beauty. You can see the grooves in the barrel and everything man its insane. A single shot revolver is better imo lol just more stylish . but the fact that they are possibly using real gun mechanics for firearms is dope asf.

It also could potentially add a different dynamic to how gun fights go down.

Yea it was me that recommend it originally fellas, it's dope to watch to see the real nitty gritty of the west documentary. It's a playlist I recommend them all, what I enjoyed about it was how it made me only think of how creative R* will go with gadgets, weapons and all kinds of western technology.

It's kinda hard already because they mentioned New York, Chicago, and a couple more real life places in Red Dead Redemption. None of the companies that exist in GTA are in Red Dead Redemption. They could retcon a lot of stuff and make it so they do exist in the same universe but I think that would be too difficult especially for the hardcore fans to believe or accept it.

You read "the secret"? damn right man. I dont mean to change topic but just to politely answer your question with a good answer yes i love it and i have seen LOA happen for me many times. Including recently when i got invited to audition for AGT I got a longer set time than i was supposed to and impressed everybody w my rapping, and I also scored an interview with the producers 20 mins after i said to my mom "i want to try to interact with the producers of the show to see what would happen" after 3 people politely saying no on interviews, as i walked away and they said they appreciate my ambition, a girl with a giant camera even larger than me came up to me and was like "hey do you want to do an interview with me? We could use some footage for the news and possibly the show as it broadcasts" i was blown away.

I always liked to believe that Red Dead and the GTA series took place in the same universe.
