Why would he beg to rejoin a bunch of greedy backstabbers? They'll be asking him to come back instead over a massive gamebreaking issue that he only can fix.

You do realise Rockstar owns 10 game studios and 1,000 employees right? The Benz was just the head of North and a producer. It not like he will go create a franchise that will give GTA an hard time (we seen all the clones come and go and they all failed).FYI, Red Dead Redemption is a creation of Rockstar San Diego.

Happy news all right. I'll remain cautiously optimistic. I found fun in IV, V and Mafia III so I don't see how I won't like a bit more of RDR in a different setting.

 

I do hope the single player is shown due love and attention. I understand online can give a certain longevity but so can single player if given care, attention and variety.

 

For me, Online would be nice if it's kept simple enough. Focus on 2 player co-op would be nice as it increases everyone's chances of finding one partner to do them with as apposed to finding 3 others with the same game, same console etc.

 

I wish Rockstar the best of luck with this.

You have to remember it's not just The Benz who left, his firing lead to major members leaving Rockstar, such as Craig Conner, Stephen Bliss, etc, etc, expect this game to have a bit of a different feeling compared to other Rockstar titles in this case.

Leslie got all of that finished in two months before the game was due to release.

 

Leslie was that important to Rockstar, don't ever deny his competencies.

I think everyone just needs to reserve their judgement until the trailer.

 

The announcement has everyone scratching their heads and biting their nails a bit. The title is a bit anti-climatic after all of the speculation but from a business point of view it does make sense. Is Red Dead Revolver even in the same "universe" as RDR1? Keeping Redemption means we're keeping the "universe" that John Marston lived in and that they've settled on a new franchise, a new wild west counterpart to GTA and just like GTA each installment has it's own number. It's kind of like how GTA was reborn from top-down to HD with GTA III. I would have personally preferred it to be a new tale with new characters, but if it does turn out to be a prequel then I'm looking forward to seeing John again of course.

 

The Newswire post has me a little more worried than the poster though in all honesty. It could have been worded a bit more impressively, and the use of the "online" buzzword but lack of PC platform has everyone teetering on the edge of insanity already. I guess they wanted to keep things shrouded in secrecy for now, but they should know we overanalyse every word that comes out of their mouths. We're always pushing for a little more but sometimes I do think the communication side of Rockstar could be improved a bit.

 

At least come Thursday we can put most of this to bed, we will hopefully have a better idea of who our protagonist is and what era it's set in. I picked a great week to have a few days off, I'll be refreshing that Newswire like a crazy lady come Thursday!

I was just with saying he is a "loser and a big shot" but even though he was that important, Rockstar and it studios have moved on especially North (which he headed) plus GTA Online is Imran's, tbh It not just a co-development of San Diego and North but the 8 other studios including Toronto, Lincoln, Leeds etc.He sure would have found job at another game publisher/developer.

Haha! Yes! I loved that they called it Red Dead Redemption 2. Not that I cared what it was called, I was just tired of the smartasses who always tried to correct you when you called the sequel of a game we didn't know the official name of, RDR2. Half the discussions were over the fact that "It won't be called RDR2" and that was getting super annoying.

What's so wrong with using RDR2 as a placeholder until the game was announced? Holy sh*t some people were so adamant to it not being called RDR2, as if they worked for Rockstar or as if they had figured out an always true rule for how sequels are named. And then Rockstar announces it as RDR2! Lmao!

So if you were a smartass who always corrected, and worst yet, insulted people for calling it RDR2... stop being so sure of yourselves next time
I should honestly screencap every comment and reply saying the game won't be called RDR2 and make a shame collage out of it

The benz made RDR happen back then & I think he made it happen again. The next RD has been in development for at least 4 years, so the Benz oversaw that. Every R* Game that felt special was due to him. He's been stabbed in the back and on top of that the criminals got the most of it: Money that ought to be his, and most important his magic formula will be there to recreate for years, decades. The feel of a GTA game we all came to know, that thing, that magic etc. - benz did it.

Now with him gone, we'll see what R* will do...Fortunately he was still there most of the stretch for this RD title

My wrath will return if there's anything shifty later, but for now I'll wait and give it a chance.

 

Although Red Dead Revolution was still a much better name. (And it wouldn't have insulted all the Revolver fans).
