Red Dead Redemption 2: Discussion & Speculation (Part 1)

As for the title... who cares? It's a title, its main purpose is marketing and selling the game. This appears to be part of the larger story of Marston (or at least he's in this), so calling it RDR2 makes sense. Nobody complained about GTA 2, 3, 4 and 5 - in a couple months this title flap will be completely forgotten, because it's really not important.

Hope neither Marston is involved in this.

 

But who says it's the definitive title? It may be just a teaser, to show us that, unlike Revolver, these two stories are connected.

Ha-ha-ha, I heard people saying the same thing about Redemption back in 2010. Ha-ha-ha...

To the best of my knowledge, the problem was related to optimising it for PC, which they couldn't handle because of the coding mess or something otherwise it wouldn't be exclusive to consoles. Unfortunately, the developers didn't want to come out and say it, instead chose to make it look like they never considered about optimising it for PC but people know that isn't true.

I'm sure it'll release for PC, there's no way they can make any excuse up, again.

 

Yes Rockstar has said that Redemption 1 was a nightmare to develop.

 

 

Well I was optimistic for a PC release, but then I remembered this is Rockstar San Diego. When do they ever make PC ports? sure R* North could port it, but I remain skeptical

Rockstar aren't gonna do some dumb 'wacky story' stuff they did with V, because that was their attempt at going back to the roots of GTA. Now they can do essentially whatever they want with RDR since it was developed with a mature story and a realistic outlook - and from the looks of it they're doing exactly the same here. An epic tale in the unforgiving heartland of America? Doesn't sound like some dumb satirical jab at American culture. I have a feeling they're gonna go as hard as possible with the new game and it totally shows.

 

Meanwhile, Online? Huge, huge potential. Maybe they'll do the micro transactions again but I doubt it'll have much to do with money. What can you buy, supplies and a horse? Even then, there aren't gonna be jets or lowriders or anything - so I'm expecting BIG things.

I'm sharing the same sentiment, man. If Red Dead Redemption is anything to go by we're in for a dark and gritty story. Just thinking about what Rockstar has in store for us with their first 'proper' next generation title has my mind going crazy with possibilities.

What they actually announced, you may have missed this, so bear with me, but what they actually announced is a single player game that lays the foundation for a new online experience.

 

I mean, those are basically the exact words. So... there's still SP... so, have a bit of patience and calm yourself down, you may get a really good game... And you can either spend the next few months feeling optimistic, or being pessimistic and setting yourself up to not enjoy it.

The name Red Dead Redemption 2 was kind of unexpected.

100% expected. It's called branding. That and it's just a title everyone has been calling it for months now so it'll be easy for everyone to remember or something. I don't know I'm just guessing here.

So, basically, an empty and bland map with absolutely nothing to do in singleplayer. Exactly like GTA V.

I'm okay with multiplayer existing in the game, but the wording they used seems to be priming people for another GTA V/Online model, with most of the meat of the game being in Online.

 

Go ahead and get upset at me, people, but I'm now skeptical as f*ck about this game, and will remain so until it's finally out.

Exactly!! Reading trough that little line made the little hype I had reduce to almost 0%.

I always was a little reticent for a new Rockstar game thinking it could be another online focused unfinished clusterf*ck in the end. So I'll really get my hopes down for this one, when it comes I will buy it and play it for sure but If they f*ck this one up I'm out, I will never buy a single Rockstar game again. It's shame wich route they took with GTA V.
