Red Dead Redemption 2: Discussion & Speculation (Part 1)

My hype train stalled to be honest, i think is even returning to the station somehow...

I dont know why but i feel the same way. bad title and the online thing threw me off guard

 

 

I just don't get you folks sometimes. I do understand some people's bad associations with Online and I have a few too, even though I've played it almost solidly for 3 damn years (I can't help it, I'm a junkie). But you have to have seen it coming. After GTA Online's massive success, there was little chance they weren't going to do it. All we can hope is that they learn from mistakes they made (above all, RDR Online needs to be better balanced than GTA's) and that the story doesn't suffer.

 

As for the title... who cares? It's a title, its main purpose is marketing and selling the game. This appears to be part of the larger story of Marston (or at least he's in this), so calling it RDR2 makes sense. Nobody complained about GTA 2, 3, 4 and 5 - in a couple months this title flap will be completely forgotten, because it's really not important.

Also, another reason to be cautious is because its not just R* SD working on this. R* North is also. They have a bigger role in this than the first one

Obviously early to tell, but I got feeling that Single Player will take backseat again. I would love to be proven wrong though, but I cannot see them passing on chance of advancing on online's success.

No way they are going to pass another chance to milk out of the online experience in a wild west setting, which is obvious looking at how they have phrased it.

Its like they are dying to show off the brand new multiplayer experience.

I'm 100% sure about the game being infected by Online virus in signifucant amounts. You can mark my words, and post too.

A part of me finds this great news because I loved Red Dead Redemption and I'm a big fan. As a matter of fact that game sparked my interest in the American Old West. Another part of me is afraid that this could mean that updates for GTA V will come to an end even though that game is still unfinished.

I liked the idea of a more original title, I liked the fact that Redemption's title was named after one of the major themes that appeared throughout the game. I was hoping they would do something similar with this.

 

Naming it Red Dead Redemption 2 kinda reminds me of this..

Nobody hates online. Take a look at their earnings report and note the total of the digital revenue coming from micro-transactions with virtual currency and then you will understand what exactly the concern is.

But who says it's the definitive title? It may be just a teaser to show us that, unlike Revolver, these two stories are connected.

not going to add more fuel to the fire but with the gta v trailer all we had was SP stuff that was shown.

end product was ofcourse completly different in that regard,so even if rockstar shows a trailer with only SP stuff it still doesn't rule out a bigger focus on online in the end product.
