Anybody else here watch the show longmire on Netflix? I think Arthur Morgan looks like a younger walt Longmire...It was the first thing I noticed and now I can't unsee it...its f*ckin uncanny.

 

 

Very first thing I noticed was his similarities to Longmire in his look, stature and stern with a lick of sass attitude. Also reminds me a bit of a young Tommy Lee Jones.

At this point I can't tell if RDR2 is getting delayed again or not, but I definitely think we'll have a release date by January.

A story theory:

 

Dutch seems a bit worried when he asks Arthur if he got his back. This could mean people betrayed Dutch or left his gang recently and it's slowly falling apart. This cutscene could happen a bit later into RDR2's story. But what happened exactly? Is it possible that this is the time when the failed robbery happened, when John left the gang and Bill later formed his own gang? Dutch looks pretty slick in the trailer. His rings, his fine clothes... So I bet he also had a really nice house. Again, it's just a theory but I think the big white house could actually be Dutch's. In one scene you can see Arthur catching the horse in front of the house. This could mean that he also worked for Dutch on his property (similar to how John worked for Bonnie). In the other scene you can see 3 people burning down the same house (it really looks like the same building). The unknown guy in the middle, Arthur and Bill! And this is where it all comes down to my theory:

 

(It happened either before or after the time of the cutscene with Dutch and Arthur and shortly after the failed robbery in 1906.) Bill and Arthur turned against Dutch and actually burned his house down. In the cutscene it also seems like Arthur isn't really honest to Dutch. Like he's hiding something or is up to something. All this makes me believe that we could actually see John and the failed robbery at some point in the game too. What speaks against all this tho is Dutch's age. In the the trailer he looks at least 10-15 years younger compared to the events of RDR (1911). But maybe the explanation for this is his horrible life he had to live after the events of RDR2. He lost his home, his status, he was on the run all the time. Living conditions that definitely make you age a lot faster (And it's not like video games are perfect).

 

Again... all this is just a wild theory and maybe I'm missing somthing important here and all this doesn't add up anyway... But I think it would make and interesting plot. In RDR John (the good guy) got betrayed by Ross. In RDR2 Arthur (this time the bad guy) betrays Dutch.

It's also possible he's just paranoid. When you're a gang leader in that kind of a position you start to wonder whether one of your people is going to sell you out or not. A perfect example of this is in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Slow movie but it's like watching a Shakespearean tragedy set in the old west.

Indeed, gun was a masterpiece for its time, and its the OG best western game, it had bows, different kind of arrows, dual wielding, cool guns, and alot more, i dont remember cause its been years since i played jt but it does look like rockstar took the ideas and put them in RDR2. And btw GUN is still my favorite western game of all time, 2nd RDR and third hopefully rdr2, but we'll see how it turns out

And it was HEAVILY influenced by native American culture, which was very cool to see and the main protagonist was half native American.

While my opinion on both trailers we've gotten has been pretty mixed, there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that this game won't one up Red Dead Redemption in almost every aspect. Mechanics, story, characters, multiplayer, et cetera.

 

Now we just have to hope we all live to see this thing release.

The time between John getting shot in the botched robbery and RDR is far too close to each other IMO.

There was a guy on Reddit several months ago supposedly leaking Red Dead info, this was the message he sent me... not sure how much to believe of it:

 

"Lets see what I remember...

 

You play a gang leader named Arthur. The biggest change made to the game is you have a posse. If I remember correctly, the story kind of starts when you find out someone in your outlaw gang is a pinkerton spy. The pinkertons end up having you on the run through most of the game. You acquire lots of members of your gang such as abigal, little jack, marsten, and others. The core mechanic of the game is having to maintain and continuously move your outlaw camp. When you go on a mission you will choose who to take with you, similar to mass effect or dragon age. The game spans five zones. A directive they keep getting is to make the environments more interactive like skyrim. Whatever that means.

 

There is kind of a game plus like like the last one had. You end up at beechers hope and switch control to Jon marsten. The are then lots of quests etc dealing with building up your ranch. You literally will do x And Z to build a gazebo. I heard someone designed a mini game where you help a mare give birth that had people laughing.

 

The last I heard, which was a few months ago, the game was kind of stuck in development hell of sorts. Then team kept remaking a vertical slice demo for the leaders of rockstar and they aren't impressed... They didn't find it different enough or innovative enough. Hopefully they got out of that rut.

 

I've also heard that since gta5 morale at rockstar SD had been bad. Long timers are quitting. Lots of turnover. Lots of frustration.

Did a bit of digging on this RDR2 leaker, his reddit username is "Reddeadinsider" that as far as I can tell has used for a very long time. He comments that he used it to leak "Red dead info", which means he used it to leak stuff back in 2010, 2009? on reddit?

His username has been long deleted, but I can still find some comments made by him, thanks to people referencing his unique reddit name.

Nothing super fancy, if anyone is more smart at this, maybe they can find his other posts.

Expansion? Probably. Remastered? Well I think that's off the table now personally. There would be no reason to once this game releases because it's going to look and play so much better. The only way I see us getting a remaster is if they secretly have a team working on it for the ten year anniversary.

I cannot wait to see what NPCs do in this gorgeous open-world. It's already freaking awesome that animals are living among this virtual world. I just wanna see how the NPCs interact and what will they do. Red Dead Redemption was a great open-world with a variety of NPCs doing their own stuff. You had NPCs play Poker, Five Finger Fillet, throwing a stick and making their dog fetch it, saloons jam packed with some people taking a quick snooze while kicking their feet up on the table or just hanging around drinking and talking or harassing prostitutes in there, people moving hay from the barn back and fourth, cutting up chickens, and more and more...

 

I can't wait to see how Red Dead Redemption II builds on that.

The death of Reddeadinsider the wise is a lesson to us all, if only we had taken him seriously before, and searched his entire reddit account for RDR2 info before him deleting his account.
