Oh. I've seen "online" domains being equivalent to dot com. Try checking if there's also gtav.online. It doesn't make sense there being a reddeadredemption.online as well. Even though it's registered by T2 it might mean nothing. Plus I think they'd do reddeadonline.com.

Well, no, I meant more the "I am not playing this game if it has an Online element" contingent that are throwing toys out of the pram before they know a single damn thing about the game.

How can anyone even be surprised and disgusted by RDO at this point? I'd be far more more surprised if RDO wasn't in the game. If, for someone, Online is a deal breaker alone, then there was no reason for them to get excited about the prospect of a new Red Dead in the first place.

 

I don't like Online myself. I'm not on board with that direction. But the singleplayer could still be fine. I'm cautious, but I still want to give R* the benefit of the doubt. I've said it before in those "Did V broke your trust in R*?" threads and I say it again, while it was a significant warning sign, one game was still not enough to comprehensively gauge R*'s intentions in the future and their dedication to producing quality singleplayer content. If Online creates problems for RD3's SP, then we'll have a trend. But just because Online created certain issues for V's SP (while it was far from being the sole reason for V ending up the way it did, to boot), doesn't mean that RD can't possibly handle the coexistence of these two sides of the game better.

 

I want to be hopeful. If RD3 fails, then I'll be pessimistic about Online's influence over GTA VI or whatever R* has in store. But not yet.

People forget that RDRedemption and IV's multiplayer elements, many of which I'm sure the Online haters played and enjoyed, are the reason we have this Online focus, and the further success of that made them make a very difficult choice. Follow the SP money and make a big hit followed by a small revenue stream, or make a long-term hit that brings in a huge revenue stream.

 

There will be SP in RDNext and it will be great. It won't be Online only, V wasn't online only, and people act like they got no SP content at all. But that's the nature of the entitled gamer, isn't it?

I don't see why people are worried about the online component. If you don't like online, don't play it. Rockstar have never skimped on the single player component of their games outside of DLC after the fact, which you had to pay for anyway.

Rockstar San Diego will be making the new Red Dead, a different studio plus they've had 6 years to work on the new game!

Yea, GTA V single-player did exist but you can't deny it was shafted to the side.

 

When Red Dead Online is launched(I didn't say "if"), I do hope they found another strategy to make money instead of pay-to-win. It was wrong to see level 4 players with Zentornos, we should all be making our money the same way.
