Rockstar's secrecy is so redundant, in my opinion. They always give us a ton of info before release anyway. Maybe this is just me, but I felt like I knew too much about GTA V before it finally released. It didn't ruin my enjoyment of the game, but there weren't a whole lot of surprises left.

Like a week before V released a bunch of people got their hands on early copies and started uploading videos that R* quickly took down but I took a peek at some of them I couldn't help myself lol and spoiled some of the game for me.

When we do get closer to release and if someone here gets their hands on the game early will they be allowed to post about it or are there rules against that kinda thing?

I mean, at this point i dont put nothing past R*..sh*t, anything could happen at any day. But thinking the August T2 conference has something to do with it is reaching imo. Like a member has said before, reason why it happened in May was because it was a DELAY announcement..but..hey nothing wrong with hoping.

This year is flying by , agree.

I am at that time again where I get frustrated evey Tuesday and Thursday. What can I say, I am not a patient person in some situations.

But it feels good knowing august or September should bring something substantial.

I get frustrated all the time waiting for any news of any sort. Every day I check Twitter, Youtube, this forum, for anything but get nothing....well for right now...But I try to stay positive and think that within a matter of months we'll all have RDR2 in our hands and look back on these days where we were all waiting during this info drought. The conferences usually align with announcements - game reveals, delays and release dates - basically anything that can and will affect an investors bottom line. So far we've seen the first two of those examples and are waiting on the 3rd, but August is too early for a release date announcement. I wouldn't expect that until the November conference at earliest.

Please show me when has earnings conferences aligned with release dates, reveals or announcements besides the delay in may. Because As long as ive been following these calls they mean absolutely nothing or have they aligned with anything. Edited by highzman420

Wasn't GTA V's announcement like that too?

Other GTA V announcements weren't this way at all, the months of expecting news near a conference were many more than the ones where we actually had news synchronised with a conference. The only two times I can remember were the GTA V announcement and its delay, nothing else.

I personally believe news near conferences is only valid for actual financial/marketing decisions such as delays, announcements or cancellations.

RDR2 being announced. lol a earning call wasnt until the next month. November 2nd i believeIt was less than a week IIRC. RDR2 was announced on Thursday and then the following Tuesday or Wednesday the investors call occurred.

Those of us on the forum at the time pretty much knew the announcement was coming because of the earnings call given it was the last one in 2016 and RDR2 had been rumored throughout. So the only news related to RDR2 thus far has been around these earnings calls. We're not saying it will happen but when Rockstar seem to have no real schedule of when they make announcements, that we know of obviously, these earnings calls serve as goalposts for possibilities for us fans to look forward to. If it doesn't happen then oh well, either Rockstar drops the news out of the blue or we look to November and the next call. lol

For sure. Something could happen or nothing. I always look to them though because they're usually at the start of the month which means it could coincide with a magazine reveal too like Edge or Game Informer.

Either way we only have a few days to find out. lol

You're also forgetting that they announced the Spring 2013 release window a week before a conference too. That's the three big events I was talking about right there.

And that one I guess. But trailer releases and such, to me it makes no sense that they're synced with a conference call. GTAForums exploded in disappointment almost every time there was a conference during the V info drought, and even during the blow out. But hey, this has been happening since GTA IV so we'll all be here to discuss, cry of sadness or joy!

Yeah. That was more or less my original point. I don't see any reason why they would release a trailer near a conference call, because it's more about investors. Any announcements that affect investors - new game, release dates and delays - usually line up within a few weeks of a conference call.

To me, the only difference so far between RDR2's marketing and GTAV's is they didn't tease a launch window with GTAV. This has meant they were forced to delay RDR while they didn't have to do that with GTAV - just silence.

Mexico better be in RDR2..i know that much. IDC what has to be done. I got a feeling that world size wise, is going to be on a massive scale.

I'm fairly certain they'll add RDR1's map to RDR2 in a DLC down the road. The leak shows them partially connected already.

YouAreWrong

Off topic a bit,but did you guys enjoy the fistfights in RDR?In my opinion they were so great. You had a takedown animation, brutal, yet realistic punches, and actually could KO people, then they would get back up after some minutes and follow you for another fight.

Starting fights at the bar was one of the most unintentionally fun things in any R* games.

Meh it was allright I guess, but i'd had preferred it if they used GTA IV's fighting system. That one was so much fun. Would've fit in perfectly in RDR. (without the kicks and stuff though)

The only thing I would say regarding the possibility of RDR2 info tomorrow because of the call is that TT's stock price is at an all time high and with new RDR2 information they might be able to cement that position for the forseeable future, which could be important to them as they are pretty dry on games for the rest of the year.

But that is wild, wild speculation.

I would say that they only need to exceed estimates for the earnings to at least maintain the current price. If they can do that, as they have been doing for years now, then there would be no need for RDR2 buzz. They will save it for later.

Great times are waiting ahead!

I did to some extent. I mean, it was out of whack at times. If we're talking melee here then I enjoyed using the knife (you could sneak up behind someone and slash their throat).

I also hope the robbing NPCs feature comes back again. I mean it was really nothing special so I think people won't miss it tbh. I really enjoyed going onto a train and rob everyone on board and jump from it.

BUT THE BENZ

oh you guys are still here? what's the latest? conference call gathering tomorrow? some traditional praying on our knees towards R* headquarter? begging the great creators for forgiveness, as we cannot help ourselves but feel the curiosity creep up our spines?

sounds good count me in!

I thought the melee system was marvelous and still enjoy it to this day. Apart from some clunky animations, it was a cool way to showcase Euphoria. The best part was you couldn't kill them no matter how long you fought, which is a million times more fun than GTA V where one punch is an instant kill.
