Red Dead Redemption 2: Discussion & Speculation (Part 1)

The assist off lobbies being empty is basically saying not a lot of people prefer assist off.

So why should people who don't like assist off be forced to play assist off because a minority of people who want more full assist off servers?

It forces players to get more creative with how they approach enemies, making the overall gameplay more varied and rewarding. At the very least, they should make aim assist more like Battlefield, where your reticle slightly locks-on only when it's near an enemy. Edited by D T

I understand where you are coming from. I think the difference is you see RDR closer to a shooter, but I don't really see RDR primarily as a shooter.

It's very uncomfortable trying to play Red Dead with free-aim. Trying to shoot without any sort of lock on feature in any Rockstar game sucks, but it's especially bad in RDR because the game doesn't allow you to turn off that annoying slow down every time the reticle gets close to an enemy.

It's quite shocking that already over nine months passed since the original RDR2 trailer and we've got nothing but a delay confirmation and some lousy screenshots ... whelp!

It is weird to think that it'll almost be a year since the first trailer. It feels like it's been a long time but not that long, if you know what I mean.

It's basically 2012 all over again and we're following the same timeline. The only difference so far is that we got 5 more screenshots than GTA V. Just hope that we don't get Déjà vu at the end of January next year if you catch my drift (;)). T2's Feb conference call will be decisive!

Reason why we don't need anymore screenshots. A trailer slightly breaking down the story is a must rn. We still dont eve kno sh*t about the world, animals etc. They have alot of ground to cover RDR2 wise and still have about 9 months left

If they delay it further into Fall 2018 (worst case scenario) every hope for Bully 2 to come out in 2019 is pretty much shattered.

What gives u the idea RDR2 lifespan will be a year long? And again..i wouldn't be surprised if we get another delay. Not at all

I haven't seen a Rockstar title in recent years to get delayed twice. No reason for it either. Has been in production for 5 years.

... erm?! Actually GTA V was delayed twice ... originally slated for Spring 2013, then in January they delayed it ... September 2013.

It was "supposed" to come out in Spring 2013 but then it got delayed to September. They'd never talked about a release date before saying Spring.

Yea V was only publicly delayed once. Internal delays are another thing entirely, and we can only speculate there.

Max Payne 3 was delayed from Winter 2009 to 2010, then in 2010 it was delayed again to an indefinite date. By the end of 2011 it STILL wasn't on their calendar, sparking rumours of a cancellation. After that it was announced for March 2012, having been again delayed to May 2012.

All in all, MP3 was delayed three whopping times. And it was delayed a whopping 3 years.

I think if it wasn't for the reaction of fans to the game it would've hit its' original release. Either that or Rockstar wasn't happy with how the game was turning out, or both. The game went under heavy changes. The logo, the story (to some extent), the graphics. If you compare the in-game screenshots from the 2009 Game Informer issue covering the game to the final release it looks massively different. They had a different person playing and voicing Max and fans didn't like that either so they brought James McCaffrey back and used his face for Max, He did mocap work too.

Let's not get started on the personal nightmare that is GTA V PC!

First Fall 2014... Then January 2015... Then March 2015... Finally April 2015.

Doubt it. Event week ends 31st so obviously a new one starts on the 1st.

I'm expecting some RDR2 news by mid August at the earliest assuming they stick to their "summer" words in the delay announcement.

I would be so happy! I really doubt it though knowing R*. We will probably get news around mid/late August. I don't see us going into September without any news/screenshots/videos.

Rockstar can take as long as they want to give information just as long as the information has some value to it.

On August 2nd we'll hear that Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online continue its success with 85+ million copies sold.

Then we'll hear that Rockstar Games is hard at work on future projects and will reveal more on Red Dead Redemption 2 soon (this summer).

I agree, we'll hear more about GTAV and GTAVO and maybe a brief mention about RDR2 on how it;s coming along well and that will probably be it. I would love to be wrong though :r*:

Until late August summertime is usually not a very good time frame to announce/post anything significant - people don't care, they're on vacations, etc.

Same here. lol Its another ol' "investors call at the same time as GI reveal" kinda timing and hope.

Otherwise who bloody knows when. I wouldn't put much stock in their "summer" timeline as I'm sure they've said similar things in the past and never delivered. lol

"Summer" probably means like late fall for R*
