Doesn't this "rumour" kind of go against all that digging you guys did on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram that heavily indicated that our protagonist was voiced by Roger Clark?

Not really. We don't know who Clark is playing or even if he has a role in RDR2 honestly until Rockstar reveals more.

 

Again I was just musing aloud given Take Twos recent comments on how the success of GTA Online has affected Rockstar, and the possibilities they could go with for a seamless single player/online world without them being two separate things.

Roger Clark is "just" a protagonist! He's probably the main protagonist's best buddy. kind of like a longlife friend that gives advice to the main protag as things go seemingly downhill

Was anybody else hoping that the main character would be Jack Marton (John Marston Son) with some plot to avenge his father death?

 

Reason i thought of this because John Marston death at the end of RDR so unless RDR 2 is set in the years before RDR kind of doesn't make sense that John comes back from the dead especially since we see him dead and his grave.

 

Unless i'm missing something, I haven't been able to keep up with the RDR2 Info mill as much as i wanted too

You had to do a specific side-mission that pops up after that if I recall correctly

Huh? You take control of Jack immediately after and a Stranger's Mission icon instantly pops up at Blackwater. Going there and meeting the stranger triggers the mission.

Player created main characters have nothing to do with the quality of the story telling if done right. It does however allow you to play havoc with immersion and mood by creating a monstrous-looking character that looks completely out of place in cut scenes and what not. Rockstar traditionally have been very restrictive with that type of thing.

 

There was a rumour a good while back now though that said RDR2's campaign will be co-op and involve running a gang, so who knows.

You're talking about the NeoGAF rumor... NeoGAF rumors are just as credible as the ones that pop up on Reddit sometimes. Verified or not.. I personally dont see them going that route.

I'm actually surprised that GTA 6 is mentioned this early and what, mocap? Still, nothing seems to be fake about the actor's profile and I would say it's legit until proven otherwise (Wait for R* to knock on his door and everything gets deleted!). As for a chance for another game, there could be one, but if R* (and T2) was thinking finance before anything else, and they do, they would directly rush to making the next Grand Theft Auto adventure. It would be 7 years or so since a new one by the time it releases.

Rockstar struck gold with GTAV releasing towards the end of the console cycle and I could see them wanting to do it again. They'll want to strike big while the player base is at it's largest and then double-dip on PS5/XBone 2.

 

Call me crazy but I wouldn't be surprised if they announced it before March next year. They'll treat RDR2 like Max Payne 3, using GTAVI to get as many eyes on the Newswire as possible. Then it'll be a two year wait until it comes out in Spring 2020.

Another way to think about it is that you get the game built on the most developed version of RAGE and that would naturally happen at the end of a console generation. Still disappointed? You will get to see GTA 7 built from the ground up on the next generation of consoles. Who's the winner? You, because you will experience a more beautiful looking version of the cross-gen GTA, and another one for then newer hardware, but you might double dip at some point of time, so money talks. Win-win? yes.

In an ideal world we'd have RDR2 in 2018, Bully 2 in 2019, Agent or some other new IP in 2020, and finally GTA Next in 2021 with an inevitable delay to 2022. However, with the enormous success of GTA V and Online I wouldn't be surprised if Take-Two might be putting a little pressure on them to release in time for the next generational leap.

3 Rockstar games 1 generation? NEVER! Another GTA in the mist of RDR2 lifespan? I dont see it happening. GTA 7 on nxtgen? Cmon man..R* not releasing games each year anymore. Why u think the online feature was announced from jump..RDR2 lifespan will probably go 3 years as well. Which will probably be the end of this generation of consoles. 2021 - 2022 is wen i think another game will be announced. And im not saying GTA because i just doubt R* needs another "GTA" just to make big bucks. QUALITY sells...not just GTA.

On other news, ignoring the clearly wrong clickbait title (pretty sure mocap is done in Rhode Long Island in their NYC mocap studio), Tim Neff has been at Rockstar San Diego recently. Likely to do with RDR2 (and not GTA VI as the title states).

Just imagine GTA 6 built exclusively for the next-gen (PS5, next Xbox) consoles ... it'd be like the experience we had with GTA IV for sure. Amazing technology that has never been seen in gaming before.

But I doubt that will be the case ... GTA 6 will be another cross-gen title just like V, R* might want to aim for a Fall 2020 release at the very latest. Then re-release a remastered version a year or so later for next-gen plus PC.

A cross-gen title doesn't have to be bad at all ... but I don't want to suffer GTA 6 from 22-26 framerate on current-gen consoles. I eventually had to stop playing GTA V on PS3 because it was literally unplayable with 22/max 27 frames a second or so.

... and there we go ... Grand Theft Auto 6 life-time sales 150 million copies or more, reaching $1 Billion in sales after 24 hours ... absolutely MAX 48 hours beating V's record of 72 hours (three days).

I meant if they decided to release the game after 2023. That would be V's 10 year anniversary. I didn't say we're 10 years away from PS5. If anything we'll probably see it in 2020/21
