Mhm, it's why I'm sceptical about his RDR2 information. His GTA Online details were bang on the money but there's plenty of plausible reasons as to where and why he may have had that information, knowing deets of GTA VI and RDR2 and leaking them is another thing entirely.

 

The one thing I will say about GTA VI releasing on this gen is... When exactly are we thinking this gen will end? Last gen cycles were 7-8 years and both consoles are coming up on their 4 birthday so unless VI is out around 2019/2020 then Rockstar are possibly going to be cutting it awfully close again. That said, the current gen's end will likely be a bit muddy with the Pro/X consoles possibly extending the generations life span, or at least bridging the gap.

 

His mistake about that photoshopped photo of the North offices got me suspicious. On another note, the whole concept of generations is kinda messed up right now, it seems like Microsoft is going to abandon the concept (according to a guy who works at Windows Central) but Sony says that Pro is just a upgrade and that they'll have the PS5 in a few years. Confirmed by Shawn Layden himself in an interview

I don't think Rockstar would want to miss releasing the next Grand Theft Auto game on the current consoles, only then to release it early during the next console cycle and assuming that there will be one in the first place. They will be throwing away bags of money, which is something that T2, nor any reasonable corporation, wouldn't like to do at all.

Aliens can maybe abduct u like in the movie CvsA. Maybe a legendary wolf bite turns you, seeing the whole transformation in action.

it would be awesome if they add something to the overall shooting mechanics that were in RDR. not directly the shootdodge as introduced by max payne, but something else that has you move in combat ...I picture some leaning or maybe a slide to the side. like you wanna ...well...DODGE the bullet but you don't jump left and right like Max payne etc. a realistic motion in the hips or something...like I said, you could LEAN to the sides or something.

I would love the shootdodge mechanic as I think it would add some style to Rockstar's otherwise bland cover shooting. It would also be great to add if they have no actual intentions of making another Max Payne game. Imagine if every shootout in RDR2 was as stylish and bloody as the final shootout in Django Unchained.

Until Rockstar figures out how to monetize Max's inner monologue that series is as good as dead, so they might as well recycle everything from that game. I'd still be playing MP3's multiplayer to this day if the playerbase wasn't dead.

Is anyone here expecting a Game Informer reveal anytime soon, or is that out of the question until closer to release?

It doesn't necessarily mean that Redemption 2 will follow the same steps, but GTA V had its GI story cover in the December 2012 issue. I personally expect the same thing, that is, it's either the November or December issue. What we will get in Summer, if any, could be more screenshots and artworks, a trailer or even the GI cover, because who knows.

If we look at GTA V, they started the blowout for a Spring release in August. We're probably getting stuff later than August, imo, but it might start sooner than we think. Hopefully!

 

In October we had GI announcing they would have a GTA V cover.

I think it's too early even with the investors call next week. Announcements that are deliberately made close to the calls are of the type that impact T2's earnings forecast, such the announcement of a new game or a delay. GTA V's delay was announced 2 days before T2's call in February 2013. The buzz about GTA V started 3 weeks before T2's November 2012 call when GI tweeted about their visit to Rockstar in order to check out GTA V. I believe that we will be looking at the same timeline especially after T2 clears their schedule from the yearly sport titles that are due to release this Fall. I also expect 2K Games to announce their next big game, and together with RDR2, they will be the spotlight of the November conference call.

 

EDIT: Expecting RDR2 to have a similar, if not identical, marketing timeline to GTA V, we can go back and see the past.

 

20th Aug - 24th Aug (2012): Rockstar shares a series of screenshots from the world of GTA V.

 

30th October (2012): Release date announced, just 2 days prior to T2's conference call.

 

5h November (2012): Trailer 2 announced to release a week later, coninciding with the full reveal from GI.

 

I can totally seer the same marketing template again this yea.

It's worth mentioning again that when Rockstar Fgt talked about GTA VI he referenced spitball documents, implying it was still in the design stage. He also mentioned RDR2 would have three playable protags, so we'll know how reliable both those pieces of information were once they reveal RDR2's story.

 

Don't put so much faith in this R* fgt guy, VI has been in full production for a few years now. Also i'm not sure why anyone would think VI will not release on current gen? Seems pretty obvious to me it will.

 

Yep, it was in those same leaked 2012 documents that they've set aside a team for the game and a list of possible locations they could choose.

 

 

What's this document? Is it available to read? I'm out of touch in this regard.

 

a meeting session that was held by Rockstar in 2012 regarding their plans for the future. The 3 cancelled V DLCs were in there too. As far as i know Ash and a few people including some mods have it. Not public.
