It's that time again where I am waiting every Tuesday and Wednesday. Gta online updates should not get in the way.

They can't keep waiting for a free week with out any gta online bonuses, events , cars. That isn't going to happen there always will be something gta online related.

I don't believe that theory at all where rockstar need to wait to post about RDR2 that doesn't clash with gta online updates. Not true

late August. Believing anything will happen sooner is just setting yourself up for disappointment

Was RDR2 teased at Comic Con?

ofc not... If rockstar never goes to e3 why would they show something at comic con

I think it's quite obvious now that delaying games is simply a marketing tool that rockstar use. I mean it happens with every big game they release. We can all say it pisses us off but all it does is increase the anticipation.

Obviously it's a marketing trick. Maybe it increases your anticipation, but for me and a lot of others it only kills the hype and makes us pissed off. There are only a few games I get really exited for, so when a game i looked forward to for the last 6 years gets delayed it really gets me mad.

It's not marketing, just bad resource management. who knows they might have needed to change requirements, or maybe a voice actor stepped out and needed to be replaced, somebody spilled coffee on the server, it's anybody's guess at this point. But if you've waited for 6 years, 6 months should be no problem right?

info August/September timeframe imo

The SAG-AFTRA strike might have been a reason for delay indeed. A lot of actors were affected by it and could not/can still not do VA for video games, there's a chance it could also be related to that.

Brilliant strategy. The only thing is its doing the complete opposite...

Maybe R* needs to hire people who know when to announce a game and get it out on time.

They just wanted to milk GTA one last year because it's still selling well. In the meantime they can polish up RDR Online. As we get closer to release, they'll use GTA Online as a free marketing machine, with RDR adverts slapped onto the endless loading screens.

They might as well release a jet pack dlc for adversary modes and another secret story mode mystery to the mount chilled conspiracy. That way 1 billion will bounce back on to the series and discover RDR2 is on the way

Great...another cycle of SP getting the cold shoulder while RDR releases in a half assed state and players will defend it because its R*

It's crazy that due to GTA Online's popularity we haven't got a new game from Rockstar since 2013.

It's gonna be 4 and half years since PS4 came out by the time Red Dead Redemption 2 releases.

And almost 5 years since GTA V first released on last gen.

I really don't care about DLC's for GTA Online anymore after Gunrunning, and all the cars being released.... Gimme new games.

I still believe trailer could come out in a week or two...

*3 and a half since PS4

*4 years since last gen

That's still a lot of time though, haha.

November 2013 (PS4 came out) to April / May 2018 (RDR 2) is 4 and half years.

I don't really count PS4 version of GTA V as a current gen game, even though it looks better and has more DLC's etc.

PS3 version story mode was almost the same, other than graphics, some animals, pre-order missions, cars etc.

It would be 3 and half years since PS4 version if you wanna count that.

Though as Rockstar said themselves on Newswire, RDR 2 is first game designed with current gen consoles in mind.

Grand Theft Auto V will take #3 spot in the 'List of best-selling video games on all platforms' of all time by the next Take Two earnings call sometime in August with approx. 85-86 million copies sold.

This game is still doing so well, seriously I can (somehow) understand Rockstars decision to further support this game (GTA Online) as much as they can. They'd be stupid not to do so.

I think RDR2 will get a further, even if minor, delay into Summer 2018 - probably will get a June-July release.

I believe after RDR2 their entire focus will immediately switch to Grand Theft Auto NEXT and nothing else (they'll also stop with GTA Online updates this Fall or early 2018). I'm sure they'd want to bring it (GTA NEXT) out this generation of platforms/consoles only to release a remastered version a year or so later for next-gen (PS5, next Xbox and PC). They obviously want it to reach $1 Billion in sales within the first 24 hours or so to completely demolish the entertainment industry as a whole.

So expect the following:

Red Dead Redemption 2: Summer 2018

Grand Theft Auto NEXT: Fall 2020 (if they want it to be on PS4, Xbox One)

Grand Theft Auto NEXT: Fall 2021 (if they don't care for sales and go all next-gen with completely new engine, ...) > I'd prefer that

I don't see them going on for 10 years or something without a new GTA. North is already working on it and we're already seeing signs of GTA Online slowing down to probably stop by the end of the year or sometime in early 2018. If they'd want to make the most money they can with a new Grand Theft Auto they'd release at the end of a console's cycle, so expect Grand Theft Auto VI after RDR2.

It's worth mentioning again that when Rockstar Fgt talked about GTA VI he referenced spitball documents, implying it was still in the design stage. He also mentioned RDR2 would have three playable protags, so we'll know how reliable both those pieces of information were once they reveal RDR2's story.

A project can be spitballed for ages, I'm almost sure GTA VI is in development at North in some way or another. After all despite RDR2 being a R* Studios project, I doubt there isn't a team at North already doing something about GTA VI. Not to mention game direction is probably still at San Diego.

The first engine build of GTA V happened in 2009, and when it was announced, an artist on Twitter mentioned he finally could talk about it after 3 years (2008), which means that concept work and stuff for V likely started all the way back in 2007/2008, which is normal for a game series like GTA (or any game, the concept stages can last for ages, just look at Mass Effect Andromeda). So I'm assuming stuff for GTA VI exists since 2012 or 2013 and we might have assets and stuff already being developed. It's my view on it though.

I hope they relase the next gta for ps5 gt v as a great game but the 360 and ps3 was too outdated

Yea I have no doubt it's been in development in some form or another since V launched, but I dunno personally if we'll see it after RDR2. I think given all that went on at North we're likely to see something else before it and GTA VI in 2020/21, but that's just my guess. I really don't believe they've only had 2 projects in development (GTA V/VI + RDR2) for all this time. Not for a studio of their size.

Well in the 2012 leaked documents a new IP was mentioned but my guess is that because they've fallen back on their original schedule they're just going to go with VI. Apparently RDR2 has already missed mentioned dates in that document. GTA is definitely more of a priority for R*. They probably stopped working on that IP. Worth mentioning that San Diego was going to be the developer.

I highly doubt R* just push for more another GTA right away. Money makes any game a priority when u deliver top of the line games. R* could easily drop a new ip and do just as well. Look at the catalog of IPs outside of GTA R* develop. I could be wrong i just would prefer a NEW IP before another GTA. I been fully immersed in GTAV for almost 4 years, i could use a break from cars, tanks and jets for a while personally.

RDR2 is coming out in like a year but yeah i agree i would also like to see a new ip from them

Don't put so much faith in this R* fgt guy, VI has been in full production for a few years now. Also i'm not sure why anyone would think VI will not release on current gen? Seems pretty obvious to me it will.

Yep, it was in those same leaked 2012 documents that they've set aside a team for the game and a list of possible locations they could choose.

a meeting session that was held by Rockstar in 2012 regarding their plans for the future. The 3 cancelled V DLCs were in there too. As far as i know Ash and a few people including some mods have it. Not public.

Mhm, it's why I'm sceptical about his RDR2 information. His GTA Online details were bang on the money but there's plenty of plausible reasons as to where and why he may have had that information, knowing deets of GTA VI and RDR2 and leaking them is another thing entirely.

The one thing I will say about GTA VI releasing on this gen is... When exactly are we thinking this gen will end? Last gen cycles were 7-8 years and both consoles are coming up on their 4th birthday so unless VI is out around 2019/2020 then Rockstar are possibly going to be cutting it awfully close again. That said, the current gen's end will likely be a bit muddy with the Pro/X consoles possibly extending the generations life span, or at least bridging the gap.
