Shrewsbury? A unreleased hat for GTAO has it as a logo with a deer on it. Could that be some kind of RDR2 reference or something? Googled it, its a town in New Jersey.

It's a gun manufacturer in GTA - http://gta.wikia.com/wiki/Shrewsbury

Interestingly it does have ties to the old west...

That sounds absolutely stupid

which is why R* would find it funny...

They arent known for their "intelligent" and insightful humor you know...

Thanks for clearing that up, Jason! If they're going to tease anything, they should do so in GTAO. That'd be cool

would be cool if we see the same company in RDR2 to tie the 2 universes together somehow

As far as the storyline goes, Rockstar just need a little bit of focus. Their games always start with a relatively focused, small stakes gambit. In Red Dead Redemption, that was hunting Bill to get your family back. It's simple, clean, and allows them a great opportunity to show how harsh life can get along the way. However, almost all of their games go a little haywire towards the end of the 2nd act, losing focus as they barrel towards the finish line - John involved in the strife of the Mexican civil war, Niko working for the mafia, and the trio being blackmailed by government agents in GTAV. It's like their writers come up with these cool concepts and force the main characters to take part even when they have no motivation to do so.

Let's break down each example:

As Niko, I'd already robbed a bank and had all the money I needed. U.L. had promised me he'd find Darko but would just need a little time. So why the hell is Niko working for the Pegorino's at all? What role does it serve in the storyline? It's pretty simple - the writers of IV wanted a part of the storyline to revolve around the Liberty City mob.

As John, you get involved in a Civil War that really has nothing to do with you. It's like they watched a Fistful of Dollars, snorted some cocaine and turned the plot up to 11. Like everyone else, I love that they included Mexico and I love that you chase Javier and Bill there, but instead you spend your time in this beautiful new region taking orders and being involved in something that has nothing to do with the games real storyline.

We see the pattern here, I'm not going into detail about the mess that was GTAV's government agency storyline. I feel like we've covered everything wrong with it ad infinitum.

What the writers need to do is come up with a storyline and focus in tightly, feeling confident that their work is good enough to carry the game from beginning, through middle and all the way to the bloody end.

^^Couldn't agree more. The only reason Red Dead is set specifically in the year 1911 is so they could fit in the Mexican revolution.

John got involved in the civil war (fighting for both sides) to gather intel about the where-a-bouts of the gang members so it did kinda fit the story line.

In other news, there's a new machine gun mounted truck announced for GTA. Very exciting...........they sure outdid themselves this time.

@Zello Joke of the year

The world was more alive, the game was more fun, and they didn't focus on online.

Nah. Ubisoft's worlds are always lifeless and boring. The story was for edgy 9 year olds. Cringe all the way. Probably the worst writing i've ever seen in a AAA game. The gameplay added a bunch of new stuff but other than that it's pretty much WD1. I would've preferred a boring ass character like Aiden than a bunch of tryhards.

I don't think GTA V's story was good.Actually,i think it's more for 9 years than WD2 was.At least watch dogs 2 was for teens with focus on technology and internet satire, while GTA V was a story focused on people dropping F words and going for ''edgy'' scenes with Trevor.I didn't really like WD2,but GTA V's story was as cringey as you can get.Plus the incredebily predictible ending.

Haha gave me a good laugh. a bunch of hipster hackers is really for teens. Yeah for teens born in this f*cked up generation that is. They like to "dab" and use their fidget spinners. Poor writer was trying so hard. How is dropping F bombs "edgy"? It's in all of Rockstar's games. Go play San Andreas.

Houser's over reliance on the word has become grating through the years. Go play Max Payne 2 (Remedy), then Max Payne 3 (Rockstar). Max goes from a poet to a 14 year old kid whose parents aren't around. The great thing about Watch Dogs 2 is, the writers clearly understood how silly their game was and had fun with it. The dialogue actually sounds like it was written by reasonably witty people, unlike GTA; which often sounds like it was written by some middle aged edgelord furiously typing into his laptop about how lame everyone but him is. No it wasn't. The whole reason they decided to make the game "silly" was because people hated the first game's characters and thought Aiden was boring as f*ck. Then they took the light hearted route and failed miserably. They totally changed the whole point of a game like Watch Dogs where the world is gritty, dark and about actual hackers. Not a bunch of tryhards who are trying to "hack the world".

Good read about the sound design of Redemption, creating some expectations to what Redemption 2 might offer in this department.

The audio tone for RDR was absolutely f*cking incredible! Personally the ambience of the world & soundtrack of RDR has been the most immersive experience ever for me.

Out in the wilderness, yes. But the sound really broke down in populated areas. A bunch of NPC's would talk over each other with no real relation to each other. Though this may be a fault of programing rather than sound design.

feckyerlife..are you seriously arguing that 'better sales= better game' rhetoric? Let it go,man that doesnt even hold true for GTAV. By that logic, Tetris is the greatest game ever made and Minecraft right behind it. And by that logic I guess Wii Sports is a better game than GTA SA? or any GTA?

EDIT: Oops :/ Meant 'feckyerlife'

Damn quote trains...

well then are you finally saying that GTA V is a sh*t game? obviously it had the best sales of the last 5 or 10 yrs. Im glad you agree that GTA V is a sh*t game.

New RDR2 info will come between 5th and 20th of August. Will launch before Gamescom because there they are promoting NBA and WWE 2k18 plus XCom addon will be released. September makes no sense because blockbusters from other companies are going to be released.

Just a few more days to wait for a second trailer

Hey guys wrong thread probably but what was your least favorite part of RDR? I personally thought the civil war part was really dull and boring (only compared to the rest of RDR). Mostly because I saw De Santa's betrayal coming from a mile away.

The Mexico portion of the game. I thought it was going to be really fun but the whole time I was there I wanted to get back to America.

Yeah dude, it totally felt the same way for me. The area's above the border were just way more fun. The environments also felt way more detailed and diverse. I mean you had swampslands, plains, grasslands, canyon like areas, forests, mountains and even blackwater as a city environment. In mexico you just had canyons and barren plains filled with cactusses and a rock here and there.

it's a possibility, but i wouldn't bet or bank on it. With 4 more cars and 2 adversary modes in the tuneables, They could very well wait until September. But during the drip it could definitely happen as well.We gotta fight the good fight and wait to see how this plays out.

No one's gonna lower the temperature.Actually,it's gonna be off the roof.

But yeah, their NPC's are pretty average,i'd actually take WD's scripted NPC's rather than GTA V's lifeless walking robot who die in 2 shots.

Watch the original material for the first Watch Dogs like the first ever demo at E3 2012 and then compare it to the sh*t in WD2. You'll understand.

Really now with the whole "realism" sentiment? Try parachuting after jumping off of a 70ft building and see how that works out...A game isnt supposed to imitate real life. Especially a GTA game.

BTW Im sure some people can get shot 2 times in the calf and not die within 20 seconds :p

I hope we get a taste of some steampunk customization or weapons.

..Oh God no..

Lets leave that weird and ungrounded sh*t for GTA. RDR should remain a western thats at least somewhat grounded in reality. Maybe in a DLC like Undead Nightmare but in the base game? Nah

Look Thats your personal feeling bruh. i "personally" think it would fit right in perfectly. Idc if its the story or DLC. Online? if u ask me? ABSOFUC%*NLUTELY! Grounded reality? This is a video game dog. R* are known to push the envelope a bit. U acting like i said dinosaurs or some sh*t lol. Steampunk western concepts are not far fetched not by a long shot.

I personally feel they're going to maintain the purity of the Wild West with the main story, but I definitely wouldn't say no to a steampunk-ey DLC in the style of Undead Nightmare, or even Undead Nightmare 2.
