Sad reality we live in now...looking like we won't get GTA 6 still at least 2021

 

 

 

I'm perfectly fine with waiting. GTA has had it's shine nearly 4 years now and it's still going. Bring on Bully, Agent, and other IPs. Exactly! Im not thrilled to see another GTA after RDR2.. i love the Manhunt IP, i would like to see something new. Rockstargames dont need to run the GTA franchise into the ground. Resting a IP is sometimes best.

I think there's 2 more to come, after several years of mediocrity I can see this generation going out with a bang with Rockstar being a big part of that. I'd guess RDR2 (2018)--->Bully 2 (2019)---->GTA 6 (2020/2021).

 

They would be crazy to leave all that money on the table from the combined install base of Ps4+XB1 nearing the end of the generation. Releasing another GTA at the end of the generation also gives them the excuse to do another triple dip for PS5 and eventually PC.

 

Keep in mind PS4 pro was like a mid gen refresh so I think it's safe to say we have another 3-4 years left until PS5

That would be interesting but taking their best selling series out of a slot where they would have 100 million + potential customers in favour of making an unproven IP their last game for the generation doesn't seem very smart.

Honestly, I was ready for a new Rockstar game by about Feb of 2014. I haven't played GTA Online since then and I've never really cared about all the fancy updates they've put out. I knew Rockstar was going to support online for years to come like they said they would, but I was so used to getting at least one new game from them every year. I was fully expecting a new game to be announced in early 2015. How foolish I was to think that.

Of course the delay is a good thing, Ubisoft SUCKS. They're pretty much the worst AAA dev right now. Everything they've released in the last few years has been a major disappointment and has collapsed from technical failings. For Honor, P2P hosting and overall poor PvP mechanics, player based dried up. The Division, messed up their math and bullet sponge enemies + failed 'Dark Zone' annihilated player base. Watch Dogs 2 (and 1) both were a cute attempt to take on GTA but managed to be more of a mess than anything. Of course at this point Ubisoft is mostly famous for showing games off that on release are majorly dumbed down graphically. Assassins Creed? WHO CARES anymore, sheesh. The story has gone off the rails, since Black Flag (which was very fun to play) there really hasn't been a tangible story to follow, it's most just "Look at the graphics, play the game, ignore the story content" in design. What it comes down to is Ubisoft isn't presenting much. WHY are the confident they'll make increasing profits? Because if they weren't confident they'd lose STOCK VALUE. These a$$hats don't actually think they're going to start making more money, they just can't openly say that because they're a corporation and admitting you expect profits to slide hurts your trade prices. This is about keeping their stocked valued, NOT about a honest prediction.

that guy is incorrect, Ubisoft has the best selling game of the year so far. The worst developer by far is EA/Bioware, they have slowly been going down the sh*tter wait And Ubisoft games haven't? Have u seen Ghost Reacon? They're games last for 2 weeks and then they are forgotten. EA & ubisoft are in the same boat. Top Selling dont take away from the bad quality tho.

Apparently they were going to announce RDR2 in 2015, originally. They answered somebody's question for a RDR sequel with: Stay tuned for announcements from Rockstar Games in 2015. Internal delays i guess.

Yes that maybe true. But Ghost Recon is still the best selling game of the year, point me to one thats even close to selling as much as that game has? Don't get me wrong i f*cking hate Ubisoft, but i have given more money to Ubisoft over the last 5 yrs than any other developer, because they actually put out games. Can't say the same for beloved Rockstar, take two hasn't really put out sh*t over the 5yrs either. So what other developers are there, thats actually putting out games more often than 5yrs. Quality of games is a different story, but some can argue the quality of GTA5 was on par as any Ubisoft game.

I do envy you guys for your optimism in R* and their future games. you be like 'hey in 2020 they'll make a new GTA, and yeah they will continue with Bully and Manhunt'. that is really cool and all, you got something to look forward to in terms of gaming, you don't see any bad signs. Now would I be the happiest bastard on earth if R* were to get their sh*t together and "continue" to make great games? hell yes I would! but really, knowing what happened, knowing "half" the company's key players are gone, man, hell no I don't think they will continue to be great. and sorry to say, but I can see RDR2 being their last game. Maybe there's one more, but that would be it. I said that a couple of times, how GTA V's ending dialogue between michael and trevor feels like there was a subliminal message in it. "too old for that sh*t" <-- maybe the housers wanna make movies now? it might have been the last GTA, ever!

 

well, just sayin there's always two sides to a coin. let's see what they do with RDR2 and RDO, let's hope for the best. but let's not forget that the company that gave us the greatest games and made 2001 to 2014 or something the wonder years of gaming, as such, does no longer exist! man....it's sad, but true!

I can't argue with that, thats what Ubisoft do. They will sell you a game fasho, with live trailers, enchanced cinematic trailers etc. Casuals would think its amazing because they dont know any better. Personally I dont care for GAMES, i care about quality games. I've been passionate about games for too long to just play absolutely anything just because its NEW. I have no problem if i have to,waiting years for a game of QUALITY. GTAV on the level as a Ubisoft game?? That is laughable

Nah. Ubisoft's worlds are always lifeless and boring. The story was for edgy 9 year olds. Cringe all the way. Probably the worst writing i've ever seen in a AAA game. The gameplay added a bunch of new stuff but other than that it's pretty much WD1. I would've preferred a boring ass character like Aiden than a bunch of tryhards.

Have you played Watch dogs 2? The pedestrians are waaay ahead of GTA V. The peds in Watch Dogs 2 feel like real people they actually interact with each other. While the ones in V just get violent and call the police on you.

Yeah i've seen em. And no they're not better. They're the typical NPCs you'd expect from Ubisoft. P.S: Even GTA III has a better open world than WD2

The only thing i can give Ubi is the effort put into they're World design. Call of Juarez looked great as a western world though it was linear. Even WD2 world looked good if u was just taking pics but their stories, gameplay etc? Ehhh. I know some people say IV's story was better but V's story IMO was great. I love all GTA stories. And the jokes definitely weren't cheap. I loved the characters and the working for the government plotline too. It was SO satisfying to finally kill that dickhead Steve Haines. And of course, we can't forget Devin, can we?

IMO R* should have focused purely on the 3 guys especially since multiple playable characters was such an innovative thing at the time. But no, R* had to throw in their "Government is evil and corrupted" nonsense to tie down the whole story and ultimately make it the most forgettable storyline in the franchise's history. That one thing watered down the main characters, made their motivations and lifestyles feel like backdrops, and made Franklins thrive to escape the hood feel like boring poorly written and terribly executed filler.

Opposite for me. There was no intense build up to killing them off like there was with Smoke/ Tenpenny in GTA SA or killing Dimitri in GTA4. It felt like the characters got up one day and randomly decided to make their troubles go away with ease. It played like it could have happened after Devin denied them their money. There was no tension or huge show down or anything. Just anticlimactic garbage.
