Someone here mentioned that these 7 men could be a group of marshalls. I like this idea and I can imagine them pursuing a dangerous outlaw.

The Nefarious

The silhouette on the far right does seem like a native american doesn't it?

Could it be Shadow Wolf? And could the one on the far left be Red Harlow? The image could be purely conceptual.

Yeah, I thought that was a really insightful, outside-the-box stab at what we might be seeing in that image. Much more compelling than recycling old characters. A group of U.S. Marshalls would be a very interesting idea. In fact, for those worried about "choice," there could be a thread of corruption going through the group, and as the protagonist, you have to choose which path to encourage. This would satisfy both those with a hunger for justice or a thirst for violence. And, it would be in keeping with virtually EVERY Rockstar open-world game: the choice to be bad or good.

Native American, or a lady, or both! Either way they are left without a hat for reason.

I wonder whether we'll see any of the characters in the poster during the reveal, or if we have to wait for a trailer for that.

That face doesn't look like lady's to me. Very pronounced cheekbone and a huge head. Almost looks like silhouette of Danny Trejo.

Yeah but to me, the top of the head looks like a shape you could only get from a bald head. So most likely not a bald lady. :)

In fact, the more I think of it...putting the focus on a group of "Lawmen" would also be rich with conflict that we see in our current world: debates about excessive use of force by Police, racism, abuse of power, but also the need for police and the examples of good men and women putting themselves in harm's way for the good of others. Rockstar has never shied away from making political and social commentary via their art...in fact, you could make a strong argument that it is the underlying PURPOSE of their art (okay, after $$$).

I like this idea of playing on the side of the law while being given the option to be corrupt, but I wasn't thinking that these marhsalls or lawmen would be playable and our protagonist could be one of them. Just the idea of a group of lawmen uniting together to hunt down a dangerous outlaw who could end up being our hero (here we go, another idea :)).

For those who need a much cleaner, clearer image.

Finally placed all members who know of its existence!

HyaX1th.png

Wasn't Abigail just a fresh young (excuse my language) whore in Dutch's gang? Being passed around so everyone could tap that country western putananey?

I think you're onto something. It really does seem like those COULD be the characters in the silhouette. Remember that rumor from GAF that someone knew an actor who was voicing an half white/native american character for the upcoming Red Dead? That could possibly be Dutch. Possibly a younger version of him. Look at his attire in RDR.

For those who need a much cleaner, clearer image.

I thought it was the old gang but after seeing this close up I think its a completely new gang. Some guy said that was abigail on the far right in the close up pic, it resembles a man's stature maybe an american indian gang member. The way they're standing gives off a justice or law enforcement vibe maybe bounty hunters or something.

If anything, the old gang picture could still line up if you take the 2nd character from the left and think of them as Abigail...which would make sense being by John's side. Person seems to have a more slender frame, and a bit of hair hang down from beneath the brim...giving off a slight bit of feminine presence.

Could be just us reaching though.

I still say the odds of it being an entirely new story and new gang are almost certain. It is so rare for Rockstar to bring a character from another console generation and put them in a new game, regardless if they are ever a main, secondary, or background NPC. I think maybe there was one guy from VC or SA that appeared briefly in GTA IV, but that's about it (oh and Johnny getting his ass stomped by Trevor, but that techincally wasn't cross-gen).

Then the image updating Eventually would find out who is the last man?

Definitely native. He just 'looks' native. And besides, that silhouette doesn't look very feminine. Hope we can use bows in this game or tomahawks

I don't know...looks Chinese to me. I feel like (for better or worse) a group of protagonists today needs to be ethnically diverse, so the group probably does include a Native American, and African American, and those of Asian and Latino descent, as well as a Caucasian or two. So, there probably is a Native American, whether it's the one on the right or not.

It might be that none of these characters are the protagonist anyway, they could be the guys chasing you or the guys in your posse. It might be that we'll get a big character drawing of the protagonist in the middle, like the Red Dead Redemption poster.

Rockstar North have quite a lot of creative control over their games. They probably do not have much care for diversity. Which is fine.

No. theres not a need for every group to be diverse today. R* can do whatever the hell they want and still get praise. The few that care about that can go kick rocks.

GTAV was released at the peak of the social justice movement and the only criticism they received for having 3 male protags was from GameSpot and that review had a 97% dislike ratio before it was taken down.

Not everything needs to look like a college pamphlet. Doesnt make the game better or worse. Just give us great characters and a great story

Lemoyne outlaw

speaking of lawmen it could be wyatt earp and the group goung to the ok corral. anyway i do like the idea of lawmen as protagonists. they could bring back the honor system from redemption. and yes they must have a decent amount of native american influence in the game. the natives in redemption were nice but i want to see more. with diffrent tribes and it could also have some parts of the story focusing on the native american wars with the army that could be fun.

Maybe it's a placebo effect but the silhouette on the far left looks exactly like John to me. Same hat, cut off jacket, rolled sleeves, and gloves.

Yeah, no, I'm not talking about creative control...they absolutely have creative control. I'm talking about what is "permissible" in the minds of the modern market. For example, Rockstar absolutely could not (and would not) make a game about child pornography. That topic is too serious and too important to say, "Hey, f*ck You, we're going to make this game cause we want to!" And, of course, neither Rockstar nor Take Two, nor any other company with sensible leadership would do it.

That's an extreme example of what I meant, above. I meant that Rockstar would not shy away from the challenge of creating a diverse group that was still in keeping with historicity, and they would do it because it was the right thing to do. Take a look at the remake of Magnificent Seven in theaters right now for an example of what I mean.
