I hope for your sake that it's definitely a RD2 follow up or prequel,

cuz if not it's going to boost the suicide rate within the posters in this thread

 

O RLY? Because it seems to me like the only people getting worked up are the ones crying that we "deserve" a completely new story and character, and the ones saying they "know" that this won't be a prequel. The rest of us are just hyped and speculating for fun.

 

I'll be happy with this game no matter when it's set or who it's about. Can't say the same for the people who are losing their minds over the possibility of a prequel.

I'll be happy regardless even if it's a RDR remaster.

IF it's proven a new game, I'll be happier with a complete new storyline characters

I'll settle for a sequel/prequel of course.

I'm catching zero feelings, son. Though I appreciate you "making assumptions about other's state of mind" and saying that I am. Personally, when I read someone say that "WE WANT A NEW EXPERIENCE AFTER ALL THIS DAMN TIME" (quote from Jabalous), that sounds a lot more like "feelings" than anything I've said.

 

As for people acting like their speculations are facts, again: I haven't seen anyone doing that of the people who are hypothesizing it's a prequel and interpreting the image as Dutch's gang. Feel free to cite some posts if you believe otherwise. But I have been told point-blank by at least one guy that it definitely WON'T be a prequel and that the protagonist will definitely be a new character. So which side here is really acting like their speculation are facts?

 

Basically, I'm a little tired of people who come here just to sh*t on somebody else who is trying to have fun aboard the hype train. If you don't like speculation and guesswork in the build-up to an announcement, kindly go sit in a dark corner and mutter to yourself. The rest of us are having a good time.

 

 

I personally don't think I'm entitled to anything from Rockstar

I'll be happy with any RD follow up

Time for me to become active on GTA forums again....... A NEW REDDDDDDDD DEADDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Red dead redemption absolutely consumed my life, it didn't know it was possible for a game to be so good, I would still be playing the multiplayer if hackers didn't destroy the servers.

Interesting poster. I wonder if the game will revolve around forming your own posse - Jesse James style - and actually living the life of a famous gunfighter and outlaw. Red was just out for revenge, John was a man trying to make amends for his sins, and Jack was just kind of milling about with nothing to do. But what if we could play the bad guy? The kind of trigger-happy killer who makes the whole town go silent when they ride in?

That's been speculated for months. I don't remember the original source of the rumor - one of those purported leaks, I guess. It has been said to be a prequel to Redemption, based around Marston's time in Dutch's gang. When the map was leaked (again, also possibly not-real) it seemed to back up the prequel rumor in certain ways, and suggest a time somewhat prior to the setting of Redemption - mainly because of changes to the part of the map that is also in Redemption.

 

That is all pretty interesting to me, and the new image looks a lot like it could be Dutch's gang. Then again, those leaks could all be fake and the image could be all new characters. Who knows? We ought to find out soon. There is a certain type of internet speculation where people, lacking any other material to work with, assume everything is a direct sequel or prequel, and this character = that other character, and so forth. A lot of such speculation is nonsense and ends up being wrong. Remember for instance all the people who were certain CJ would be making a major appearance in GTA V. But in this case, something about it feels right to me. I wouldn't be surprised, is all I'm saying.

There is not much information about it, but it seems that besides being prostitute helped the band to do their misdeeds.

I like the idea that somebody gave earlier that each day we'll get a poster with one less silhouette, and it will act as our "countdown" to the trailer.

 

Regardless of whether we play as a young John or somebody else, I think this will be a much more gang/posse themed game

Rockstar games usually don't feature main characters from previous entries in big roles. Whenever they do, they're confined to small cameos.

I expect these 7 people to be completely new characters in a new world that has a very small amount of references to Redemption. If any at all.

Honestly, if Rockstar could capture the tension and artistic beauty of Segio Leone's works again, that would be an incredible achievement, wouldn't it? RDR was such an amazing, emotive game. The kind which really does only come around once or twice a generation.

 

I'd love a similar gut punch ending. I always wanted to play the bad guy, and go out like Wild Bill Hickok - gunned down by a nobody (Maybe even a young John Marston?) just trying to make a name for themselves.

These outlaws weren't like big time Mafia dons. They were dirty, grubby, and didn't seem to be able to ever really enjoy the fruits of their crimes for fear of the law. They were quite a sad, brutalized lot and even the worst of them can elicit some pity when you read about the world they grew up in and the harsh circumstances which shaped them.

Thunderstorms were so cool on Red Dead Redemption. Whenever a lightning strike would show the horses and other animals in the area would react. If you saw a couple horses hitched at a hitching post in a small town they would kick back a little bit and "nay". The atmosphere in Red Dead Redemption was incredible.

 

NPCs doing a whole bunch of things. NPCs literally playing fetch with a dog by throwing a stick and the dog would bring it back, using the out houses to take a leak, pulling along side a road and getting off the horse to take a leak, bandits rolling into town causing trouble.

 

Just imagine this next installment!

BTW for those who hope for a prequel or another adventure with John Marston: the guy that voiced John has retired from voice work entirely, went on to work on his ranch and pledged he's not going to do that kind of stuff again (I watched that on some reliable source tho I don't remember where it was). So John coming back is very unlikely.

My one big worry about the new Red Dead - more so than who it's about or where/when it takes place, because I truly don't care that much - is that they might go a GTA V route and make it bigger but less detailed/realistic. As most of us know, V is massive compared to IV, but a lot of the little details are missed. Things like the police AI are very simplified and dumbed down. Funny enough, I never really cared about that - it doesn't affect my enjoyment of GTA much because it's the big picture (and the chaos factor) that I enjoy. But Red Dead needs to be as detailed and lived-in as possible, IMO.
