Ooooh, sorry my bad. Maaaybe, but I still doubt it. Ubi have their year well planned out - South Park, Assassins Creed and The Crew are October/November/December (in that order). The only place they could have put it was September like it was rumoured and we speculated, but it'd be an awfully short time between release and announcement so it's not surprising that it's February.

The Last Of Us: Part II is likely coming out in June 2018, so realistically the best time to release RDR2 will be September 2018.

How would that even be possible? Far Cry is releasing in February, RDR2 is releasing after March 31st, likely in May.

I don't think Far Cry 5 even made Rockstar blink to be honest. They have zero reasons to be concerned about any random new Ubisoft games. They're not in the same league. The Last of Us might be but it only releases on one platform and Red Dead most likely will come to three (and it is already a more popular franchise).

Most definitely not. Naughty Dog/Sony themselves said after the reveal last December that the game is still in very early development. Late 2018 if we're lucky imo. My guess is 2019.

If you look at Rockstar's past releases, this is just when they like to release games. If it's later in the year it's October-November (GTA V couldn't really release any later cause of the consoles) and if it's early it's April or May. There's really no big conspiracy about it.

i just like how our hype was at an all time high, and we went to our bunkers. But in the end, y'know when we thought we were safe, Rockstar opened the hatch and saw us quivering with fear over the inevitable news, all of us hugging for warmth during this cold time, and dropped a nuke in our safe haven.

RDR2 won't be going against any game, especially not Far Cry lol. People can enjoy and buy other series, I don't know where these imagined rivalries are coming from. Sure, the marketing department might take note of when other games are releasing in the calendar, like how we've all mentioned fall 2017 is busy for games, but Far Cry is modern day, not even remotely western, and is releasing near the beginning of the year. It's got no relevance to Rockstar or RDR2, not every series has to be compared.

 

The only game I could see that might challenge it is The Last of Us 2 because that series has drawn a lot of its own acclaim, so it might go head to head with RDR2 for awards like Game of the Year, but that's not even confirmed for 2018 considering it's only recently started filming, certainly no need for comparison in regards to sales/release dates though.
