Red Dead Redemption 2: Discussion & Speculation (Part 1)

Let's sit back and enjoy once more the beauty of Red Dead Redemption ... damn, this game still holds up so well after almost seven years since release and those horse animations are still unparalleled in gaming to date!

 

The most fun I've had in SP since 2004's San Andreas and MP.

 

One PS3 disk broke and didn't work anymore, next day I bought a new one. Loyalty to the end.

Certainly one of the best and most enjoyable gaming experiences I had of entire last generation (PS3, 360). GTA IV was also amazing. If I had to determine I think I'd put the overall experience of IV just a tiny bit over RDR, simply because it was the first real "next-gen" GTA and was a complete change in gameplay, visuals, atmosphere, etc. compared to San Andreas. It technically impressed me so much as did RDR ... after all it's unfair to judge between those two since it's totally different games you can't really compare in my opinion. Bring on RDR2 R*, I have no doubts it will impress me as once GTA IV and RDR did!

There has been no official announcement about the date other than the initial announcement, so why would they change it? It'll be there until it's delayed.

When RDR2 was teased the first time that sunday, when did that event end? before the reveal or after ?

 

After. It was the first bi-weekly event, and RDR2 was announced during that break. Now they're all over the place, we've had weekly, bi-weekly...

 

So realistically,what are the chances of T2 saying anything about it on the 23rd? A date? development? when we'll see it? Chances of T2 saying anything is slim. But Zelnick vaguely might hint something we never kno. The presence they will have at E3 is a question investors might ask tho, but it's a waiting game now.

So I wonder what the chances are that this game will get any SP DLC. Probably slim to none, what do you guys think?

 

All I know is that even if they announce SP DLC, it still doesn't mean we're getting it. Don't get your hopes up until you see a trailer for it.

Probably just maintenance, and due to the prolonged downtime, I'm assuming they're pushing yesterday's security update to their servers, due to the WannaCry attack. Rockstar run on Windows Server 2012, so they should be doing that.

It's impossible to predict if they'll do SP DLC really, they hinted about GTA V SP DLC for a few years and we never saw it. Some will say their heads got turned by GTA:O moolah, but it really could be any reason. For all the talk about Rockstar "abandoning" SP that you see all over the net, it's some pretty wild speculation to say one way or another. We'll know a lot more about what Rockstar's stance on single player, multiplayer, DLC and monetisation is when we finally get RDR2. It's with RDR2 that we'll see what lessons they learned and what they want to do in future.

The RDR video. Damn.. looking back at my post I realized the way I worded it made it sound like I'm not interested in RDR2 whatsoever.

 

I meant the complete opposite.. seeing RDR age so well after 7 years made me want to punch myself for giving Rockstar sh*t for not marketing RDR2 properly. I want them to take as much time as they need to make sure it's of perfect quality. I'll gladly wait after seeing how amazing RDR still looks to this day.

I'd be fine with them taking it in a sci-fi direction like that for DLC but I want the core game to be a purely Western experience.

I don't think RDR is the franchise for it by any means, but I would love to see Rockstar do a sci-fi game. Would be very curious to see what their vision of sci-fi would be.

Edit: Except instead of rehashed Online content and discounts on virtual kiddie toys, it was Max Payne 3, which made it a little more bearable.

Tbh I dont care if RDR2 was just exactly as V with multiple protags, great storymode, unprecedented gameplay features and a big focus on Online. As long as the studios still make games and we dont hear news of shutdowns. I hope The Benz' exit was just to do with the "Royality payments" and not a dispute in North future direction. If it the latter then San Diego and their other studios management team should be worried. I think that also the reason Rockstar Interactive India dba Rockstar India were created to outsorce most jobs making it their largest studio. I hope everything turn out great post-RDR2.
