They could as well shut down their website entirely ... I wouldn't miss it, honestly!

Or make it complete simple ... name of the games, few facts, screens, trailers and some short news-posts on the other side ... something they had before the last version of the newswire - so the one before the one before the current one (the one with the golden R* logo)

So who else thinks that the revamped R* Website is complete trash.

R* managed that I don't even visit their website anymore ... great job!

Whoever came up with this nonsense tumblr styled website ...

I think it's well made however the new newswire will take a while for people to adjust.

Is everyone really optimistic about E3?

The argument I would make against Sony showcasing RDR2 is the fact of their 1st party line up, they have the strongest 1st party lineup in Playstation history in my opinion. Why would you take the shine away from those titles to show RDR2, a 3rd party title?

You know RDR2 isn't the only 3rd party dev they have a marketing deal with right? BF2, shadow of war, C.O.D etc. E3 isn't just Sony exclusives

Yea I agree. It's why I think if it shows during Sony's presser it'll just be a PS4 Pro bundle announcement for the Fall assuming it's not delayed (which it probably is at this point). That said, highzman raises a fair point, Sony do have a lot of partnerships with third parties, Destiny and Call of Duty in particular since they're major titles and Activision don't have a conference so it's not ridiculous to think that Sony will at least dedicate 5-10 mins to third parties, but they have so much 1st party stuff to show at this point they could literally fill a 90 minute show with just 1st party stuff that's already been announced.

Like highz said, the 3rd party marketing Sony has is for all the heavy hitters this Fall meaning it's not impossible we'll see "something". Rockstar tend to stay away for E3 outside one or two circumstances. There's reason enough for both sides of the coin; RDR2 will be at E3 or RDR2 won't be at E3. We can get deeper and wonder if it's just going to be a bundle announcement or a full blown exclusive trailer/gameplay or nothing whatsoever. I, for one, am not going into it expecting anything at all; better to be pessimistic than to get your hopes up to get nothing. Like a great man once said "A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one."

This is why I think that (assuming no delay) Rockstar would release a substantial RDR2 trailer prior to E3, so that Sony and MS would have derivative or related material to show. There's just no way they would let third parties release substantial new marketing content about the game itself. No way.

You mean like this? lol

This trailer was just highlighting next gen graphics, an appropriate thing for the console makers to do. The game was already out for many months; no new content to be had.

Can you imagine a console maker showing the brand new, actual trailer for GTA0 heists, or even a big new DLC splash, at E3, rather than Rockstar initiating / presenting it on their own media?? Would not happen.

I guess I see a big, big difference between actual new RDR2 marketing content, vs the derivative stuff that Rockstar would pass on to console makers for E3. Others apparently do not agree, and have high hopes for E3, when we can almost guarantee that Rockstar will not have a solid presence. This is like early 2012, when many fans had high hopes that GTAV couldn't possibly slip past Fall 2012. What rubes we all are, including me.

I will allow that Rockstar could chose to try to upstage E3 by putting out the RDR2 trailer a few days before, but I don't believe they would dignify the timing of E3 by doing that.

One final hedge: Would Rockstar let Sony or MS show scanty partial content at E3 from a brand new RDR2 trailer, and simultaneously (minutes before) release the full trailer via the Newswire? That could generate some buzz, and it would satisfy the predictions of an RDR2 trailer *by the time of* E3. But I predict that a full RDR2 trailer will *NOT* be shown at E3.

This is why I asked this point before. if so, where would Sony put it? Now knowing Sony, they know they need the competitive advantage over MS. The leverage would be the Exclusive Content, This content has to really entice the consumer to buy on ps4. A bundle is ok, but show a customer this Exclusive Content and you have them sold.

When Rockstar announced GTA V in 2011 we had to wait 252 days for 2 lousy screenshots.

Never thought that we would come close to that number with RDR2. 204 days and counting...

I'm still rubbed raw from that abominable 2012 GTAV non-campaign,, and RDR2 is gettin' me mighty raw, again.

How many of those first party titles are releasing this year vs third party support this fall? Not to mention they've got exclusive content for the 4 major hitters this fall: Destiny 2, Call of Duty WW2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 not to mention some of the other first time exclusives for the likes of Shenmue 3 and FFVII.

Sony always highlights third party support every year at their conferences so this year would be no different. I mean, if Sony has and announced a partnership with Rockstar Games for RDR2 do you really think they wouldn't take full advantage to show off and announce whatever they could for the game at the biggest gaming event of the year? lol

The trailer was announcing GTAV coming to next gen consoles including PS4 and Xbox One as well as a PS4 bundle. Something Rockstar themselves didn't announce until after the trailer and press conference ended.

Trying to make a point that Rockstar won't let a third party or console manufacturer make an announcement on their behalf or with media not released themselves is pretty much a invalid and moot point. Because it has happened before. At E3. And on Sony's stage because of a partnership.

So if it happened before it could happen again.

Anywhere and Sony doesn't need any leverage. The PS4 is the leader and dominant system on the console market. Sony snapping up exclusive content and rights is them beating MS as a dead horse. If anything MS would of needed RDR2 as leverage. Again its Rockstar Games so naturally Sony will your any partnership they can, where ever they can especially after the massive success of GTAV and PS4 which both parties are benefiting from today.

well that's all we can do is speculate and make predictions brother lol, but games do that all the time. No the game isnt out yet, but do you know how many games get a brand new trailer just for E3. R* dont even need to be there, they can have a narrator over the trailer like they have done before. And just allow Sony to present it. This is how R* would apply pressure to the entire industry going up against the other big AAA titles imo. Did GTAV have a Sony marketing deal? Is this the same deal from 2012?

I just can't see a situation where Rockstar wait until after the Take 2 conference call to announce a release date unless they do it at E3.

They definitely seem to have something planned for next Tuesday. It'll be Gunrunning, but for now we at least can hope.

Right, They wont reveal/announce anything at the conference. But sometimes T2 might vaguely hint at things in the works sometimes. as for next week ill be looking to see if something happens sunday. When did the event end the last rdr2 reveal?

When did the event end the last rdr2 reveal? They're definitely not announcing a release date during the call, I have no doubts about that. Quite frankly, these things aren't even worth listening to as all the interesting bits get transcribed and will be undoubtedly posted in here within minutes. More in the sense that Rockstar do have a history of doing reveals right before a scheduled conference call.

We need to remember that aside from everything we know about Rockstar's history of delays, this game IS STILL scheduled to be released between September-December of 2017. That's 4-7 months from now. The conference call exists to illeviate the concerns of Take 2's shareholders as well as answer any questions they might have. Announcing a release date beforehand makes a lot of sense.

Edit: or a *shudders* delay

Here's an example: GTAV was announced for Spring 2013, but Rockstar announced it was delayed until September right before the February conference call. If they had have gone into that call with investors expecting a big money-maker in April/May, that wouldn't have looked very good when the announced the delay.

Right now, we're looking at 2017's version of this call. It's roughly the same amount of time before the games expected release window and both Rockstar and T2 have been tight-lipped to say the least.

Edit 2: Added perspective

January 30th, 2013 - GTAV release date announced

February 6th, 2013 - Take Two's 3rd Quarter Call
