Yes it was, but the Next Gen announcement trailer is not the same as a RDR2 trailer. Plus it barely showed anything, important.

The Important videos were the Comparison Trailer and the First Person trailer, which were both released by Rockstar themselves.

Indeed. IMO, Rockstar will not dignify E3 with any substantial RDR2 info. At most, Rockstar may release something in May (screenshots or more, maybe even the real RDR2 trailer), so that Sony and Microsoft will have something RDR2 to show in their console extravaganzas.

I know that way back in 2012, Rockstar did put up Max Payne 3 on the Hotel Figueroa before E3, as a way to have a presence nearby, while still shunning the actual convention.

In E3 2017, there are many big blockbuster games that could chose to buy the Hotel Figueroa space to dominate the external advertising presence in conjunction with blowout advertising inside E3. Many different products, not just video games, have had ads on the Figueroa.

Rockstar could choose to troll both E3 and us RDR2 fans, by paying highest-bidder price for the Figueroa in June 2017, and then putting up this:

pSMLqKu.png

This was the hotel in 2008, after a Los Angeles City ruling about mega-sized ad graphics on buildings.

The Max Payne 3 hotel mural didn't shun E3, considering it went up a month and a half before E3 even began, but was commissioned as a giant billboard for the game's release.

Trying to say that a GTAV Next Gen Announcement trailer doesn't count or compare to RDR2 Announcement is also just plain idiotic. Some of you need to get over your revisionist histories of Rockstar and E3 and come to terms that from 2001 onwards Rockstar were big supporters of the convention with both open announcements, behind closed doors demos and floor booths. Rockstar's lack of E3 presence is mainly come at the cost of their lack of output given they haven't put out a new title in nearly 4 years...compared the old days when they were at E3 with stations and buses set up for The Warriors, Manhunt and Bully. And that was 1 E3 event.

So it's just as feasible that with Take Two already having floor space and two games announced for 2017, one of them RDR2, that we'll be seeing or hearing more of the game at E3 in June. Not to mention the rumor of MS supposedly showcasing RDR2 on Scorpio at the event and of course Sony with the online exclusivity content going with all their other exclusive third party support.

ditto. Its gonna be at E3

True, I was a little off with my timing. MP3 released one month before E3 2012, so its ad push was well before E3. I screwed up that one. But I doubt that there was any open mention or stage presentation of either MP3 or GTAV by Rockstar at E3 2012.

Also true, I didn't follow what TTWO / Rockstar did in the old days at E3. But my opinion still stands that for 2017, only MS and Sony will mention RDR2 openly at E3 2017.

I'll cheaply and hypocritically hedge that assertion, however, by saying that since this is the only big Rockstar game going, and they probably have put so much work and so much money into it, that they may actually need E3 this year to expose and re-hype RDR2 to the full gaming community. Nonetheless, they are being typical assholes to the dedicated RDR fans, right now. I'll still bet 3:1 odds that Rockstar itself will not present RDR2 at E3 2017, but leave it to Sony and MS, using derivative material.

Well no, Max Payne 3 had no E3 showing because the game was already out before the event and Rockstar rightfully kept GTAV because their focus was Max Payne 3. That always annoyed me as a big fan of MP3 because they should of never of announced GTAV until November 2012.

Rockstar have never taken the stage at E3 to my knowledge even when GTAIV was announced so it would be no different when or RDR2 shows up at either or both Sony and MS conferences. The footage and publishers will say all that needs to be said. All I'm saying is never rule out E3 and people proclaiming "it ain't Rockstar's thing or style" are, as history has proven, wrong.

Exactly. A lot of peoples memories are clouded as to why MP3 didnt have an E3 showing. It was out a month in advance. Also, Max Payne 3 was officially announced at E3 2009. R* doesnt have to show up for their games to be there.

The point is, DGSimo, Rockstar never showed a trailer for a brand new game at E3. The odds that RDR2 will not show up at E3 with something never seen before are much higher than the opposite. Even the last game they announced first in there was Agent in 2009. That's 5 years of not caring about E3 until they showed GTAV with just prettier graphics despite having an output of one game per year during that period. History is there to stay, but nobody said that it cannot be rewritten.

This discussion between May or E3 is going nowhere. We are just a day away from May, so let just wait, since it's only thing we can agree on.

doesnt mean itll stay that way forever. R* can be do some spontaneous and unexpected. Take RDR2's release for example. This may be the first time R* has released a game on time. And it may be the first time when they marketed a game 6 months after its announcement fully into release (like fallout)

Depends what you mean, to be fair. "Rockstar doesn't do E3" isn't true, no, they have had a few cameos at the event down the years and by all accounts they regularly attend it behind closed doors and yes they did announce the GTA V remaster at the event. But "Rockstar don't really do E3" is fairly accurate if it means they just don't... Well, do E3. They don't use it to reveal information, they don't use it to talk about their games and, correct me if I'm wrong, the last time they used it to announce a brand new (ie not a remaster) title was Agent. It's easy to say "Well, Rockstar don't need to do anything, just give Sony a trailer" and you might very well be right - but are we all suddenly forgetting how tightly Rockstar control their own promotion and marketing these days? By tightly I mean they do it all on their own terms - GTA V NG was, so far, the exception and not necessarily the rule. It was a remaster of a game we all knew and had played and their marketing budget was quite clearly waaaaaaay less than usual for a release. It really isn't the same as them showing up and revealing RDR2 to the world.

I mean I could be talking out my arse here and anyone of us could be right and come E3 in June, as usual, I'll be watching every conference hoping for Rockstar announcements. But, if we're to go by history, the odds are slim.

I could die of a heart attack if they reveal that Ennio Morricone did the Soundtrack.

Would rather they hired Dick Dale if only for the guitar parts. The sound of spaghetti westerns was surf guitar, and Dick is the king of surf guitar.

This is seriously getting ridiculous, I know Rockstar doesn't like to give away a lot before releasing a new game but if they really expect a 2017 release then we should've got something by now. They have the weirdest marketing techniques.

I've just stopped anticipating it for now. When it comes it comes. No point continuously looking out for it.

Some companies do, especially larger corporations.

Edit: Some parts of Rockstar, like the support department, are known to run 24/7.

I'd like to see more muzzle loaders in RDR3. They touched on them with the blunderbuss in UN, and the musket in GTA 5. Things like the '53 Enfield, '57 Whitworth, '51 Colt Navy, a Short Land Pattern. One or two each for each firearm category.

Enfield and SLP for rifles/repeaters, Whitworth for snipers, Navy and an 18th century flintlock for revolvers/pistols, a blunderbuss for shotguns.

If they do something at E3 it'll most likely be at the Sony or Microsoft conference. Take Two will most likely just promote NBA 2K and WWE like last year.

Maybe we're wrong though and they do a western themed booth for Red Dead Redemption 2 like what they did for Mafia 3 last year. Also in 2009 or 2010 they did something similar for Red Dead redemption it wasn't E3 but they had some western themed party and invited people from some fansites.

Yes it was for PAX, and people actually got hands-on with RDR.

If they were going to say anything and it was before E3...May would be my bet. There are 2 anniversaries for Red Dead before the investors call, one of which is on Wednesday, so there's 2 possible dates or weeks to look at.

Also I guess the word is that the RDR Facebook page was hidden, not deleted, any fan pages for RDR2 are being shutdown? At least according to legacykillaHD's new video and I didn't really know the full details of the Facebook thing so thats....interesting.

Why would Rockstarvneed to hide the Facebook page just to update it?

It seems a little weird but I feel like it's just grasping at straws.

I'm not listening to sh*t a Any of these Youtubers let alone legacy has to say about anything idgaf. If it dont come from a forum or a RECORDABLE source its rumors or lies if u ask me. Personally i don't see R* doing some mediocre reveal for 1 of the industry's most renown games imo. When has a anniversary for a game ever been the reason for a reveal of anything from R*? C'mon man.. I just don't see anything happening in May except some news on the G.R.update, if it does then so be it. My guess is e3, and I'm sticking by that until proven otherwise tho. but you kno R* Logic: Perfection is a dish best served LATE. 🤞Let's hope RDR2 doesn't keep us waiting Edited by highzman420

Has rockstar ever been at e3?

Not sure if they were there. I think they went to E3 2005 to promote one of the PS2 games and they went to E3 2001 to show off GTA3 but their games are there more than they are. LA Noire, GTA4 announcement, GTAV next gen, RDR tech demo just off the top of my head

EDIT: Oops. Meant PSP games not PS2
