I could die of a heart attack if they reveal that Ennio Morricone did the Soundtrack.

I expect Woody Jackson to return. Perhaps Gustavo Santaolalla is doing the ost as well since the theme in the first trailer sounds like a different version of one of his tracks.

This is awesome, I didn't know this info until now that it's a remake of some of his music. Someone sent me his video on Twitter earlier. I must have been living under a rock at the time this was found.

Let's keep our expectations low, it's not healthy because at the end of the day we'll very likely get nothing new on RDR2 the entire month of May and maybe even up till E3.

Realistically I'd expect R* to show 'something' - be it an artwork, a couple of screenshots, ... - by the end of June, most likely we'll get a set of screenshots in early June, a big mural is going up Figueroa hotel days before E3 officially starts resulting in an all new, first proper look at RDR2 via a new trailer during the PlayStation E3 presser and then maybe the big GI cover story in early July (August issue).

Also I'm very sceptical they can keep the Fall release window - I think their new goal is to get it out by end of March 2018 but ultimately they will have to push it further back a few weeks into mid-May to mid-June 2018.

That's my expectations how things will turn out, don't take it for granted but I think it's the 'most' realistic scenario.

I for once can't wait for all the amazing RDR2 artworks that will be released in the coming weeks and months. I love their artworks! I guess everyone agrees with me, right?

It's just heartbreaking to see that R* also stopped doing the booklets and switched to digital only in that regard - something they were masters back in the day, few developers even had colored booklets, R* not only had colered ones but mastered them with lots of interesting stuff in it and on top of it the map with a poster on the other side. Bring it back for future games R*, please, you got the money, bring it back!

Who said they aren't going to do them? Hell, they do one for each GTA Online update. And we already have a glorious one for RDR2.

If you're right and it's delayed till March 2018 or later, push that schedule back 6 months and it's more realistic. GTA V's Figueroa mural was done 2 months before release, their GI issue done <6 months before release (the delay for GTA V was a very late decision). It's a pretty bang on description of Rockstar's typical marketing/advertising routine, but they wouldn't kick off their advertising campaign that early if they knew it was already delayed.

Uh I didn't know this either! This is a pretty cool and big find as it could mean he contributed to the OST.

Personally I doubt anything RDR2 related will happen before Gunrunning, they're billing it as a large update, and since it's coming relatively soon I can't see them muddying the waters by reminding people there's a new R* game coming soon-ish :p

Rockstar Vienna

Tuesday, May 9 for a possible Red Dead GI cover along with a newswire post (maybe a bit earlier) is my very last guess before E3. And the investor's call 2 weeks later is the "delay or no delay day" for me. Almost zero hope left for a 2017 release if we'll hear something like "Rockstar hard at work... When Rockstar is ready to reveal more" again. And E3 is too late imo. Only 4 months of marketing (for a mid October release) - No matter how I look at it... Don't see that happening. So in the end #mayordelay always made sense i guess.

I'm paying brisk money to Rockstar to keep my expectations low, and Rockstar marketing consistently underperforms even my lowest bar. :p

What does R* say about Newswire?

Untitled.png

What does 'preeminent' even mean?

Untitled.png

That's it. For R*, it's not E3, it's their Newsire. They still have that E3 wound when they showed GTA3, but no body cared about it initially. Ego, my friend, ego and it's justified as far as I see it.

I feel bad for you. You must have missed out on the next-gen announcement at E3. It was a cool moment because they revealed it at the very end after everybody had given up hope.

Wasn't the GTA V next-gen announcement shown during the middle of Sony's presser? I remember it being very nonchalant.

I believe so. It was out of nowhere really. As you mentioned...

Yes it was, but the Next Gen announcement trailer is not the same as a RDR2 trailer. Plus it barely showed anything, important.

The Important videos were the Comparison Trailer and the First Person trailer, which were both released by Rockstar themselves.

Yup. It was shown to just show off the graphical enhancements and what not. Basically, showing the jump from the last-gen hardware at the time to the newest hardware.

If we get nothing next week, Kirsty can ban me for 3 days.

Haven't you done this like five times before?

No. I bet my gut and my privates.

Thats the opposite of likely.. If its releasing this year, they cant skip May or June for information

Like I've been saying for a while, there needs to be an announcement at some point soon because of preorders. Whether it is an official release date or a delay to Spring 2018, they're coming up on a point where it needs to be announced.

I could definitely see them busting out a release date alongside special edition details before the Take2 conference call, but wouldn't be surprised if they don't.

Have they got any plans between Tiny Racers and Gun Running? These next two weeks could be prime time for us.

It's like IV all over again IV was supposed to release in October 2007 but they delayed it to spring 2008.

Hopefully we get something soon. Maybe we'll get something on May 6? Its the same day the debut trailer for RDR1 came out. Zello I totally love your profile pic :^:

This is seriously getting ridiculous, I know Rockstar doesn't like to give away a lot before releasing a new game but if they really expect a 2017 release then we should've got something by now. They have the weirdest marketing techniques.

Indeed. IMO, Rockstar will not dignify E3 with any substantial RDR2 info. At most, Rockstar may release something in May (screenshots or more, maybe even the real RDR2 trailer), so that Sony and Microsoft will have something RDR2 to show in their console extravaganzas.

I know that way back in 2012, Rockstar did put up Max Payne 3 on the Hotel Figueroa before E3, as a way to have a presence nearby, while still shunning the actual convention.

In E3 2017, there are many big blockbuster games that could chose to buy the Hotel Figueroa space to dominate the external advertising presence in conjunction with blowout advertising inside E3. Many different products, not just video games, have had ads on the Figueroa.

Rockstar could choose to troll both E3 and us RDR2 fans, by paying highest-bidder price for the Figueroa in June 2017, and then putting up this:

This was the hotel in 2008, after a Los Angeles City ruling about mega-sized ad graphics on buildings.

The Max Payne 3 hotel mural didn't shun E3, considering it went up a month and a half before E3 even began, but was commissioned as a giant billboard for the game's release.

Trying to say that a GTAV Next Gen Announcement trailer doesn't count or compare to RDR2 Announcement is also just plain idiotic. Some of you need to get over your revisionist histories of Rockstar and E3 and come to terms that from 2001 onwards Rockstar were big supporters of the convention with both open announcements, behind closed doors demos and floor booths. Rockstar's lack of E3 presence is mainly come at the cost of their lack of output given they haven't put out a new title in nearly 4 years...compared the old days when they were at E3 with stations and buses set up for The Warriors, Manhunt and Bully. And that was 1 E3 event.

So it's just as feasible that with Take Two already having floor space and two games announced for 2017, one of them RDR2, that we'll be seeing or hearing more of the game at E3 in June. Not to mention the rumor of MS supposedly showcasing RDR2 on Scorpio at the event and of course Sony with the online exclusivity content going with all their other exclusive third party support.
