Anything scheduled for tuesday?

Duke O'Death, seems like, and maybe the Top Down adv. mode. I really hope no one goes into the week expecting something now.

Edit: New discounts as well.

Honestly, if you're going to do the whole "fake leak" thing - you need to start a new thread. Preface it with lots of ominous talk about how you might get fired or sued. Make vague claims about gameplay features. And then never post again.

Seriously, nothing hurts the credibility of a leaker like repeatedly coming back to post funny pictures of cats or make dick jokes.

It's not hard. You just have to put some thought into it. Try to come across like a functioning adult, instead of an uppity twat.

Hey, as i said, i have those information from a source, and i'm not trying to fake here. Why do people not understand that i just shared what i was told? I never said this is true, but i trust my sources.

No one can look into the future, so let's just wait till next week and then you can hate on me.

I'm just saying, employ a little theatre. The whole shrinking violet act isn't entertaining.

People seem to mistaken me with some kind of leaker or insider, yet i just shared what i've heard. i never said its true, i invited people to discuss about it. I didnt mean to annoy people.

I understand you are mad, why don't we just wait and see. Until then, happy info hunting. I've created this account to vote in the "when will we get info" poll on this topic, not to troll. But now that i see how some people are getting toxic about discussable info, i rather just end it here.

You posted nothing discussable? Vague information and no verifiable sources is not worth discussion. When called out on it you fell back on the "this is just what I've been told" and "wait and see". That's not encouraging discussion, it's encouraging more probing comments about the legitimacy of your "information", and you reacted negatively to it. As the old saying goes... Don't blame the haters, blame the game.

Everyone tone down the antagonism, please. Although we're all tired of fake leakers, you have to admit this guy is being more humble than all the others in the Online section (for example). It's very likely fake, but there's no need to start sh*tting on the guy because his account is two weeks old. If it doesn't happen, let it go, maybe he'll leave, maybe he'll stay.

Point being: we don't need to lose time trying to call his info fake. It likely is anyway. No need to derail the thread because of this.

Atleast someone. Yes, i'll definitely stay, cuz i can't wait for rdr2 either.

And yes, there's always a chance, probably a high one, that my info is wrong. I will find out next week if i can continue trusting my source.

So how long do you guys think this game was in development? I think it started around 2014 or so when a couple rumors started showing up.

Much earlier. I think right after GTA 5 or GTA Online.

There are mentions of developers working on an Unannounced Project (now edited to RDR2 in some cases) in their resumes since around October 2013.

There's no reason for RDR2 to need to be started after GTAV. Rockstar has plenty of manpower across its studios to pull off finishing one project while working on another. Who knows how early RDR started development. GTA V development started directly after IV came out, making it a 5 year cycle to build the game.

No, why? He asked what we thought, so i told him what i thought. Can you please not? Instead, you could share what you think when the game started development.

That's true, but i still think it was at the time of GTA Online.

"Now i don't know if my sources are correct" - The classic backup if nothing happens. "Take it with a grain of salt" is good too.

Anyway... I still think that we need something before E3 for a release this fall. I think most of us would agree when I say that RDR2 will come out either in October or November. E3 takes place mid June! For an October release Rockstar would have 4 months of marketing time (around 4,5 for early November). Sure, everything is possible, no doubt. But do you guys really think that's gonna happen? I just don't believe it. Not with Rockstar. Not with such a huge AAA title. Maybe I'm a bit pessimistic here but early May (in 3 weeks tops) is my personal deadline. If nothing happens at E3... well, then we can finally be sure about a delay at least. Damn I hope I'm so wrong!

October seems the safe bet and best given how stacked November is getting.

You think 4 months isn't enough time for a AAA title to get enough marketing to release and yet history has proved that wrong: Fallout 4 was revealed at E3 2015 and then released 4 months later to great success. Its something other developers and publishers applauded and, again thanks to No Man's Sky, is a marketing/announcement approach the industry is trying to take.

I mean when did GTAV's marketing really kick into gear? 4 months is ample time for a developer whose mere changing of a social media avatar grabs the attention of everyone generating hype. A magazine cover story with trailers and newswire posts will be enough to get info out and worked just fine for them in the past.

Here's my version of this:

May 2017: We get a few RDR2 screenshots, we go ape, and we forgive Rockstar and take back all the bad things we've said about them.

Rockstar can't want longer than May, because they need sufficient time for another long, frustrating info drought before they start actual marketing, timed for a late Nov 2017 planned RDR2 release.

August 2017: Rockstar releases the official RDR2 trailer. The world goes apesh*t.

Almost zero story info in this trailer - just some out-of-context snippets of cutscenes, which imply more richness, continuity and versatility of gameplay than is actually in the game. Slightly more than half of the trailer runtime is devoted to breathlessly overhyping RDR Online.

Sept 2017: Rockstar announces delay of RDR2 until Spring 2018.

They already know now they're going to do this delay to us, but for now, they are holding to a marketing schedule implying a Fall 2017 release date, to keep us all hooked and wishful, glowing with false hope, keeping the game forums hot with anticipation.

Jan 2018: Rockstar releases the RDR2 gameplay trailer.

Again, more than half the runtime is devoted to online gameplay and teasing of PvP modes.

I got this timeline from an inside marketing source that I *imagined* I talked to, while I was in a fever dream, when I fell asleep during an hallucination, after I got hit on the head. So it might not be exactly right.

He is wrong. Rockstar are running out of time to release a trailer and then delay the game, so they'll probably just delay it.

I also hope I'm wrong about the delay - that's just a comment on the past history of Rockstar apparently having trouble developing gameplay missions, stories and character direction - it is a lot of detailed work.

I actually do have confidence in the Rockstar designers to make an incredible, beautiful, atmospheric, large scale open western world, with a great soundtrack. The world designers are the best. And I think they get their work done on time.

However, I know Rockstar marketing, and how they love to troll the fanbase, and do so little work, while sucking up so much money. It is obscene how much of the budget goes to marketing, when they do so little. I think they will continue to starve us for info, all the way out until the final blitz.

A huge chunk of their marketing budget goes towards promoting the game to people that aren't us. I don't mean just us here on GTAforums, but also places like social media and sites like reddit. They go mad with billboards, TV ads, artwork on buildings, wraps on public transport like busses and trains - all over the world. They advertise to the people on the fringe of gaming, not people like us who are in the deep end. That type of advertising is not only expensive, but comes much later in their promotion schedule. They have our interest, they don't need to spend obscene amounts of money trying to get our attention. So a lot of their marketing and a lot of that budget goes to stuff we just don't end up seeing. Doesn't mean they do so "little", as we all know from GTA V and IV that they do much, much more than many other devs and publishers. They just ramp that stuff up 3-4 months before release and no sooner.

One thing that is very important is when screenshots and Trailers come out, we must take into consideration that the graphics might not be the same in final game. Yes, I know RDR2 is Rockstar's first game on Current Gen from the ground up, but as with most R* Pre-release information it's best to be cautious. Obviously some players are not interested in Red Dead Redemption 2 just because of it's graphics but nonetheless they are quite deceiving at times.

Do you remember the first GTA V trailer, where everyone thought that those graphics were unreal and that it wouldn't even look like that in the final game? Look at it and then look at the actual game, see any difference? They don't even need to make a fancy in engine trailer like all the others do to make their game look better, the game itself is enough

I actually don't understand how people think V trailer 1 looks better than the final game, other than the volumetric clouds and the camera tricks. All the rest is basically the same or even worse. Rockstar's trailers aren't really pre-rendered. RDR1's trailer had awful graphics too because it was so damn early.

Also, the graphics in the trailer for RDR2 don't look all too unbelievable. Not saying the game doesn't look very beautiful, but nothing jumps out to me as too good to be true.

And yet, after all these years, there are people who are still worried about the graphics not being the same in the final version. Rockstar doesn't need to prove anything to anybody, what we see is what we'll get.

The graphics in RDR2 are very similar to those of V PC's on maximum settings (and even V NG consoles). They're not unbelievable at all, not to mention a new RAGE version would obviously have better shaders and stuff.

The graphics in RDR3 simply look more like a +1 in GTA 5 NG, with the lighting effects and shading of RDR2. What's more unbelievable is the environmental stuff. How the NPCs seem to go about their business and make it look like a real small trading outpost/town. That stuff had to be pre-planned, all placed there to make it look nicer. No way there's that much ambiance going on in the game proper.
