True but he is probably helping to make a new IP for 2K which could be announced at E3.

I don't post here much (about once every 2 months) but when I come here I always feel the hype when I read through the posts. The Hypo-meter in this thread looks something like this:

All jokes aside I really hope we finally get some news regarding RDR2 tomorrow or very "soon". out of all the game developers, we chose to like the one that doesn't talk.

Yes but we had preparation for that. R* posted screens and said "stay tuned for much more next month" This will be pretty random if it happens

No that was after the slew of screens in September and they had a caption saying stay tuned for next month. Ill remain cautiously optimistic tho

Even though we might be setting ourselves up for disappointment, just when would be a good time to start releasing information if not now? We're 7/8 months away from the expected release window (we might expect delays, but it's still what they've officially stated). Could we be looking at nothing else other than a couple more trailers? RDR2 is going to be a massive game, so we expect magazine coverage, but what if they want to hold their cards really close to their chest this time?

 

Like Spider said, Rockstar have been getting quieter and quieter when it comes to marketing/interaction with fans. I am as optimistic as ever, I just hope we're not way off the mark on what they are planning.

Christ, this thread's perked up a bit in the last few hours. I'm genuinely, 99% expecting it to be Nintendo related. A cover featuring all the Switch's launch games by a fan/artist. If it's not Nintendo related I'd be surprised, given the console is out next month.

 

March or April is my guess for when we start to see things heat up. It really depends on where in the fall they plan to be. September is still my guess, so March/April makes sense to me.

You make a good case Jason, with the Switch releasing next month it definitely seems like the most appropriate guess out of all the games people have mentioned so far. The "custom" cover featuring a montage of games with Mario and Zelda/Link etc as the centrepiece.

Yea, when you think about it it'd be mad not to make the last mag before the Switch is out to be entered around the Switch.

 

Plus it allows them to get it out of the way for the RDR2 cover in March.

Injustice could work. Big custom cover with a ton of the heroes in the game. I feel like the "custom artist" thing is a giveaway that it's something like that, something the company hasn't or wouldn't produce normally. Rockstar would probably want to put the playable character(s) front and centre in their own artwork/artstyle.

This kind of has me trailing off to another thought: apart from the obvious trailers/screens, I'd really love to see some more artwork. Perhaps it'll come a lot closer to release, but we've only had the one piece so far and really when you compare it to all the other game art they've done it really lacks a lot of detail. Wasn't the GTA V GI cover the first time it was actually confirmed we would be getting three protags and what they looked like? Maybe they aren't ready to reveal who the characters are or something, but take a look back at the RDR1 gallery, amazing stuff.

Yeah it was. GIs cover was pretty much a re-reveal honestly. I'd love to see more art too but until they reveal the protagonist(s) it's hard to do.

 

Also talking about timing and all that regarding prior hints to other covers, Max Payne 3 and L.A Noire pretty much came out of nowhere.

There was someone on Andrew Reiner's twitter who seemed to know what the cover was. He works for a marketing company that has been associated with Nintendo with Splatoon in the past, so the train might have to slow down quite a lot. On the other hand, to keep it running - the same marketing company also has GameStop as a client, who own GameInformer, so who knows if he just knows something.

 

Edit: After some research I found they do more stuff for Nintendo and seem to be their brand agency. It's gonna be Switch stuff.
