31st at 12pm EST sees Game Informer announcing RDR2 as their March cover, issue goes live February 1st. Newswire on 31st advertises issue with "more to come". Feb 1st issue goes live and Newswire announces new trailer for Thursday that debuts and is more story driven introducing the main protagonist(s), ends with a release date.

 

....yeah I think I've posted this exact scenario multiple times now before RDR2 was announced so we're back to square one here. Lol

I think the next time they say anything or release media, it'll be in conjunction with a release date. In reality we're only 8 months away from the fall release window starting and a lot of high profiled games have gotten release dates, all seemingly avoiding the second half of the year...lol

I think we're only getting a release date much closer to the actual release, probably between June and August. Until then we're probably getting a Game Informer preview cover and some preview-blow outs, a new trailer and some screens.

To add clarification on those images, they both originated from reddit. The poster is from someone who claimed a friend working at Rockstar gave it to him and it's basically a retail poster.

 

The Target preorder cards have a more interesting story where according to the poster they arrived at his store today with a street date of February 5th. A Sunday. Super Bowl Sunday. Its kind of weird though that they're street dated like that though as the reservation cards are nothing new as both Target and Best Buy do it. The timing is just interesting..

They are both from different continents too. Though the "street date" thing is a bit odd indeed, it's plastered all over the shops here that you can pre-order, and the displays are game cases, so it's not like the cards would be something necessarily new. I'll be tucked up in bed during super bowl so I'll check my phone first thing in the morning just in case

 

Whatever happens, our anuses are prepared for the explosion.

Deifnitely interesting, had not seen there were more pictures here after you tweeted me. Weird they have a street date but it could be a generic "yeah bring them out on this day for (arbitrary reason)". I still have this icky feeling Rockstar don't do Superbowl, but it is interesting nonetheless. And hey, GI cover for Feb was revealed on Jan 4...

 

This is giving me 2012 fuzzy feelings all over again.

Spider, silly question but was the #RDR2 hash tag put on those other display boxes and posters we've seen? It doesn't even appear in the trailer...

 

Again street dating reservation cards for general stores here in the US like Target or Wal-Mart just strikes me as weird since why couldn't you just throw them out now? There's no game with them. Unless of course they're part of a PR plan to roll out marketing next week that might include a release date and stores will get those after Rockstar makes the announcement to avoid leaks, given someone leaked these cards and their sale date? Lol Again those cards are also missing the Fall 2017 window or date when other Target cards include them including GTAV.

 

Next week could be interesting. Again, hypothetical situation could see a trailer next week that includes the release date and then gets cut down to 30 seconds to air on Sunday right before the Super Bowl. Something Sony once did for The Order 1886.

 

Or this all means nothing and we wait more months...lol

Logic might indicate that a street date would imply a coordinated release of new info as part of a real marketing campaign. But Rockstar's past marketing statistics indicate that there will be great disappointment and lack of info near this street date.

 

The #RDR2 hashtag may indicate an upocoming lazy, contentless fan hype twtter microcampign.

 

Not expecting any actual game content preview until late March, at best. And if internal Rockstar management at that time is figuring out that the release date will slip, no info in March, either.

If anything, them mentioning the Autumn 2017 date again is a bit more confidence in the game being released this year. The GTA V delay which was from Spring to September was exactly around this time. Could we finally see a Rockstar game not get publicly delayed before release?

 

...Nah, who am I kidding. Spring 2018 here we come!

Well I'm extremely hyped although Rockstar has done a good job at disappointing since the reveal so we all should remain a bit skeptical BUT Take Two Earnings call on the 7th and now this sounds like something is going to drop in the beginning of February. I mean thinking about it if the game is coming in October more marketing should begin with either a GI reveal with release date or second (proper) trailer and then I'd expect Rockstar to hide again till April or May.
