I don't know about you all but I'm really looking forward to hearing the new musical score. The score in Red Dead Redemption was incredible.

How about making an actual proper Red Dead series forum now, eh?

Change the background and all that. The creative people on here should get on it. I'll pay money! Well, the money part was a joke but seriously, I know you guys could make a badass Red Dead Forums.

Kirsty and friends, get on it! :D

I really do hope the on foot gameplay immensely improved from GTA V and RDR1. Have any of you went back and replayed RDR1 and actually though to yourself "wow, this game's controls have definitely aged well"?

I did. The shooting is pure bliss but it does feel a bit clunky due to it using an early version of RAGE

The shooting is still satisfying, but I feel like that can be attributed to the sound effects only, otherwise the aiming is super floaty (I play on expert only) and the animations are super clunky.

The game's also too damn easy lol, I'm playing Undead Nightmare and it takes like 6031104 hits from the zombies until you die.

Hopefully there is a "Hardcore Mode" option for Single Player. One thing I thought that was a pretty cool addition to the GOTY Edition only. Stuff costs more in the world (weapons/ammo, et cetera...) Health doesn't regenerate as quickly as it normally does. And more...

Also, I thought the Pause Menu was more cooler looking when the color changed to black and white instead of the original red and black.

This is what every future open world title from Rockstar needs imo. Difficulty settings! That has always bugged me with Rockstar. I really think that GTA IV, GTA V and RDR were too easy. Especially when you're a long-time fan and used to their games.

I don't think they necessarily need difficulty settings, they just need to limit us in certain area's for us to be more clinical and calculated, and respect deaths more and therefore the game naturally becomes more difficult.

Back in the day when Vice City and San Andreas were about, Rockstar games were damn near impossible sometimes without cheats, I know I cheated through all of them. I understand that this was mostly down to ancient physics, no cover system and unmovable camera etc. But it was often down to many other limiting factors too, like checkpoints, and consequence of death whilst on a mission.

I think in realistic open world games like this that Rockstar create - I think dying needs to somehow feel more significant nowadays because of how physics have made games easier when in combat. In their older games dying was not an option, but nowadays no biggie, checkpoint was only 2 seconds ago. Deaths in modern Rockstar games don't have any real consequence, which makes you think - why bother giving us a health at all.

I have vivid memories of dying on a Vice City mission. It was painful and some missions took me a looooong time to complete.

Replayed San Andreas for the PS4 and beat it.

Getting TO THE VERY END of the mission, just to die or run out of time was brutal. I'd spawn, drive back to the mission marker, cutscene, do the mission all over again, rinse and repeat.

Unfortunately I beat it....while only cheating four times. Super pissed at myself because doesn't count with trophies. Might do another run through later when I have the time.

But checkpoints really help somebody out nowadays. Playing a game like 3, VC and San Andreas in today's world is brutal. We are so used to the system we have now, it's hard to go back without some sort of help.

Going from the crushing difficulty of the 3D era R* games to the casual friendly HD era games just shows that RDR2 needs a difficulty meter. RDR GOTY edition had a hardcore mode so I dont think they'll remove it

Nothing really but Zelnick has spoken a few words.

"Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has shared some new insight into Red Dead Redemption 2. Speaking today at an MKM Partners event, the executive first discussed the reaction to the game's announcement in October. "Not shocked, very pleased," Zelnick said.

"Lastly, Zelnick teased that Red Dead Redemption 2 will offer "incredible emotional depth" and more.

"You can expect there to be great story elements and great gameplay elements," he said.

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/red-dead-redemption-2-will-offer-big-sprawling-opt/1100-6445515/

"I think the times are right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of America again."

Interesting...

Damn good news. I hope to hell they deliver.

He added that the game's announcement trailer has picked up more views that what the company expected. Overall, "anticipation is enormous" for the open-world sequel, Zelnick said.

Usually when CEOs say sh*t like this, it's just shareholder hype. But I can and do believe this one. Perhaps Rockstar does not quite realize the reverence that we bestow upon them. Perhaps TTWO thinks that Rockstar Games is just a video game developer, cranking out product for the twitching, drooling masses. At their best, they are much more than that. They are artists of the age.

Ofcourse taketwo know that. Back in 2007 take two was completely dependant on rockstar - they even said it themselves. Why do you think T2 give rockstar all the time and creative freedom they need too. They are fully aware of what rockstar are capable of, and so is every other developer in the industry.

Not bumming rockstar lol i just respect them more so than other developers because they release quality games without annualizing them and compromising on product quality.

Ps im not correcting the typos cos im drunk. Peace

There's a game awards show coming up on December 1st and we might get to see actual gameplay of RDR2 during it. I'm excited!

It seems unlikely to me that R* will be at the TGA's, it's more likely they'll be at Playstation Experience on December 3rd.

Wouldn't go as far as saying a date, I think we'll get that in like Q2 2017.

Well, regardless of which event they show more information at, I'll be ready and waiting. December is almost here and I'm hoping we'll see more before the year is over.

I don't expect anything new about RDR2 this year. It makes sense to think of a March-April Game Informer reveal with a second trailer, kicking off a marketing campaign that lasts for 4-6 months starting from May-June. All kinds of hands-on previews, short trailers and screenshots will be revealed in that period and info drought would never find us.

I agree, I was talking about the PS4 version of Red Dead Redemption (via PS Now which also can stream to pc) not RDR2 lol

kulZYTz.pngIf You look at the top of the carriage you can see to suitcases Which is weird because in the 1890 and even in RDR people still used trunks to travel and carry valuables. In fact I got this from the Smithsonian. (Suitcases began as an afterthought in the luggage and leather goods business, but they soon became the very symbol of travel. An 1897 wholesale price list included the words “suit case” only twice in a 20-page list of luggage types. In a 1907 T. Eaton & Co. catalog, trunks took up a full page while suitcases share a page with club bags and valises. In a 1911 United Company catalog, however, around 40 percent of the advertisements were for suitcases. (It's worth pointing out that these catalogs were from North America, where migration required people—and not just the wealthy—to carry their own belongings far and often). Check out the people in background Hats also

I'm gonna cross that river.

I'm gonna catch tomorrow now.

I think the present state of RDR is summed up here:

The state of this forum has fallen considerably.

Though yes this is expected to happen when you release a glorified tech demo as a trailer.

Once the next thing drops, we will be excited again

Based on the pathetic marketing drought we experienced with GTAV, I think it's gonna get a lot worse before it gets better here. It will be a long time until the next thing drops. Sad but probable.

Not as long as GTA V's one-year drought. We are not going to pass April 2017 without new information. 6 months of drought at maximum since October, which is only half of GTA V's!
