Echoing a few of the comments above, I too saw the Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer last night on TV. Has Rockstar ever done anything like that in the past?

interesting enough is the release period. They never give a release date most of the time. They say It's either coming soon or don't say anything at all. Almost every title got handled that way. Right or wrong?

It'd be amazing if he had some subtle cameos here and there from time to time. Just like Half-Life's G-Man, if you know what I mean. Edited by toxluv

Yeah I've been seeing a lot of adverts too. for the first rdr it took 6 months between the first and second trailers, and for V it was more than a year.

Yeah, never heard of them announcing a release date before and then having to backpedal ...

My question, was the first trailer of GTA V featured on TV during its first week it dropped back in 2011? The Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer aired on TV. That was a first for me seeing a trailer for a game that actually tells you to "Pre-Order" now for a game that's supposingly due next year.

Edit: I see a few your guys' comments. Thanks for the heads up.

Yup, no release date,it just ended. Rockstar has no problem saying coming soon or not saying nothing at all before they put a date on it/c

Fact is they were working on this game before GTA V Dropped so it most likely will be done on time Oct 3 2017

So, RDR2 DLC ...

After playing through RDR, taking my time, enjoying the beautiful world and the fairly decent story, I longed, I wished, that I could ride a Sanchez through that beautiful world. RDR is just *made* for this. But alas, I knew that it could not be. This is the old west; Rockstar wouldn't be frivolous and nonsensical enough to bring modern vehicles into the game and let us have that kind of fun.

But then, there was an RDR DLC. Zombies. F*ckin' zombies!!! WTF!!!!!

OK, I thought, then maybe the magical appearance of modern offroad vehicles in RDR isn't so crazy after all. Why not do something fun for the fans, I thought. But no. No vehicles in RDR. Zombies was it. Bummer, man.

After a couple of years, when I stopped playing RDR, I forgot about my previous strong wish to ride a Sanchez there. I accepted the reality, that it could never be.

Many years later, another Rockstar game eventually was released, called GTAV, along with it's "free" sidekick, GTA Online. OK, I loved this. Big beautiful countryside, with the Sanchez and all manner of other offroad toys! Great!! It satisfied my half-decade-old craving, from RDR, to have these vehicles in a big, HD, super-detailed, beautiful map! This is all I could wish for. It was consistent with the reality of the GTAV world, and things were good.

But then, there was a GTA Online DLC. Stunt races. F*ckin' hamster tubes in the sky!!! Pure fantasy. No need for the beautiful, realistic GTA Online virtual world below. It could be empty space around Aldebaran.

Ths GTA0 DLC is just a f*ckin' cartoon!!! This could be the f*ckin' Mario Brothers or something. WTF!!!! So much for reality.

Now we're here, breathlessly awaiting RDR2, and pondering what DLC might be released to keep it fresh, over the half decade or more that we will be waiting for a new GTA game. And now, it's got me thinking, I long, I wish, that I will be able to ride a Sanchez through this beautiful new RDR2 virtual world. What a waste of this beautiful countryside, if we can't do that. But alas, I know that it cannot be.

But......if Rockstar can drop DLC with Zombies in the old west, and if Rockstar can drop floating hamster tube races in 2013 San Andreas, why the living f*ck can't they give us a Sanchez in RDR2?????

So this is my question to the world. It deserves a proper answer. And that proper answer that starts and ends with, "Yes, good sir, of course we can give you a Sanchez in RDR2. Here you go! Have fun!!"

Not at announcement time. The Spring 2013 release was announced much later.

So now that we know that Rockstar has yet again a partnership with Sony and timed MP DLC....i think i can kiss my wish for a RDR2 Xbox One Scorpio bundle goodbye, can't i? Not the end of the world, but i do hope it won't mean Rockstar is only simply going to port the PS4/Pro version to Xbox One/Scorpio and be done with it. It's no secret that Scorpio will be more powerful than Pro and i sure hope Rockstar takes advantage of that extra power. Remains to be seen i guess.

I wouldn't worry too much about this. The days of Rockstar being tied to a single console (GTA3/VC/SA) disappeared when the combo pack was released on the original Xbox. Everything you've read about the "partnership" has been from Sony's marketing and not Rockstar. And why not? That's their job and their prerogative. I don't begrudge them that. They likely paid a PRETTY PENNY for this exclusivity. Take for example the fact that RDR1 will be coming to Playstation Now. After RDR1 was made backwards compatible on Xbone, sales of the game jumped 6000%! That's a sh*tLOAD of money for a product that was already in the marketplace (i.e. FREE MONIEZ to R*). Do you think they looked at that proven revenue stream and then said, "Here you go Sony, why don't you give this away for free." Nope, it was all part of their deal. Sony paid to make that happen.

And, by the way...take it from a Marketer...make sure you really read the language Sony used to describe this exclusive content:

We are pleased to announce that PS4 players get first access to earn select online content in the vast open world of Red Dead Redemption 2.

"First access"? "Earn"? "Select"? "Online content"? That sounds like for 30 days or 6 months, you'll be able to grind to buy an Explosive Rifle in RDROnline. Maybe a special horse skin? Some sweet threads? I'm not sure what it will be, and I don't mean to denigrate what Sony's doing...I think it's great! But one rule in Marketing is - you always use descriptions that are one-step shy of lying about how great things are. This description doesn't sound all that compelling, but...who knows? I hope it's something awesome.

But, just because Sony has a timed exclusive, doesn't mean R* doesn't have other deals in place with Microsoft and companies like Nvidia for further down the line. I am VERY hopeful for and expectant of an RDR2-branded Scorpio! AND...to go a step further...I'm hoping there will be a crazy announcement closer to launch that the game will have a 4K mode. Even watching the 1080p trailer on my 65" SUHD 4K tv was enough to make my brain explode!

And I also wouldn't worry about the power differences between the Pro and the Scorpio. These days, those specs are constantly changing, between firmware updates, software patches and cloud-based computing. And once it gets released on PC, THAT will be the definitive version.

Anyway...glad you're excited and I look forward to playing with you in RDRO on XBL! Who knows...maybe by then Sony will have consented to cross-platform play!

I'm gonna be original and guess that Rockstar will introduce all new characters (which they pretty much do in every game), that has NOTHING to do with the first Red Dead Redemption whatsoever..
