I don't think you can make a good western that doesn't take place in the American Frontier. It wouldn't be right...

I think a game set in the great lake region going west to the pacific set during the later part of the fur trade era would be sweet, but yeah idk how "western" that would be.

I think I figured what the man in the trailer means ... the leaked map shows an island? on the top-left corner which is not connected to the rest of the map - does it mean at the start of the game they do some big robbery there and burn everything down and then leave this place and you will never visit it again for the rest of the game???

Something interesting I noticed ... the game is already rated PEGI 18 ... it shows at the german Rockstar YT channel when you watch the trailer there ... so it seems Fall 2017 really could be the real deal ... and we might see regular updates on the game instead of a year info drought as it was the case with GTAV.

With the first GTAV trailer we didnt get a rating, release date, platfroms, and it looked super early. Maybe this game is actually ready.. Not getting my hopes up though.

As far as I know they never released a game in time ... at least not in recent years

One thing to keep in mind is that, so far, Take2 has nothing substantial slated for 2018 fiscal year except our beloved RDR2. All of 2K's heavy weight has been released this year and they probably have nothing to support T2's lineup next year, which leaves R* alone to carry out the job. Let's also remember that the delays that we used to regularly see during the 2009-2013 period happened when R* was literally busy with more than a project at a time. They were able to push 4 large games, three of which were open world, in four consecutive years, plus the additional content for each game, so the idea of a delay was nothing but expected given how busy they really were at the time.

 

The current situation is far different from those years and any comparison falls short when you realize that they've nothing announced except RDR2. The phrase 'it wouldn't be a R* game if it doesn't get delayed' is becoming a cliche and stands on no ground other than blind pessimism. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a definite Fall 2017 release.

Something tells me they'll release seven small trailers for all the characters shown on the teaser picture. Like the MTF trailers for GTA V or trailers for every important story character in IV and Episodes.

I don't think it will be delayed and if it is then it will be a small delay like RDR, lots of people like to bring up the GTA delays but nobody brings up that the original Red Dead Redemption had it's first trailer in May 2009 and released in May 2010.

 

Ok it was supposed to come out in April but a month delay isn't too bad, i don't particularly subscribe to the viewpoint that because GTA had loads of delays that this will as well.

 

Not to mention it's probably been in development for 5+ years and there's still a year or so to go.

The one thing that makes me positive it won't be delayed is 1. you can already pre-order it and they have already some sort of boxart (surely this will change till release) and 2. it already has a PEGI rating of 18+.

Both GTA V lacked when it was revealed ... even a year later

 

So for now I'm optimistic that RDR2 will indeed release in Fall 2017 ... especially if they show the next stuff at PSX in December!

PEGI has no Rating Pending status, that's why. It's a preliminary rating. It's not actually rated if you go on the PEGI website.

 

However I also think we're looking at a set release date this time, they seem really sure. And if the game has indeed been in development since 2012/2013, that's an even better sign. GTA V was announced when it was in development for like a year.

Maybe this has been already noticed, but in the final part of the trailer the guy on the left is holding 2 pistols. In RDR that wasn't possible if i remember correctly.

In the mission where you head out to ridgewood farm with the marshal and deputies to stop a gang terrorizing it, when you get to the barn with the guy that has been hung, in the cutscene marshal can be seen duelwielding his revolvers, so I wouldn't hold out hope just yet, would be cool though
