My mates been doing this money thing and he's just got a message cone up saying he's been banned from Online. Be careful folks...

 

Nobody ITT will believe you because they want to comfort themselves into thinking that they won't get banned or have their money wiped. This is a big exploit, Rockstar isn't just going to let this one fly by.

there is no point banning glitchers who just increase the games player count (and probably cost others money in freeroam wars)

Just my two cents:

 

The last time this (similar) glitch worked, no money has been taken, no bans have been dealt. So I don't think it is different this time without R*'s policy changing.

 

The other glitches have been usually fixed workdays, one recent dupe one on a Sunday (blue circle "fix", that is).

 

The last swap did get a fix and a forced disconnect the same day too, iirc.

 

So, I think that R* can't do much about the swap glitches, so they prepare a hotfix asap to prevent further damage.

Tomorrow when I'm sat at my desk at work pushing buttons and talking to assholes I might regret spending my Sunday doing nothing but pushing buttons while staring at my tv and reading all these posts. But I doubt it. I can't stop either. I did promise myself I'd stop at 100million.

A specific filter such as this would of had to be downloaded by every player beforehand.

Nope - not entirely, merely pointing out the ease at which R* could find those who cheated glitched money.

 

GTA online runs on a peer to peer online service. It would be extremely difficult to find those who glitched money (unless they added a specific filter in that reports back to Rockstar's severs such as the poorly written example you posted).

 

R* could of added better servers and have better control over things but they decided to be cheap about it.

 

Not getting into pedantry, however, the 2m goes into the player's bank balance, or, cash balance.

Therefore, it's a "database" transaction and trackable.

Rockstar severs do not keep track of every individual deposits being made or extremely detailed archived history of a player. There is no "database" such as the one you speak of.
