Why so many recycled locations?

The map in GTA is gorgeous with literally thousands of unique locations yet I seem to be sent to many locations that I've been to before doing something else. Yesterday I was at my grow house which is in the parking lot where you get the vans in the Pac Standard setup mission and I went on a sell mission and the location it sent me to was the same place you drive the van from the same mission to blow up so that resupply mission was basically a Pac Standard setup mission but for my MC club. I had a full warehouse I needed to sell and the mission was were you have to land two Cubans on the dirt road in Blaine County and sure enough the spot to land was also the location of my meth lab. This has happened enough times with a lot of different locations so I'm pretty confident it's not a coincidence.

I've noticed that the MC work seems to have more recycled locations than CEO work but CEO work still has a decent amount. Some of the recycled locations make sense like the lost trailer park but most of them don't.

I don't know a lot about coding but for the people that do is it just easier to reuse the same locations or is it basically the same amount of work to use a recycled location as it would be to use a new location? One would think since R* developers made the map which I'm sure took a whole lot of time and resources they would try to use as many of the unique places they created instead of just using the same location over and over again for different things.

Anybody else notice this? Is this just pure laziness or is it a big time saver for the developers?

I agree. There are parts of the map completely neglected for missions. I can't believe the lighthouse was simply used as a cut screen or that the mountains aren't used at all for anything other than fly bys. It makes you wonder if they remember the map at all from 2013.

The map only has so many landmarks. Rockstar loves to blow their load early and use things up without thinking about future developments.

Most of them aren't really landmarks just parking lots, dirt roads, alleys, etc.

They're landmarks to somebody.

Really, though, the map is cluttered on its own, and when it comes to stretching out online content over three years, there's bound to be some absolutely horrific overlap.

If everything is a landmark then it kinda defeats the purpose of having landmarks.

I expect some overlap but the amount of overlap is kinda ridiculous I mean some things are exactly the same with the only difference being the name. The map is big enough that the only real overlap should be actual landmarks like Trevor's trailer, Lester's warehouse, Martin's house, etc. Using the same parking lot or building when there are a hundred other random parking lots or buildings to choose from just seems like laziness.

The map of Los Santos/Blaine County is probably one of the most diverse prop/structure/building wise in gaming history. There are so many unique buildings that 98% can be found in the real Los Angles/Southern California. Rockstar has a lot, and I mean a lot, to go off of. I have no idea why they choose to reuse the same locations. Sucks...

ahm... what? "blow their load early" It took them 3 years before they installed simple elements from gta4 to the game.

R* is doing the excact opposite of what you are saying.

In Cracked, you actually go crack a safe in the same building you cracked a safe in for a Contact mission.....

It could be due to how the environment is coded for NPC interaction (the invisible wire tracks they follow that let them go to some locations and avoid others), how only a few safes are coded to open, etc. Odds are they'd have to recycle. Heck, they were recycling locations 2 years ago in contact missions.

Don't worry though. I'm sure more locations will be available around the same time the new land mass areas are added and the casino opens!!
