Rhoda
I know I would, and I think that's what makes it uncomfortable. We don't think about playing characters in video games because the empathy ends there. That episode took it one step further and implied life went on when we shut down. The Odyssey
I was impressed by season 4 but I felt like it lacked the social commentary which the other seasons had. For example, Nosedive commented on the artificiality of society and the diversion of ones true self for the sake of virtual points. White Bear commented on the hypocrisy of capital punishment in the digital age. The National Anthem explores the power of the press and social media in keeping audiences glued to their screens, you get the idea. Crocodile was my favourite of this season, closely followed by USS Callister. What stops Callister from being my favourite was a gaping plot hole - memories can't be stored in DNA. Honestly they should have just reused the cookie idea from White Christmas.
BöömBäpper
I discovered this show week ago from netflix and yesterday finished binge watching all the episodes. Definately in my top 10 of tv series and can't wait to see more.
Guest Billy Russo
Had to go pretty far back to find this. What are your thoughts on Season 5? I personally really enjoyed it. I think Striking Vipers was my favourite, which brought up some interesting subjects mixed with video games and VR, I liked it. The one with Miley Cyrus was my least favourite, but it was probably the most 'Black Mirror' out of them all with the technology. I thought Smithereens was a nice change of pace, and really well acted. That one didn't rely on technology too much, and was more grounded in the reality of today and could actually happen. Even though this was a lighter Season with only three episodes, I felt it was better produced than Season 4. Season 4 had a lot of weak episodes, which felt like filler. I liked these being almost movie-length and they just felt better thought out. Even the Miley Cyrus one was decent, it was just the weakest I felt. I've seen some people saying they enjoyed that one the most, so it just shows how divisive Black Mirror episodes are.
Furry_Monkey
@Billy Russo I really enjoyed season 5. As you suggest it wasn't as dark as some of the previous seasons, but it didn't lose anything that makes it Black Mirror. Honestly I couldn't pick a favourite episode, but at a push I would say the Miley Cyrus one, mainly because I was nearly pissing myself laughing every time I heard the song "On a Roll" (big NIN fan here). I never thought I'd have a Miley Cyrus song stuck in my head! Edited June 10, 2019 by Furry_Monkey
