Deeply saddened by this news. It was only today "Thriller" came into my head walking around in University... then I came home and heard this.

Very saddening.

Let's take a look back at the songs he wrote:

They called him "The Invisible Man" because he was such a modest man and very down-to-earth and didn't like to take credit for undoubtedly some of the greatest songs in Pop music. He was a lovely man.

Rod is the man with the ciggy in his mouth.

f*ck! That's awful news. I've been raving to people about him for years, especially for Thriller, Give Me the Night, and my personal favorite MJ song; "Baby Be Mine". It's been a hard sale because like said above, his nickname's quite apt.

RIP :(

Rodney Lynn "Rod" Temperton (October 1947 – September/October 2016) was an English songwriter, record producer, and musician from Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, England. He initially made his mark as the keyboardist and main songwriter for the R&B funk/disco band >>>Heatwave<<< before writing several internationally known songs performed by Michael Jackson, including mega-hit "Thriller" as well as "Off the Wall", "Rock with You," and numerous others. His death from cancer was reported by his publisher on 5 October 2016, stating that he had died in the previous week and his funeral had already taken place.

Mr. Temperton "The Invisible Man" or Funky Groovy Rod, like I like to call him, was not really known by the mainstream public but among soul, funk and disco lovers, like me, he is. To me his works are phenomenal and he was a very talented songwriter and musician.

>>>May his funky groovy soul rest in paradise<<<

Here's a interesting and well documented 60 minutes interview of this unknown genius of music.

Please keep posting his compositions. It's a great tribute to him and a chance for those who didn't knew him to discover his great work.

Let me share a little story with you while :music:

My favorite MJ album is Thriller. I remember my mother buying me the CD in 1998 because I suddenly had become a MJ fan just by watching the video a few months earlier when she had bought herself the History video tape by MJ. I knew some of his songs and videos but for some reason I can't remember hearing or seeing Thriller before. Anyway I was instantly hooked to the sound and the spectacular video. I'm an 80's enthusiast, especially for the early to mid 80's years. As a kid I used to play my parents vinyl records but also some of my uncle's tapes from the early 80's. A lot of pop from that time but also soul and disco music by African Americans whom I liked the best. I loved these black round thin wheels that would years later become one of my passions. (Music CD's are death to me) Even if Off The Wall is my second favorite and as fantastic to me but I always had love for the early 80's funky and synth sound. Baby Be Mine and P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) are one of my favorites on Thriller. I'm a sucker of those killer guitars by David Williams and Paul Jackson Jr. I remember not liking the song The Lady In My Life for years. I thought it was boring and always skipped it. For the last 5 years I started to pay more attention to the music and lyrics and I can say that it's a very good ballad and it shouldn't be ignored.

Here are some more favorite tracks of mine written by Rod Temperton. The list is huge. Let's keep posting.
