The C-01 influence is obvious, I don't see how there's even an argument over it. The overall shape is almost identical for Christ's sake. If it didn't have the Tron-esque lights and you took the wheel covers along with the fenders off, it'd basically be the C-01, just a bit bulkier. Too bad that cannot be done, it would be one sexy ass bike if it was possible. Oh well, still looks quite nice blacked out - I'd love to see it in pure black without the fenders. wink wink

I don't think anyone is disputing that the overall shape is influenced by the C-01.

The complaint is that, amongst other things, the hubcaps, the fluorecent lighting, the exposed engine, the front forks, the bulkyness and elongation, etc, all just add up to it not being as similar to the real thing, or even as "motorbike-looking" as many would have liked.

The bike is the mirror image of the C-01. I just hate the fact it has those neon lights. I can't see it as a tron bike at all even though I know and understand r* likes to mash vehicles, i ain't feeling this particular one.

Seat, diagonal cut from front of the seat to the swingarm, exhuast location, partially exposed engine, sidescoop, oval intake, headlight pod. . . all of these things are extremely similar. It's even got the triangular brace where the shock mounts under the seat. With the exception of the wheel and tire covers, the differences between the Shotaro and C-01 are quite minor. The two are almost as close as the Dominator is to a Mustang. Or do you think those two cars look totally different from each other?

 

I really have no idea what you're arguing about. If the two bikes were any closer, R* would have to pay licencing fees to Lotus.

If I had to guess, there's 1 (maybe two if they release the Shotaro as a Halloween vehicle) halloween vehicle (Sanctus) which I assume will be released on the 27th or 28th.

 

The other 4-5 vehicles will probably be divided into two, with the first group released on the 17th or 18th, and the second group released somewhere between the 21st and 25th.

You disputed it on the previous page. You dispute it your last sentence. The similarities are far more than just the overall shape. I even pointed them out. The bike overwhelmingly looks like a C-01. With R*'s generic mashups, it's the closest it can possibly be to a C-01. I'm baffled as to why you're denying it.

It looks far more like a C-01 than it does something different. A lot of R* vehicles clearly have a "primary" influence, and in this case it's glaringly obvious it's the Lotus bike. Again, I ask, what car do you think the Dominator looks like?

Look at the Ruiner. Camaro/ Firebird but with an older 300zx front end.

But yeah, these vehicles (most of them anyway) are a mash up of a few vehicles. Interpretation is in the eye of the beholder.

 

Banshee is a perfect example. All prior versions were heavily a Viper, but in V it actually looks a lot like a Supra and RX-7 mashup more than a Viper.

That includes the Dominator. I live in Texas. You see a Mustang every half mile. The Dominator is a mix of a whole bunch of Mustangs including some classic judging from the roof design. If the Dominator had that iconic Mustang rear passenger window design and a less slanted rear end then it would be very close to the S197 Mustang. That's why I keep begging for a new Mustang, I really want an S550. I absolutely hated the S197 the only ones I liked before the S550 were the 2013 refreshes.

 

The only vehicle I'd exclude would be the IV Sentinel because that is so close to the E46 M3 it's unreal.

That includes the Dominator. I live in Texas. You see a Mustang every half mile. The Dominator is a mix of a whole bunch of Mustangs including some classic judging from the roof design. What's obnoxious is that some people think that everything is 100% a matter of opinion. The Shotaro is clearly, objectively inspired primarily by the C-01. Short of using paragraphs and brightly-coloured lines to illustrate the similarities of every single body line, there's nothing more I can do to make that clear. But I'm done wasting my time. Have fun nitpicking little details so much that you think the Shotaro looks nothing like its very obvious inspiration.

The Shotaro's description says it's a hybrid and it has 2-wheel drive right? So in my imagination those wheel hub cover things house electric motors, which is why those covers are obligatory.

 

At least that's what I tell myself to help me sleep at night.

I think the shotaru can look nice,but so far I haven't seen a youtuber who doesn't use 'fancy-bright-glowing' colours on it.

Pretty much all you can do to it. I'm still iffy if I want to buy it and if I buy it, it'd be over a crew colour. Joonas provided me with a preview how I'd do mine. I was in the "nah, pass" group until I saw Xenon Blue on it as the secondary colour.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

meh, i'm not feeling this one. It looks bland for what it is and I don't even think it looks right. Saints Row got it right if they are going for tron but for me, ithe only tron thing about it is the lights. Nothing else.

That's because it's mostly a Lotus C-01. It was designed by Daniel Simon, who also designed the Lightcycles in Tron Legacy. The glow pattern and tire covers are from Tron, and the wheel covers and name come from Akira.

If only it did look like that, I'd buy one in an instant. However it resembles that in the same way that Postman Pat's van looks like a Dubsta, if you shut one eye and squint really hard with the other then there is a very vague similarity of overall shape.

Emphasis mine. My argument has been that the Shotaro resembles the C-01 far more strongly than a "very vague similarity of overall shape" while squinting really hard. My whole point is that it was primarily a C-01, and I even mentioned the Tron and Akira influences. What pisses me off is when people act like the small fraction of Tron influences overrides the vast majority of the bike being inspired by the Lotus. That's it!
