I dunno man, I like Luis the most but the other two about equally. Can't pick one.

V has this going for it, It's easier to pick the sh*ttiest protag in that game.

Luis of course, awful robotic character who kills for the lolz and thats it. No depth whatsoever he is on the same level as Franklin for me.

Niko. He doesn't feel very "alive" compared to the other two.

Thats what I would say about Luis, mindless killing machine with zero character or interesting motivation beyond being Tony's lapdog. Felt like a regression after Niko and Johnny.

Even GTA V's protagonists (apart from Franklin) are more "alive" and real.

Sunrise Driver

Johnny - the worst not just in GTAs but all games I've played.

I wish Trevor was in GTA 4. The best protagonist ever in games.

Luis. He's cool and I like him. He's loyal to friends and all that. What I don't like about him is that he lacks of character development. Niko and Johnny both have great characters developments and to me both seems like humans. Luis is little robotic compared to both. That being said, if I had to compare all the IV Trio, Luis is my least favorite protagonist. Plus, Gay Tony is actually the real protagonist of TBOGT IMO.

INFIDEL

OT: i voted luis. i actually strangely like him. he has style, his VA did a good job, and he's miles ahead of the V trio. but he lacks character development.

Algonquin Assassin

Luis.

Just don't connect with him like Niko and Johnny. Still a far better character than CJ and Trevor though.

The Dedito Gae

Luis is fun to play with and Niko is the f*cking man so i pick Johnny, he's still cool and better than most gta protags, i just get bored of playing with him really fast and i don't enjoy TLAD as much as i did.

Gnocchi Flip Flops

Niko. He doesn't feel very "alive" compared to the other two.

lol

Luis. The way he walks is, like TheOtherRyan once said, like he had a burrito shoved up his ass. He's just a stupid punk club owner with good connections and not much of a personality. The story was okay but he could've easily been replaced with a better character. Johnny would be second but there's nothing I can say that I hate about him, I think he's massively understood and people keep complaining about him and all I want to say is stfu but opinions, they're like asses and everyone has one. :sigh:

Niko is my favorite of course. Love his story, accent and attitude.

Haven't played the expansions in a long time but I always thought Johnny had a better story, you got to see a bigger range of emotions.

Yeah, this will be one sided. For me, Luis was the obvious choice here too. It's not like he's a bad character... just not nearly as strong as Niko and Johnny are and within his own story, Tony was the far more interesting character too.

And then, he's also the only IV protag with irritating traits I can't stand. I just really, really don't like the whole womanizing "alpha male" nonsense. It's so obnoxious. Compared to Niko and Johnny, Luis is like a frat jock. Thankfully, his genuine care and friendship with Tony helps balance out the douchiness somewhat, but the damage is done anyway.

It's so annoying. R* created this great, nuanced gay character, who isn't a laughable stereotype, but it's like they then had to turn the protagonist into a ladies man dudebro to offset "teh gayness", so the twelve year olds and homophobes wouldn't feel weird about playing a game called "The Ballad of Gay Tony".

Luis by a long shot.

He never really felt like he belonged in the IV story arc. I mean seriously look at him in IV during three leaf clover, he looks nothing like the way he does in TBOGT. I feel like Rockstar tacked him on as last minute DLC tbh.

I like Johnny becuase I Ike the idea of a biker he has a huge story and he is a badass

I like Niko becuase I like the idea of a hitman/bounty hunter and his military backround and great story and awesome friends and Roman who doesn't like him?

I'm gonna have to choose Johnny. He's greatly developed and all, but I was never a fan of the biker culture.

Luis. He is a cool character and all, but he seriously needed better character development and he needed to feel more human.

Wow, Luis is getting slaughtered :p And I helped. He's not a bad character, and I did like how he looked after his friends and Tony and did want to go straight (well, as straight as you can be working as a bouncer for a nightclub owner who's pissed off a lot of powerful crooks), but overall he was pretty bland, especially compared to Niko and Johnny. People compare him and Franklin all the time, and for good reason as they're very similar (want to get away from the hood, sort of the "straight man" surrounded by crazier accomplices, has being there for your friends as a major theme of his story, overshadowed by the other protagonists of his game), and I'll admit that I like Franklin better, as I found him better written and more interesting.

But a lot of Luis' cons are made up for by his relationship with Tony. It really is a great, excellently written dynamic that really is the heart of the game.

The Time Ranger

I like them all, Niko would be my favourite but to answer the question of who is my least favourite, I guess it would be Luis, I like him but I would rank Johnny over him.

I realise I just rated Luis as least favourite but in his defence he's a deeper character than you might think imo. Big rant below on how Luis is a better character than he's given credit for, fair warning. :)

He may seem to lack character development but why is this? The answer is that in his story arc he is often seen as the one who has it all together. He is Tony's right hand man, protecting Tony from himself, cleaning up his mess.

The same applies with Armando and Henrique, he looks out for them, they see him as a leader, despite Armando's constant aggressive demeanour towards Luis he knows that he needs Luis. When they have a deal going down and N.O.O.S.E storm it, Luis is there to get them out of trouble, the drug wars too, Luis is there to help them out, I think that Armando constantly belittles Luis's new life because he wants him back and perhaps resents his success.

Luis has pressure and stress coming from Tony, his friends and his family, remember him having to fight in the LC Cage fights for the Loan Shark Santos. Every character in the trilogy had trouble coming from all sides, what I think sets Luis apart is that he has nobody to really talk to about his problems. Niko had Roman his cousin, Jacob, and later he has Dwayne his kindred spirit, Johnny has Jim especially, along with the other brothers.

This leaves Luis, who has he got to really talk to, Tony is a mess, Armando is too caustic, Henrique probably coundn't comprehend fully, and unless the conversation is about what you can cover with gold plate, Yusuf is out of the picture. So I believe the reason that Luis is only seen to be an emotionless womanizer is because he doesn't have an opportunity to show another side of himself to anybody. We are shown that he cares for his family and friends, so he has a heart, he just doesn't have anybody to pour his heart out to. He is a man with many aquaintances but no friends. Perhaps this is why he used to fight in the cages, why he has the casual flings with women, (besides the obvious reasons), he is trying to find an outlet for his pent up frustration and worry.

Look at his surroundings, the glitz, glamour and the nightclubs. it's all about appearences, it's very superficial. The nightclubs provide a metaphor for his life, seemingly exciting and glamorous, but overall shallow.

I realise that I went very off-topic but Luis is a character that I like and I wanted to give my theory and opinions on him.
