Anyone prefers fun over getting 100% completion?

I like to work towards 100% if it actually gives me substantial rewards (VC). Being rewarded with just an achievement is lame.

Or an Annihilator that rarely, if ever Spawns... ;)

I remember once I accessed the Anihilator in Vice City with mods and the first thing I thought was "it's a good thing I didn't waste my time trying to get this".

If anything, the rewards for doing side missions are much better than the rewards for 100%. Give me a taxicab that jumps in the air or 100 more health points over a dumb t shirt any day.

Pigeons, amirite? ;)

Anyway back to the Topic on hand. You know what I find fun? Downloading a PPV/EV, and either improving on the supplied Liveries, or creating my own suitable ones for it. Then, install it into the relevant Directory, adding the Handling and various other Lines for it. Finally have fun Driving it around the Map.

^ And that's perfectly fine as long as you don't turn into a pretentious ass and look down on people who don't.

Now I just wonder which of the games has the largest 100% """""reward""""".

The pigeons are cool :D

The pigeons are easily the worst collectible in videogame history, not only they are too many and annoying to "get" but the reward is insulting.

On topic, i might try to 100% V someday but IV? Never, letter scraps and ufo pieces are nowhere near as annoying to find, although the toxic waste underwater is terrible, is not as terrible as the flying rats in IV.

Bully had fun collectibles, tried to do those at 100% but i always gave in and finished the game first and then everything loses it's purpose, 100%ing games should only be done before finishing the main campaign imo.

San Andreas was the first GTA I actually 100%, and after that I just made it something to aim for, which became part of the fun, this goes for any game with a percentage stat or list. Since GTA games (as with the open world format) offer the player things to do after the story, that completion stat isn't the end by any means. Free roam is also part of just kicking back and having a good time. I've found that aiming for the 100% does have one distinct advantage, which is attempting side objectives that I would otherwise ignore (e.g. golf in GTA V, Stunt Jumps in IV & V etc). Some of these tasks are tedious to say the least, but it ultimately adds to the gameplay value.

Cant you do both? I always have.

I know people like to complain about collecting hidden packages or flying rats etc but I like doing those types of things as you explore the map, go to places you otherwise wouldn't go to and it's relaxing as well just driving around listening to the radio.

slimeball supreme

When I see titles like this, I think of the people who screw around in multiplayer/co-op games and ruin it for other people then say "I'm just trying to have fun don't be such a tryhard"

ya ain't the arbiter of having fun, people

just enjoy the game

The word "fun" has 2 main issues:

1) Most of the time it's used as a synonym for over the top, wacky, crazy and frankly stupid stuff. Therefore it's so often being said that Saints Row is "fun" while GTA is this or that.

2) While everyone has their own idea of fun, most people think that their definition is the only true one and everyone else has to instantly and instinctively know what they are talking about, and also necessarily agree.

It would be easier for everyone if people would spend at least 10 second to think about more appropriate words to describe what they actually mean, but eh, this is the internet, it's easier to say whatever and blame others for not understanding.

I'll leave this here:

Would Pigeons be worth it if that was the only way to get the annihilator? That's what I think at least.

The very last thing I'd like to do in a video game is complete a check list of meaningless crap like some sort of virtual shopping list in order to get some achievement or collectible. Hell I don't really remember any game off the top of my head that grants significant gameplay bonuses if you complete it 100%

Getting 100% IS fun.

Couldn't agree more.

I still find it amazing how people hated the 'flying rats' as much as they did. It was relaxing and fun for me. The thing I've always disliked the most out of 100% is the stunt jumps as some of them dont trigger when you've thought they've done them right. Even so stunt jumps are still fun to me for the most part.

I wouldn't have minded the flying rats if they were a simple walk into collectible like the old hidden packages because getting a wanted level is just annoying.

And there were way too many of them IMO. However it was cool they often led to secluded places, but after doing them all once for 100% I just never felt the incentive to do them again.

I did end up doing the flying rats twice and enjoyed doing them both times. Granted there was a few years inbetween doing them, it's not like I want to do them every week though :) . I didn't mind getting a wanted level, as before I shot a flying rat I was always excitied/intrigued (dont know if I spelt that right) to see if this was a flying rat that would lead to a chase or not. So it did bring another element to things other than just walking into collectibles and that being that. Plus I always thought escaping the police was pretty easy so it wasn't like the chases lasted long.

SNT's Teleportation Menu 4 Life!

That's how I did them.

It probably didn't help that I done them in 20+ clusters.:p

Nah nah nah Gta 6

I only usually 100% games that don't have time consuming filler required to do in order to get 100%, GTA is pretty much one of those games, and when it comes to GTA (especially Online), I only really go after the stuff I want/need.
