I see nothing wrong with the Panmera, Boxter, Cayenne, or any Porsche for that matter. All of them look symmetrical and sleek, much better than Infiniti or Mercedes.

I also prefer paddle shifters over clutch shifters, I know that having extra legwork and handwork is fun from time to time, but that's not something I'd want in a daily driver.

^ Panamera and sleek shouldn't be in the same sentence. They're comfy but far from sleek.

I like the Panamera but just saying, it is a lot uglier than the 959

I'm not gonna lie, I cringe when I see someone post a pic of their beautifully configured and very clean looking car and say "Got some plans for her the next coming months" and in the next coming months they add a bunch of over-the-top aesthetic bits and a different set of rims that don't fit the car or they're just overkill, slam it and make it look just overall kind of tacky. I'm sorry, I know it's their car and people have different tastes. But at least I'm being honest, it kind of makes me a lot less interested.

I'm okay with adding a custom exhaust, doing whatever it is you want with your engine (although I despise those c*nts to "tune" rare cars like the R8 GT to get 1000hp out of them and make it hard to find a stock R8 GT) and adding a few bits here and there. But people overdo it. Maybe it's just me. All I'd do is probably add a tint, add an exhaust if I feel it would bring out the sound more and that's probably it. I'm not educated on doing whatever it is people do with their engines these days but I'm okay with that I mean that's just bonding with your car nothing wrong with that. And cheaper cars I'd probably do a chrome delete and wrap my mirrors/wheels in black but that's all. I don't mind custom cars don't get me wrong, but I'm very partial to the cleaner looking cars.

If you were, you'd know it's ridiculously hard to get a reliable 1000bhp out of anything. Any big performance boosting claims that aren't just smoke and mirrors are worthy of praise.

Hard and also don't forget it's not cheap at all.

Nothing wrong with that, I was talking about doing it on already rare versions of a car. R8 GT owner even agreed with me when I said "It's refreshing to see a stock R8 GT. Soon there won't be any left will there?"

The GT isn't really "special" IMO. In fact very few limited run sports cars are. It's just a normal V10 R8 with a stick-on rear spoiler, a few lighter body panels and a remap. IMO Audi are the absolute worst for this, trotting out special edition after special edition which are nothing more than a funny plaque and a price hike. At least when other marques do limited run versions of their cars they actually put some effort in.

In my eyes, most custom wheels fall into 2 categories. They are either gaudy and truly awful-looking. Or they just look generic and cheap (especially since you see them across many different makes). There are a few exceptions, but for the most part, OEM almost always looks better.

I know there are some people who actually buy wheels for performance reasons, but those are hidden in a sea of garbage.

I despise the heavy influx of large vehicles on FWD platforms. I dont think a two plus ton vehicle (especially a SUV) should be FWD and powered by a (usually grossly underpowered) four cylinder engine. I often find myself very jealous of RWD full size vehicles that are exclusive to other regions of the world (i.e. ford falcon, GM zeta platform, and so on)

Nothing against FWD in general: small, lightweight fwd cars can be a blast to drive, but when the weight increases and the power doesn't, the drive tends to become boring IMO

Honestly get annoyed reading "oh my god they could kill someone" in every video that shows cars driving fast. Yes they could. Yes they're being selfish. But I read that all of the time and honestly really couldn't give any less of a damn anymore it made a cool video. sh*t just seems so forced too, like they just have to say it every time.

Uh, and the Gallardo Superleggera is the same sh*t, literally the same thing but everybody praises it. And IIRC they both have slightly more horsepower than their original counterparts. I'm sorry, I have nothing against that strategy and still find both very special cars, but that's just me...

This is going to sound defensive-fanboyish:

I find it annoying when car reviewers rag on the GT-R's interior quality. I know you can get, for example, Porsches at a comparable price that have more plush interiors, but one objective of the GT-R is to prioritize ""affordable"" performance, so interior amenities understandably take a back seat. I know the R35 is a 6-figure car, and a luxurious interior isn't unreasonable to expect at that price, but it's a f*cking GT-R, dude, you don't buy it for its interior. If I was looking to buy a GT-R or a similar type of car, the last thing that would concern me is the interior. Furthermore, I've been in a 2015 Black Edition, and the interior isn't even all that bad. You may call it cheap, but I call it functional.

tl;dr Nissan GT-R allegedly has low rent interior-> who gives a sh*t? Just my opinion though, feel free to tear me a new asshole.

I can not agree more.

And what is the point of a "high quality" interior when the engine is illegal and pointless (Audi, VW, Porsche etc. diesel engines).

I would rather have an "honest" car. And such car is the Nissan !

I either like basic interiors or really 100% luxurious interiors.

For instance I really like Subaru interiors because while they are very simple and made of hard-touch plastics, most 10-15 year old Subies still look brand new inside because of it.

I like luxurious interiors for obvious reasons, as long as they are hard wearing and don't decay over time.

I feel uncomfortable in cars with mixed interiors: if you have a really nice steering wheel and then reach over to the dashboard where the switches feel like plastic bottle tops, it feels like the whole car is a facade. I guess if the components were robust I could come to terms with it, but often the cheap items will actually be cheap quality, the worst is when they chose to cut cost and instead of cutting cost on appearance they cut the cost on durability/functionality.

This is one of my primary reasons I don't like Teslas. Their interior is sh*t. At least Tesla themselves admit it, since they've hired Volvo's director of interior design.

But for a car of that price tag, and what it's for, you'd expect a luxury interior.

My unpopular opinion might be the fact that I prefer cotton seats over leather seats. Particularly in a performance vehicle.

Indeed, I consider my Xantia a performance vehicle. After all, it has some of the best handling ever fitted to a production car, and I don't want to be skirting around in leather seats in tight corners! Leather is just an inconvenience. It's difficult to clean, it's sticky in the heat and else it's a water slide.

I also like my Xantia's interior for that reason. It's very simple, and everything feels the same and none out of place. Like epoxi said, you want a consistent interior.

Can't say I've ever had too much trouble with leather in performance cars. Then again I've always had proper bucket seats which makes a huge difference.

Yeah, but I also want seats that are comfortable for when I am not driving like a madman. And I may the crazy person here, but I don't find leather that particularly comfortable. Not that it's less comfortable, mind you.

Who needs comfort, when you have the pride that your car could well be the last one left, fitted with leather....

...like my Rover. One out of thirteen still registered in Germany.

I installed leather seats in my old Jeep. They looked great, but I actually found the cloth seats more comfortable. The leather was really hot in hot weather. And in cold weather, the seats were kind of firm and slippery (conditioning would help a little, but only for a couple days).

I love the cloth seats in my truck.

Considering I will be driving through California next summer in my Xantia, I believe cloth seats remain the best choice.

LoL. A Xantia in California.

How cool is that ! The DS and SM were the last Citroëns sold in the US, correct ? Or did they sell the CX there too ?

That is correct. But a Dutch company specialised in the late 1970s and early 1980s in modifying the CX for a US export. Citroën wanted nothing to do with those modofications and demanded they take the name 'Citroën' off the vehicles (but otherwise did not prohibit it). Owners later added the Citroën badges.

Since the CX is now over 25 years old, a lot of US residents are importing old European CXs. Generally speaking, Euro-spec DSes, SMs and CXs are preferred.

A Xantia with DK plates in California. If a cop pulls you over it's going to be fun.

I would love to the same with my Seat Ibiza

I want both fun and awesome fuel economy in a car. A lot of car enthusiasts wouldn't give a single f*ck about fuel economy, which is understandable.. but everybody seems skewed towards one particular side. I personally would love a fair balance in a daily driver. For a project / weekend car, it should be all about fun.

Guys, I want to ask your opinion, is this thing ugly?

Cuz many people said this thing ugly and the older version is had better styling. Here's the old one:

I suspect the two first pictures are not of the same car. I base this on the fact that their side mirrors are placed differently.

AFAIK some JDM cars can be specced with the bonnet mirrors in lieu of their normal ones. Something to do with their odd obsession with impersonating old European marques.

This is one of the most underrated cars ever. The Century by Toyota.

The first pictures are of the 2nd generation with the V-12 and the first generation is to be seen on the other pictures. It had a V-8.

The car is still being built and if you really like cars the movie "Lost in Translation" is worth watching for it alone.

And Bill Murray even promotes it somehow with his "It's Century time !"...

The car is only available as a rhd. But there are a couple (3-5) lhd cars built for the Toyota headquarters in Belgium.

An absolute classic in lhd !

Sorry for double post but somehow the multiquote does not work for me on my phone...

Those wing-mirrors on 70s japanese cars were fitted like that for a reason. By law they had to be at a particular distance from the driver and also the mirrorglass itself had to be at a certain height from the road too.

Apparently those cars with such mirrors had no blind spot.

Early Nissan Leopards even had wipers for the mirror glasses, as they were too far away to wipe and the mirrors did collect rain water when driving.
