Helegad
I've got ALchemy 1.45.03 and the modified "esound.dll" and "mss32.dll" from here, but the game still tells me that my computer doesn't support the hardware. What am I missing here?

Helegad
Well, no sh*t I'm missing the hardware, that was the point of ALchemy, which I understand is an EAX emulator but restricted by Creative to only work with selected cards. EDIT: Never mind, ALchemy merely translates DirectSound calls to OpenAL calls. Still need EAX hardware. Edited October 10, 2016 by Helegad
stef_92
I tried doing this on my PC too long time ago but just like in your case - it didn't work. It's sad because miles fast is really bad.
Helegad
I bit the bullet and went out searching for a new card. Picked up a brand new (but dusty and faded) Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer for $30. GTA III sounds beautiful, as do many other games; Manhunt sounds particularly good. I have minor issues with San Andreas, from radio/dialog skipping to constant pops and crackles as samples start. I've also managed to restore EAX in Driver just by copying over the files created by ALchemy. Warehouse reverb? Check My point is, EAX is absolutely worth the trouble. Anybody sitting on the fence, I recommend you get your ass off it! Edited October 20, 2016 by Helegad thehambone
