I wish the Mule Custom had a Primary and Secondary color option - Primary for the cab, secondary for the box/panel back.

But hey, at least I have a billion different garish "camo" liveries I can choose from to make it look about as conspicuous as possible though right?

literally the opposite effect of what camouflage paintjobs are supposed to do smh

Right now, I'd trade everything else in the current drip-feed (aside from the Stafford - although it's a sad day when there's so little interesting/quality content that I'm having to get hyped over a Bentley...) for just these two:

sdkibtvaaov19bgvgxap.jpg

1970-Dodge-Challenger-TA-1687-15.jpg

I'd even settle for little or no customisation, just like with the Ellie and Stafford - that's really how low my expectations are at this point!

Trouble is, there's no guarantee that:

1. R* wouldn't do something awful like a Challenger with a Ford Capri front end, or a cross between an RX-7 and a Saturn... :barf:

2. There's equal chance of them getting given to whatever cack-handed person just does crappy freehand sculpts - I was really looking forward to the Swinger, but ...ugh.

3. And who am I kidding? They're not weaponised bullsh*t, and R* North is clearly just five people spinning out the game until RDR2 launches, with feedback going straight into the shredder. Some days, trying to get any suggestions to R* feels like about as productive as trying to summon a million quid out of thin air, just by wishing really hard...

At this point, the most exciting GTA-ish DLC for me would be ...the various vehicle/outfit packs for Mafia II:

Realistic/authentic-looking pastiches of real-world cars, all of which are entirely appropriate for the game setting, and where the only 'gimmick' is being able to dress like Marlon Brando in The Wild One, or James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause - and I'd rather spend £12 of real money for all of that, than unlock some of this recent GTAO garbage for "free". :rol:

Here's a variety of cruisers, rally raiders, sports bikes and ATVs...all made redundant with the Oppressor.

Here's a fleet of passenger helicopters and fairly balanced attack choppers...all made redundant with the Akula.

Here's a unique collection of armoured cars and trucks th- you get the point.

^This. You hit the nail on the head. You get people with preferences but the vast majority use the best and practical item to get the job done. If the item solves multiple jobs then even more so it would be used. Doesn't matter if it the highest damage gun or flying bike. And as a result, it makes the others in its class redundant.

Which makes me not ever care for a non armoured vehicle since heists. It's all different shaped barrels for fish.

Shame. I really would enjoy these vehicles... back in 2013.

Thing is, that hits a particular 'game design' nail right on the head - I wonder why we don't get as many decent civilian-grade vehicles as we should, because ...that's all I give a sh** about. Since I spend my time exclusively in private sessions, and the only contact I have with anything weaponised is ...hanging up the phone as soon as Agent 14/Ron/Lester try to sell me that sh**, I'm quite happy pretending the game is still the grounded, GTA V-based setting it still was back in 2013-15.

...but that's not how R* thinks! Nope - it's all about the 'arms race', and providing the new must-have thing to dominate races/Freemode/etc. Yanno, right up until they release the next must-have thing, rendering your previous purchase obsolete - it's the Apple approach to design! :p

And it annoys me, because I just don't care - just gimme some nice cars, clothes, hairdos, and that'll last me a lot longer than any of your stupid toys. But that means I'm not part of the 'arms race', and so folks like me just don't matter, and thus don't factor into their design decisions/business model. :turn:

...lol - and I just realised that @GTAJJ said pretty much the same thing. :pp But hey, it's that obvious, I guess...!

Great game. Looking at those cars makes me think R* can do much better with cars. The Stafford is a good example of it.

Yeah - in fact, the quality of the Stafford (both in terms of how faithful the design is, and the sculpt quality) really put me in mind of Mafia II's approach to car design. :)

And even more staggering? Mafia II only had TWO vehicle artists - !! :wtf: Milan Saffek (lead) and Martin Kozak. Probably accounts for the consistency of style - but even so, if this were GTAO, there'd be two wildly different levels of accuracy/quality. But in Mafia II? I'm amazed they managed to get away with having near-identical replicas - right down to shamelessly on-the-nose names ("Potomac Chieftain" = Pontiac Indian, "Smith Thunderbolt" = Ford Thunderbird, "Shubert Frigate" = Chevrolet Corvette, etc.). :pp

So, to turn this into a proper B&M, I don't care that GTAO might only have a small skeleton team still working on the game - that didn't stop Mafia II putting out 50 or so top-quality homages to classic cars, did it?

I don’t understand why R* doesn’t make obvious parodies of car brands like “Potomac” in Mafia II or ”Jefferson” (Lincoln) from Interstate ‘76. It would be easier to associate, maybe they want to keep as far as possible from a “copy” and avoid problems. Well, I’ll be always happy if they bring high quality “civilian” cars despite of the marque.

Yeah - same with Mafia III, and how they were a lot more approximate with the newer car designs, and the names/brands were a lot more random ("Lassiter Leopard" = Chevrolet Camaro, while the Chevy Corvette is now ..the "Samson Duke", etc.). Maybe it's because a smaller Czech studio could get away with more on-the-nose stuff, I guess.

But the main thing is just the quality of the models, and the accuracy of the designs, definitely - R*, on the other hand, is so hit-and-miss, there, and I just hate having to play roulette whenever I hear a car I like is getting added. :/

How do we not already have an Aventador, yet have two different Huracans? Seems like something R* would have went for early on.

The lack of manual transmission irritates me from time to time. Sometimes I just want to cruise around the city in a normal speed but it's not that smooth to press W every second to control the speed. I remember in Mafia II, you could control the car's speed with a speed limiter. It could be a fine way to drive around the city with a stable RPM.

Mafia II also had a gas level which was a cool future. A bit annoying in a game like GTA if you're in a hurry and your car has no fuel but in free roam it adds realism to the game.

You'd think that R* while adding liveries to older DLC vehicles like the Coquette Classic and the Mamba would also take the time to update their lackuster interior to something more accurate while they were at it but nah, that would take actual effort.

Like, you see all these new cars like the GT500, Fagaloa and the new Swinger with bespoke, unique interiors and then you see this crap on older vehicles:

At least give the Peyote interior to the Coquette Blackfin!

Honestly, I'm just hoping for better in GTA:Next at this point. I expect a fair amount of these vehicles will return in some form, hopefully not the memes like the oppressors or bttf deluxo. (A stock deluxo, great. But not what we have now.) But I expect we'll see the Mamba and Coquette classic in whatever game comes next, hopefully with even more customization and better interiors

At this point, and considering how RDR2 looks like an entire leap in fidelity beyond what was impressive with GTA V, I ...kinda hope that GTA VI marks the next big visual overhaul of the series, like GTA IV and the "HD era" before it. And in doing so, R* abandons the HD era designs completely, and takes a much more detailed, faithful approach to vehicle design.

(not least because I just don't see a bunch of the GTA IV-designed vehicle assets holding up in a GTA with characters/environments like those seen so far in RDR2 - we're already seeing that with the likes of the Patriot Stretch, and how those nearly decade-old textures haven't aged well at all...)

Why since Gunrunning, almost all of the weaponized vehicles like thr Insurgent Pick-up Custom (Gunrunning), the Havok (Smugglers Run) the Barrage and Thruster (The Doomsday Heist), the Sea Sparrow (SSASSS) and now the new Menacer always recycle the same minigun model?

uw7fowm.png

What's wrong with the older one?

yG7K4J8.png

Why R* doesn't give us the option to choose between both? Something like this:

- Stock Machine Gun/.50 Cal Machine Gun

- 7.62mm Minigun

- .50 Cal Minigun

R* could even make them different, the 7.62mm Minigun could have a higher rate of fire but low damage per shot and the .50 Cal Minigun could have a lowet rate of fire but higher damage per shot. The stock Machine Gun could be in the middle stats wise and have the longest range of the three.

Also, why R* is pulling an Ardent/Nightshark with the Menacer again? People don't want forced pea shooters, R* got it right with the Savestra and Viseris.

One step ahead, two steps back.

Wtf are they even doing at Rockstar Studios these days? Those god awful liveries?

"You know what? f*ck adding new cars that either fit the update or people want, let's add half assed mods and poorly done inaccurate liveries to existing cars instead! And the few new cars we are actually adding? Make them look great but make them sound awful and have those handling flags that everyone seems to love! OH don't forget the military stuff! That's totally what people want!"

On the one hand, Invetero Coquette vs. Declasse Coquette... Bit like how if I had my way, for a Mafia sequel, I'd scrap the name Samson Duke from III, and go back to Shubert Frigate from II (and the same with all the other brands/names - Smith Moray would be back to Smith Thunderbolt, and the Berkley Stallion would become the Smith Stallion, etc.).

...on the other, it's clearly the Invetero Coquette, so it's wrong. And I don't see them changing it to Declasse anywhere else, so... :turn:

Same - particularly considering this happened before, with the "Hay[n]es Auto Body Shop" decals on the Hermes, Hustler, etc.

It's a bit worrying, some of the recurring issues with various aspects of the game in recent updates - because the odd one-off would be understandable human error, but the same issues again and again...

With this, and the inconsistency of vehicle designs/sculpts, and then the absolute state of clothing textures (jee-zus, the compression issues...), it really makes hoping for specific things from R* a real gamble. :/ Like, is it worth asking for them to add certain cars, if there's always the risk that they'll hand them to the less-capable folks on the team?

Honestly that bothers me more than "Declasse" being on the rear fender. I can excuse Declasse being on there as the parent company/sponsor of Invetero's racing team or Jock Cranley or something (I'm grasping at straws here), but the flag being cut off like that just screams "rushed" or "I don't know how to make this stock American flag pattern stretch to the front of the car oh god help" to me.

The only way it'd make any kind of sense is because it's a pastiche of a similarly-configured real-life racing livery - because whoever did things like the F&F Penumbra decals clearly knows their stuff, and did a good job of replicating the movie look with GTA brand names/logos. Same with most decal options, in fact - so many of the homages to other real-life things have been really, really good, recently (the various Ferrari ones for the GT500, for instance).

Considering this one starts and then cuts off at the exact same place, it's probably intentional and probably a homage??? Doesn't stop it from looking very bad, though.

I hate how my character always gets out of the passenger side of a helicopter if I land on so much as a 1 degree angle. There's absolutely no reason for that, 99.99% of the time the driver door isn't blocked or anything, it's like the character has worms and has to slide over to the other seat to scratch his ass on the way out every time.

See, I guess the thinking there was that you can then paint the car itself red or something, and do the car version of this:

main-qimg-44857f447a5cf827dccd8c1b03a950

(similar to that one Hermes decal set, in fact)

...oh, good grief - please don't tell me they made a standardised template for all the Coquette Classic decals, and cut them off at the same point, just in order to let you change the colour of the 'nose' for the fighter plane one... :dontgetit:
