Put functioning searchlights on the helicopters that you can turn on and off. San Andreas had it 14 years ago. I am tired of getting bamboozled by power pylons at night.

Pre-emptive b&m for the Ruiner Custom: you can bet that when they give it working pop-up lights, they'll still only use the sh*tty half sized textures meant for semi-concealed lights, and not a full lens, making it look as dumb as the Turismo Classic.

They can't even make functioning fog lights. What makes you think they will make functioning searchlights on choppers?

Well the Buzzard has a headlight but it points directly out and only has a range of like 3 feet and is useless. The Maverick and Annhiliator both have them but they are just decoration. It's something that takes them little effort to do and can be rolled out with future bugfixes. And yes they could do the foglight modeling in the same breath.

Having the hood open on the Cheetah Classic doesn't register in Rockstar Editor, it just shows the hood down all the time, even if you had it up in the gameplay you recorded. This is the only car I've found so far that's like this, no showing off that beautiful V12 I guess 😞.

It is as we feared then, Rockstar  is using us as test rabbits for future games, and they have no intention of removing these cancerous flags.

They figured that most people dont care about performance, only how "cool" the new cars looks, so why bother "fixing" it when only a minority cares about racing.

 

I wont be buying any of the new cars then, thanks for nothing,  Rockstar

I drove my Deluxo yesterday and it sure feels like the handling flag B.S. has been applied to it. :(

 

My Akula homing missiles still work, at least. Many players are having that problem, judging from what I've read here on the forum.

I've often said that there's at least one vehicle artist who turns out stuff like they just discovered Google SketchUp for the first time, because the surfaces are so flat, featureless and 'cheap'-looking.

 

This, though? Probably was done in Google SketchUp - if your average GTAO vehicle has a poly count closer to 100,000, then this has something  more like ...100:

It's just flat slabs, flat windows (no frame depth), hard angles - and the few decent details (the cupola/turret, and the rims) are just taken from the much-better-looking Insurgent.

 

Fortunately, there was no way in hell I was going to buy a goofy-looking shootybang thing like this in the first place - but it's so frustrating that R* thought that this was the sort of thing to add to a nightlife update, and the actual asset quality is just ...meh.

Yup - it's still on the list of Sports Classics on the Social Club vehicles page, too.  :beerhat:

 

Seems they did similar to the Stirling GT (in Sports Classics, but usable in Sports races), but fudged it - same happened with the various E&OC Schafter variants, too (some in Sports, some in Sedans... :facedesk:).

Dont know why they even moved the Jester Classic from sports classic to sports, given its lackluster performance.

Sure, it might be more of an actual sports class, but i mean, we have 90s super cars in that class already, so "sports classic" has lost some of its meaning anyways.

I can mostly live with it, same as how I can mostly live with the GTA IV cars, better than I can some of the worse things from the early days of GTA V (and anything clearly made back then, but only 'finished' and released more recently, because R*'s apparently dipping into old WIP content to pad out updates).

 

But honestly, considering how many absolutely terrible vehicles are in the game (both in terms of eyesores asset-wise, and just 'why is this sh** in GTA??'), I'm getting to the point where I just hope R* treats GTA VI like a new 'era', and ...abandons all these assets. Hopefully RDR2 is a sign that they'll indeed do that, considering how far removed that looks from the HD-era R* games.

 

(although considering the direction of GTAO, and how R*'s writing hasn't exactly gotten better over the years, I don't know if I'm even hopeful about the state of GTA VI and 'GTAO 2.0' at this point... :/)

What an update, huh? After months of SSSASSASASSASA we've finally gotten the long waited night life update. An update people have been asking for since the start. Dancing, drinks, DJs, galore. And The vehicles? Oh those suck. No, seriously, what the hell is with the vehicles in this damned update? 

 

Let's quickly compare After Hours to the last, non-racing/car focused update. That would be the Doomsday Heist, an update entirely based around IAA secrets, nuclear weaponry, and fighting a possibly cyborg military in large scale combat. 29 different vehicles came with that update. (Wiki says 30 because they're counting the folded wings version of the Avenger, in case you're fact checking me.) 19 of those were regular civilian cars, of which 4 could be optionally weaponized. 10 of them were weaponized from the get go. Just over half. Every one of the vehicles that came during the drip feed were civilian. Many of the cars were highly requested, like the Hermes, Hustler and Sentinel Classic. Even the main Meme Machine of the update was the Highly Requested Deluxo, returning to the series from Vice City. While I personally don't like the treatment the Deluxo received, many have been able to look past it's faults and still enjoy it as a regular car. So we have a heavily military themed update, arguably the most military themed we've ever received, and yet it's vehicle list was over all civilian and tasteful. 

 

Now let's get back to After Hours. An update pack centered around luxury, dancing, being wealthy enough to turn your businesses over to others and reap the rewards while you dance the night away. What's it's car list look like? What's the list for the big Summer update? Well, 15 vehicles over all including the Blimp and Jester Classic. I almost don't want to include them cause one is just an updated version of the original one from 2013, and the other was technically added in the previous update. But I'll be generous and call it 15. Now that's not too terrible, honestly. It's the same amount of cars the previous update (SASSY) came with. But here's the issue, only 5 of them are civilian. 2 more are unarmed, but they're both Pegasus vehicles (The party bus and the blimp) so I'm not counting them. Now before I hear the whines of "But Rockett, the Mule, Speedo and Pounder custom are all optionally armed!" You're not wrong, however they are all delivery vehicles first and foremost, and are sold on the military site in game. Because of this I'm not counting them as civilian. So, including those three, that's 8 weaponized vehicles. Of those weaponized vehicles we have the jumping, rocket boosted anime inspired Scramjet and the saints row knock off abomination that is the jet powered, hovering Oppressor MKII. The others include an A10 Warthog expy (B-11), a hackers paradise mobile missile and drone platform (Terrorbyte), and an ugly as sin armored truck with a mounted machine gun (Menacer). Over half of the vehicles are militarized, with two of them being Meme Machines. Doesn't matter if you like them, hell I kinda like the Mach 5 expy, they're still Meme Machines. Of the civilian cars, how many were highly requested? The Jester Classic we've spent the last several months complaining about? The one that's still not really good? Maybe the XJ13 inspired swinger, though most of us were hoping for an E-Type.

 

So what am I getting at? Well, the most militarized update for the game came with almost quadruple the amount of civilian cars than the Nightlife themed one. That's honestly just disgusting to me. This update should have been an Ill Gotten Gains style update, flashy clothes and flashier cars. Instead we got an extremely small amount of clothing and a disgustingly small amount of non military or meme cars.

At least the nightclub's fun.

In R*'s defense, it being a sports classic was one of the major complaints about it. People wanted to race it against the other street racer cars, like the Elegy Retro. People also wanted better performance and for it to be a Karin, but that's C* for ya.

I think I'm in with the general consensus regarding this update. I like to think most of the people in this section are car enthusiasts to some degree. I am sorely disappointed with the lack of vehicles in this update, relative to the theme. It almost feels as if the cars from SSASSS should have gone with the "After Hours" update. I don't know if I'm being a spoiled brat by feeling as though we are entitled to more "street" cars than we got. 

 

I bought my first car with handling flags and after a bit of driving I thought, "wtf are these gooey handling dynamics?". The handling flags need to go. They should never have been implemented in the first place. They really hinder the true performance of these cars.

 

I hate to be another "Benz" groupie, but it honestly feels that R* lost sense of direction after Leslie's departure, or booting, I should say. GTA Online to me is now a slew of updates with the same general concept wearing a different facade, with a few interesting bits here and there. Leslie Benzies proved to be a competent leader, manager and visionary. After all, GTA:O is what it is because of him. R* wanted to rehash Online from GTA IV. Now, this game has a poor sense of direction.

 

I appreciate GTA: Online for its beauty, diverse content, game modes, and overall freedom to make it what you want, but f*ck R* management for making this game unbalanced, and the crazy in-game inflation. I'm a stubborn idiot, so if then GTA:6/GTA:O part 2 comes out, i'll probably buy it.

 

I just don't know, man. Here's hoping to a new direction, or for one of Leslie's games to be a better GTA competitor.
