Please post more than just the title. At least explain why you like the game. It's an absolutely pointless exercise in posting just the title. It says nothing other than you like a game others don't. May as well write that down on a piece of paper and throw it in sea.

Assassin's Creed 1 - most people call it bad, but is my personal favorite because I love the setting and atmosphere the most.

Max Payne 3 - Most fans of the first two max payne games deemed it the worst game in the trilogy due to the lack of the atmosphere and style of MP1/2, and the long cutscenes that could not be skipped. Conversely, I actually liked rockstar's take on max payne and saw it as a very fitting conclusion. Loved the combat and challenge it offered. It's my second favorite of the trilogy behind the original.

Grand theft auto advance - the forgotten child of the gta series. I loved the story and seeing the gta 3 characters like asuka kasen, 8-ball, and king courtney. The missions were an incredible amount of fun. I really enjoyed "scorelli", "happy hour", "grand opening", "pocket rocket", "latin coffee", "factory wages", "two-hand toss", "sue me sushi", "truth revealed" (shocking plot twist), "smackdown", and "assault joint".

I liked Assassin's Creed 1's dark and gritty atmosphere. I guess you could say it was the GTA III of its series. Combat is way more challenging than the later games too.

As for Max Payne 3 maybe it's not because I'm a hardcore fan of the series and perhaps it isn't a "good" Max Payne game in the eyes of the hardcore fans, but as a shooter I think it's great. So smooth, fluid and brutal. It's good to have seen a different location utilised too because I can't think too many games with a Brazilian setting.

The thing with Max Payne 3 is that R* heavily advertised the game along side GTA 5. A bait and switch you can almost say. It mad a lot of people angry with them at the time.

I really enjoyed the game for what it was, but it obviously didn't do good if they had to shut a studio down for it.

I don't really see how that was the game's fault though, but yes I remember the hysteria at the time.

This is an interesting point and while I loved the first two games I still tried to enjoy MP3 and I did for a good while. But I think I kind of forced my love for it. It had some very strong things going for it. I was a defender of the location setting before and during release but in hindsight, I may have preferred another New York-centric game, with perhaps a mission set elsewhere. Having said that it was refreshing to play somewhere new, somewhere different.

Which also leads me to my other point, based on yours. As I mentioned in the Xbox One topic, I've been playing Mass Effect: Andromeda. And if I'm to parrot you and say maybe it's because I wasn't a hardcore fan of the series and Andromeda isn't a good ME game compared to the trilogy games but I'm loving it so far. I did play ME:2 and really enjoyed the the whole mise en scene, the music and the general theme but I didn't like the rigid duck and cover system that had been so done to death in games around that time. Also the no-jump. I know these things can be overlooked in favour of story etc but I found engaging in fights a bit of a chore. I didn't finish it. I think I'll go back to the series and complete the trilogy.

Mafia 3 - this game got a lot of flack because of the bugs. I bought the game late November when hangar 13 started making patches to get rid of the bugs so I didn't experience too manynof them during gameplay. Also the game got a lot of hate for being too repetitive and not following the story based chapter gameplay approach of previous installments andinstead usng an over world approach to sytematically takimg down rackets Mafia 3 did have story chapter missions as well as boss fights with elaborate set pieces. Ever since the races were added amd3story dlc that added more story missions and side missions the game was even bigger and netter than the original. Another complaint was that this game didntmcontinue Vito's story from mafia 2. The way i look at games in the mafia series aren't direct sequels but rather spinoffs.Vito kills the main protag from mafia 1. In mafia 2 vto is a supporting character.

Star wars battlefront 1and 2- first off I'm a star wars fan and it would take a real valid reason for me to hate these games other than not being similar to the pandemic studios battlefront II which I also enjoyed thoroughly. The main complaint from the first battle front was that there is no story campaign. That didn't bother me though because I've reply enjoyed myself with the online matches.battlefront is one of the best online games I've played. I didn't mind that there where load outs and pick ups instead of a class system. The game has great weapons and powerups and I mfound the star card system to be useful as well. Many fun game modes and maps , heroesetc. Judging by the battlefront 2 beta I played greatness awaits in that installment as well, loot boxes be damned!

As you may know I never really liked Mafia III at launch. Felt so rushed and unfinished. Then I realised I didnt actually hate the game itself, but more the fact it just didnt feel like it was ready. I traded the game away, but rebought it again on XB1 and came to appreciate its style.

In a lot of ways I still prefer Mafia II as it feels more traditional, but on its own merits taking off the rose tinted glasses Mafia IIIs a really good game in its own right.:)

Star Wars Battlefront II ;). I completely missed out on the whole microtransaction controversy leading up to it's release, and by the time I bought and played it, EA had already deactivated microtransactions. I didn't play the last one so I have nothing to compare this one to and is probably the reason why I have no issue with the progression system, I only had the game for a couple days and I've unlocked quite a few characters and weapons - also leveled up the class I like playing as at a pretty steady pace. The card system is different, but I really had no expectations, and the singleplayer is interesting, also I hear it's getting a free DLC mission soon, so that's a plus. It's really weird when you completely miss out on an internet rage frenzy and actually examine the thing everyone's mad at after it's been "fixed" and wonder why some people are still foaming at the mouth over it - I mean, I know you still don't like the card system, but it's really not that bad. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

^^They will be turned back on soon. They're most likely waiting until the situation calms down.

Also funny how CoD disabled microtransactions for one week so that reviewers can't review those lol.

^Probably, but it still nullifies a lot of what made people angry in the beginning. I understand reddit did the math during the beta and estimated that it would take 40 hours of grinding to unlock Vader - I don't even think I've put in 10 hours of multiplayer yet and he was the first thing I bought with in-game currency.

Something else must have changed aside the microtransactions.

Saints Row: The Third - Played co-op with a friend for a while, and it was pretty fun. I just love how cars slowly crumple when you run them over with a tank instead of blowing up like in most games. The character customization and some of the soundtrack is also really great.

Minecraft - It is a good and relaxing game to play, and it can be very hard sometimes, specially if you're like me and don't know what you're doing most of the time. The thing that absolutelly ruins it is its community, finding a good one is a needle on a haystack situation. It is also extremelly moddable, so you won't run out of things to do so early.

Driver: San Fancisco - Sure, some things in that game are very lazily done, but I enjoyed the car-swapping mechanic and the story. I also loved the vehicle selection.

Crash Time II & III - Opinions on Crash Time is... pretty mixed, the bad voice-acting, the repetitive missions, etc. But I enjoyed playing through both games of the series I played. The driving physics are amazing, the crashes are pretty brutal and the car selection is great, I can't really think of another game that lets me drive an F1 car, a Stock Car, an armoured APC, an 18-wheeler and a customized tuk-tuk on the streets, other than maybe Just Cause.

They actually reduced the amount of credits required to buy certain heroes by 75% after people complained about it. But they also reduced the amount that you get from beating the campaign so people were unhappy.

This game has been the answer for me, to many questions before, including things like "Game you wish they'd make a sequel to" and "Hottest female character", but I F*CKING LOVED WET!!!!

Damn that game ticked all my boxes.

Yes it was very samey, but samey is fine if you love the thing they keep doing!

Star Wars: Battlefront. I never played the second, but I liked the first. It was simple, fluid and fun.

COD: Ghosts. I don't actually like this game at all in comparison to COD4, MW2 and WaW, but it's more pleasant to play than the new COD games, Black Ops 3 included.

L.A. Noire. It's my favourite R* game for it's well written story and innovative design, but many people disliked it because it didn't feature a storyline where you kill someone every two seconds. SORRY CASUAL GAMERS.

Assassin's Creed III. Worse than AC I, II, Brohood and Revelations but better than nearly everything after in my opinion.

Max Payne 3. Dunno why people hate it. This game is genius. 4th best R* game below GTA IV, RDR and L.A. Noire.

Fallout 3. Hated by old farts who were mad it wasn't created by Chris "give me kickstarter moneyz" Avellone. LEGENDARY STATUS GAME.

Fallout 4. I like it for mindless exploration and fun but I much preferred 3 and New Vegas.

Dishonored Series. One of my favourite franchises but it seems to be hugely underrated and people call it a Thief clone. SORRY IT IS A STEALTH GAME WITH SIMILAR MECHANICS.

Bayonetta. Fun mindless action.

Halo: Reach. Not as good as 2 or 3 but better than ODST and 4.

SR1. Best written story in Saints Row franchise.

SR2. Most fun in the Saints Row franchise.

LA Noire is a misunderstood gem IMO. People thought it was going to be a 1940s GTA like game because it had R*'s logo on the cover. The game's so fresh and unique it saddens me we're likely never going to get a sequel to it. I love the mixture of shootouts, analysing crime scenes and questioning witnesses/suspects.

It's far from being perfect as you never really feel any consequences for screwing up (as in locking up the wrong guy, missing a crucial piece of evidence etc) other than losing a few stars on the end report. In saying that it's an interesting concept that stands out from the typical military shooter, RPG etc. I re-bought it again on PS4 when it was remastered. Still as great as it was in 2011.

I played the remastered version while waiting RDR2 and I have to say that I enjoyed it even more than when it originally came out. I was going for all the achievement so getting all the right answers and collectibles was a bit of a chore, but other than that it was a real pleasure to play it. Though open world seemed somewhat empty and there isn't anything to do when you're done with collecting I still rate this game very high. The size of the city and small details you discovers while exploring are part of the reason what makes this game so great. It is indeed very sad that there probably won't be a sequel.

Driv3r, Far Cry 2 😛

People didn't like far cry 2? That's the best FC in my opinion. The atmosphere, attention to detail, and challenge was on point. It's as if they dumbed down the mechanics in everything after it to appeal to wider audiences. Still sitting on my shelf after years. Maybe I'll finally play it again someday or wait for a remaster if they ever actually release one, which is unlikely, but you never know.

It's the only game I've completed to 100% (Along with GTA IV). To me it's more of an open world game as opposed to being a "sandbox". It's open to explore, but the city serves as a backdrop to the story and the characters which are the real stars IMO.

-Call Of Duty 2.

I can admit it's the best in the series. Takes place in WWII so what? Most of these are interested in futuristic and now modern times first-person shooters. Same goes for Big Red One, which was great. Finest Hour, United Offensive, they're all great. I don't know if I am right, but people hate Black Ops II. I didn't like the futuristic setting like in 2025. The 80s were the thing, you shoot these Soviets, get an Uzi with Reflex and Rapid fire. That's what I am talking about. Many didn't like FC2 because in it takes place in Africa and jamming features. What? Realism. I love the jamming features, it won't stop until you press R. Breaking features, I love just that Makarov breaking animations.

Hitman Absolution.

I know many people didn't like this Hitman and said it drifted away from older hitman games but I loved it.47 had a sort of "badassery" I couldn't find in other Hitman games.

Sonic The Hedgehog (2006 version) - I only gave it a chance cause I liked the Sonic series as a kid, but oh my gawd. This one ruins my childhood. I could not take the cutscenes seriously and everything felt half-assed. The cutscenes were just corny as f*ck, the story was just unsettling, and the movements in the cutscenes were just awful. The gameplay gets a pass though. I didn’t complete much of the story (I don’t plan to continue it), but the multiplayer of the game was okay. I’d still play that.

Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero - I’ve seen gameplay of it, and I can see how terrible everyone says this game is. The cutscenes were just the absolute worst. Not to mention the special effects. There’s a button you have to press in order to turn the direction you’re facing. Also, the cutscene deaths and the cheap deaths are hilarious. Despite the terrible talk & reviews about this game, I like it and I’ll still get it.

Infinite Warfare. People called it the Worst COD ever, but the Campaign is surprisingly fun and in depth. Would recommend it. There's a lot of difficulty options & things to do compared to most COD campaigns.

Suuper old post I know but given this was bumped... Rockstar Vancouver was merged with R* Toronto, not closed/people laid-off, and the studio who made MP3 wasn't even the studio that was merged, because that was R* Toronto (the one that still exists) who did it. In fact, the Max Payne 3 production team is in RDR2.

I actually didn't mind it either. Probably because I don't buy every COD game, but it was surprising how much I enjoyed it despite not being a sci fi freak.
