l Marksman God l
I'm from Brazil and I do like cars, but we are si far away from you guys in therms of cars, but I do have a VW/Golf 2008 we call it MK4,5 because the MK5 and MK6 was not presented in my country, the the national VW remastered the old MK4, I was 18 when I got my license and I'm 25 now Here is a pic of the car from my instagram: Ayy Brazil!! Couldn't be more right, Brazil is years away from big countries in terms of cars, mostly on price aspects. I love the MK4,5 and I almost bought one last year, but instead I got a Lancer(not the evo) and I just bought an old Beetle for really cheap but need some fixes. Here is a picture of my Lancer: mx5 and We Are Ninja
Rewdalf
Got my license when I was 16, but I'd been racing in SCCA events before that. In college I built racing engines. I currently drive a 2014 Subaru BRZ, which shares a similar body style with the ETR1. Before that was a 2010 Nissan GT-R, which the Elegy is based on Why'd you give up the GT-R? I got in way over my head. I bought it after getting a $12k raise, but I signed a 36 month lease. The payments + insurance killed me and I had to sell it 5 months later. Makes sense. A lot of people get into a GTR and have no idea just how much it really is gonna cost to keep. I was in the market for one as well, until I heard that just replacing brake pads costs 10k. No thank you.I've heard Porsches are supposed to be reliable but how much do those cost to maintain? Probably just as much huh? Have yet to spend over a few hundred on a single repair for mine. Mostly because it's technically a 1988 VW body with a Porsche engine... And I've been doing all the repairs myself... Gnocchi Flip Flops
Gridl0k
There's a reason Porsche specialists do so well - dealer servicing will bankrupt you. I knew the GTRs were not Nissans when it came to running costs but $10K for brakes? They're not even ceramic? Big though, I guess. We Are Ninja
My current car: 2006 Mazdaspeed6 GT. Turbocharged. AWD. 3600 lbs. The wheels are loud, but otherwise it's tastefully modded. My affinity for cars started with my grandmother buying me Hot Wheels every time we went to the store. I've loved them ever since. I passed my driver's test the moment I was of legal age, 15 or 16, though I had been driving before that, LOL. I'm partial to sport/sporty sedans IRL. In GTA, there's not a whole bunch of that, so I look at a lot of other factors, but the biggest things are balance and how engaging the car is to drive. Hence the reason I have two Windsor GT's and not a single Kuruma, LOL. GTA-Biker
Before we get into this, It's been done before, a while ago and i'm not going to necro an old ass thread. If the thread is still not good enough, I'll let a mod delete if it's worth deleting. I see a lot of people saying they are "car guys" Do you drive? if so, what car do you currently drive? If not, do you plan on driving or just have a love for cars and no interest in driving? *if* you do drive, and do own a car does this influence your car choice? Do you only pick cars you have and drive or do you pick cars you only wish you could drive? (in gta) and finally, how old were you when you passed your test? I drive a small Fiesta, 2005 model. I've been driving for 3 years now (Passed my test when I was 23) and when I play GTA I own the cars I would love to drive in the real world! fun fact, my name is based on a car I would love to own. oh and try not to bullsh*t lol I would love to see some honest replies. I don't really know am I a car guy since I'm not much of a mechanic and I currently don't have a car (unfortunately,I can't afford it,hopefully I'll save some money to buy one next year),but I do like cars. But to answer the questions anyway: -I can drive and I have a license, but I rarely drive cars. -As I said above,I don't have a car at the moment.I sometimes borrow my mom's car (1999 Renault Clio),but most of the time I ride my motorcycle (1994 Aprilia Classic). -As I also said above,I do plan on buying a car, hopefully soon. -The vehicles I like and would like to have does influence what I drive in GTA a lot.For example,I love classic cars (especially classic muscle cars and classic sports cars) so I have a lot of them in my garages in GTA,and I love cruiser/chopper bikes (and my real life bike is a cruiser),so I also ride them a lot in GTA games. However,if I get some rust bucket in real life because that's the only car I can afford,I doubt I'd also want to drive it in GTA. -I got my license when I was 21 years old (I wanted to get it at 18,but I didn't have money for driving school at the time). IceDree
I love cars, I really do, I always have & always will. I'm not sure I can classify as a full blown "Car Guy" as I'm a bit Mechanically challenged lol I used to have a 2010 Kia Forte, but I sold it to pay for a medical emergency in the family & didn't get an another car yet. I prefer Luxury cars, GTs & SUVs over Dedicated Sports & Super Cars in real life & that's what I drive in GTA. My favorite cars in GTA are the Oracle XS (the BMW E65 7xxli is my dream car), Cognoscenti, Baller LE, Bestia, Schafter V12 LWB, Dubsta, Cavalcade & Super Diamond. Take care of this icon I will bro, it was kinda hard to find an OK Beetle that wasn't a little bit overpriced; that car was way cheaper than the other ones I was searching and had some cheap fixes to do, so it was definitely a catch. For about $2500 - $3000 you can get an older S13 Redtop SR20DET front clip. I think most shops charge about 5k to find you everything and install it. First order of upgrades Bigger Intercooler, aftermarket exhaust manifold, 3in Down Pipe, 3in Test Pipe 3in full exhaust, a boost controller set to 14psi, a Walbro 255 fuel pump and a Turbo Timer. This will max out the stock little t25 but you'll put down about 250 rwhp and run mid 13's. You'll want to upgrade the gaskets between your exhaust manifold and head. I like the Apex 1.2mm Head Gasket (The stock ones will blow easily once you apply more boost than stock) After you've done that and you want more. Upgrade the turbo to say a Garrett T2871 .81 (Full boost comes on at 3100rpm) and upgrade the MAF to a 300zx one (500rwhp limits vs 280rwhp with the stock SR MAF) Upgrade the fuel injectors to some 500 or 600cc then get a ROM Tune. Boost set to 19psi. You'll of course want a much bigger radiator with Dual Flex-A-Lite Fans or similar. APR Head studs would be recommends as well as a Stage 1 P & P of the Head. You'll have a 400+RWHP car that will be extremely reliable. The SR Motor will take 500+ RWHP before better pistons and rods are recommended. That was my setup in my 2700lb 92 240 coupe before I went balls to the wall and went with the boosted ls2 swap. degas93
I am a car guy in games, and I also am racing in go-karts, thats where my petrolhead tension gets off. Otherwise, I am planning to buy some reliable, cheap old hatchback like toyota yaris or seat leon, because I don't care about cars in real life. If I lived in a country with decent public transport like Germany or UK, I would never even buy a car at all.

I educate myself on cars before talking about them, and even though I'm old enough to drive I don't have my license yet, so I'm not quite the "car guy" you are, according to your logic. Smooth Longsack
I drive a very utilitarian four cylinder Toyota camry. The only flare this thing is a moonroof. I love it. I own the karin asterope in game, of course. I've tried my darnedest to approximate the odd brown paint job. I didn't upgrade it at all lol. Just like irl. No bullet proof tires or anything. Irl I'm 37, have a background in electronics, a physics degree, a sh*t load of tools and a waning interest in firearms. I've got some cool toys, like a silencer and a short barreled ar15, all above board with the proper paperwork and applicable taxes paid to the atf. I can approximate my irl load out and living conditions in the gta world, longsack and all. Gridl0k
