"car guys"

Recommended Posts

Before we get into this, It's been done before, a while ago and i'm not going to necro an old ass thread. If the thread is still not good enough, I'll let a mod delete if it's worth deleting.

I see a lot of people saying they are "car guys" Do you drive? if so, what car do you currently drive? If not, do you plan on driving or just have a love for cars and no interest in driving?

*if* you do drive, and do own a car does this influence your car choice? Do you only pick cars you have and drive or do you pick cars you only wish you could drive? (in gta)

and finally, how old were you when you passed your test?

I drive a small Fiesta, 2005 model. I've been driving for 3 years now (Passed my test when I was 23) and when I play GTA I own the cars I would love to drive in the real world!

fun fact, my name is based on a car I would love to own.

oh and try not to bullsh*t lol I would love to see some honest replies.

I love muscle cars but dont have much room for them ingame and mostly stick to my akuma these days even though I have never really driven a motorcycle irl.

Passed my test when I was 16-17.

Irl I have a 1993 ford mustang gt, a 2001 ford f-150 and a 2005 pontiac g6.

I past my test in the UK in 1991. 1st car was a Ford capri. I had a spate over the years of buying newish big cars. But for the last few years reverted back to old uns. Now I go everywhere in my beloved 16 yr mitsubishi galant. Obviously loved the kuruma as it's the closest thing to it in game. Like a fully tricked out 5 series (forget the in game name for it) sums and executive cruisers are my goal thing. Begrudgingly own a few supers to be able to get away quick

I like to cruise down the street in my '64 Impala.

Nah jk, I don't even have a car yet lmao. However I do want a Mazda RX-8. They look nice. Was 19 when I passed my test. Failed it once😂.

Yes, I'm a car guy but I currently don't own any "project cars" right now. I'm 33 years old and have 2 young children, so that hobby is put on the back burner right now.

When I was 17 I got my license and had a '95 Ford Escort Wagon. I immediately went to work on it and cleaned the interior, replaced the entire audio system with at the time a very powerful but very "thrifty" setup that included a Sony Pioneer Head Unit (50x4), Sony 4" Front Speakers, 1 inch tweeters that I custom molded into the doors near the hinge, Sony 6"x9" inch rear speakers (had to make a custom fit for them, as the speaker space was too small to accomadate). 2 x 600W 12" Super Blue Subwoofers in a bandpass box (this is the style right here, but those are JL brand)

9c0608cd86547fad87d6b50c24479b6a.jpeg

and those were pushed by 1 dual-channel 1000W amp, I can't remember the brand name. I ran a capacitor in between the amp and the battery to help maintain balance on the electrical system. I replaced the alternator too to provide more efficient power.

Yes, that was my audio car.

After that car is when I got into tuning cars. I have owned a '93 Mustang, pretty much put a wrench to that every weekend. A '99 Mercedes C-230 Kompressor (loved that supercharger).

I'm a HUGE fan of Ford, Mercedes, and McLaren.

Lastly, if I get a chance, I would love to try to see if there are any tuning possibilities on the new Tesla Model S. I know they are updated by the manufacturer, but if I could get my hands on it's computer system I would love to tweak some if it's controls. I think my next car will be a Tesla. I've been waiting for many years to see a performance EV, and hopefully in the next few years I will get my hands on one.

My dream car, which got me into F1 racing, is the McLaren F1.

I'm not a car 'guy'.

In GTA I drive whatever car I feel like from any of my garages.

By 'passes your test' I'm going to assume you mean the test to get a drivers license. I was 15 when I got my license. I drive a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. When my other car works I also drive a 1993 Chevrolet Corvette. However I keep breaking stuff on that, and I have to fix it more then I drive it.

I'm just a car guy in-game. In real life I drive a 2010 Ford Fiesta Diesel. I didn't pass my test until I was 21, because I didn't need a driver's license before that.

Passed my test in 1998, the day I turned 18. I have 2 BMW's, an e90 and a f30. Obviously I have all ubermacht vehicles ingame...

Apart from the ubermacht cars (wich I do like) I choose my cars in GTA based on looks.

I've been interested in cars since I was little. Been driving for just over 3 years and have already written off one  RIP Toyota Yaris. Got myself a 2011 Fiesta and I've been looking into financing a Lexus NX.

In game I stick to suv's, motorcycles and my Progen T20.

I wouldn't say I'm a car guy but I might be slowly turning into one. After regarding cars as mostly tools to get from place to place, I started getting interested in muscle cars over the last several years, and honestly I think GTA had a lot to do with that. I currently drive a 2016 Mustang, first fun car I've owned. In the game I have a lot of muscle and classic cars and I cycle through them all. Of course I own a Dominator (actually two of them, since they came out with the Pisswasser one) in an homage to my real ride. But my car collection in game is very aspirational. I'd love to own the real-life equivalents of many of my GTA cars.

I got my driving permit at age 15 (33 now)

I've owned many cars and trucks over the years. Standouts include a dodge Dakota r/t , Volvo v70 and 240. Currently, I drive a Subaru Legacy. I have a nice big garage with lots of tools (including a welder) and do most of my own repairs.

I don't consider myself a "car guy" because doing so would be a disservice to true car guys. However, I know many true car guys (those who make their living in the automotive industry or have built their own cars)

I'm just a guy who likes cars. Is how I like to put it. I'm 18 and getting my license soon. I've always loved cars. How they look, to a certain extent how they work and what makes each unique. I love watching cars just move. Not sure what got me into them, I remember riding in my dad's old Nissan 240 when I was like 3 years old. I got more into them in high school. Photography, car shows, everything I did on the internet was cars outside of GTA (though really that was all about cars to me too).

I'm honestly not fond of the term car enthusiast/car guy/non-car people. I'm just a guy who likes cars. When I think of car enthusiast, I think of status system because there are a lot of "enthusiasts" who think you can't be a real car guy if you don't do/own/know so and so. I just like cars. It's as simple as that.

The cars I drive in GTA, it varies. I'm picky. Right now I own these cars:

- Lynx

- Schafter V12

- Felon GT

- Bestia GTS

- Carbonizzare

- Contender

- T20

- Glendale

The Glendale is at my stilt house and that's the garage where I plan on building a classic collection (Stirling GT, Mamba). Classic cars interest me too, mainly aesthetically. It's hard to find videos or find them irl especially being driven properly instead of protected/garaged all of the time.

Do the cars I own in GTA reflect what I would like to own? Well it's difficult. There are a lot of cars I like. P1 for example. But I don't think I'd want to own one. Drive one? Yeah. But the Lynx and Schafter V12 reflect the cars I'd like to own. F-Type R and some Mercedes AMG model to be specific. I have an interest in almost all types of cars but there's a select few I could see myself with even though I'd like to actually drive a lot more. Really the tech of cars that gets me. Even classics. How technologically advanced they were etc.

What will I drive irl? We're still looking but kind of set on a Hyundai Veloster Turbo.

I AM a car guy. I passed my test a couple months before my 17th birthday. I like muscle cars, classic cars and sporty 2 door coupes. Newer cars are not my cup of tea. My daily driver is a Black 1994 F150 Flareside Mark III edition. My summer/fun car is a blue 1986 Mustang coupe with a 4.6l swap. I also have a 1991 Mustang coupe that I am currently putting together as well as a 1967 Mustang coupe that is also a project that I inherited from an uncle that passed away(I haven't even touched this one yet). I also have a 2001 eclipse in my driveway that is for sale(I took this in trade for my girlfriends old Jetta and she currently drives my Durango).

In the game, I'm more into the looks of the cars over performance, however the muscle cars LOOK great, but I don't like to drive them. I lean toward the sports cars and classic sports cars in game, I do not like the supercars.

My first car was a '67 VW Beetle.

My favorite car is a Honda CRX and various classic sports and muscle cars.

The first car I stored in Online was a BF Injection.

One of the last cars I bought online was the Lampadati Tropos Rallye, which is the Lancia Stratos.

In life I hold a few things closer to my heart than others, Animals, Automotives & Design.

Driving would probably be my favorite thing in life to do.

Racing, Driving, the freedom.

The joy of doing 150 in amother state and the speeding ticket being meaningless.

The feeling of adrenaline.

There's nothing greater.

I'm looking and a handful cars to grab as projects.

'70 Mercury Cougar, '60-'61 Galaxie

Any Alfa Romeo roadster pre-1980, any pre-60 Cadillac...

And really everything else I can get a vision of a finished idea. Like a 55 Nomad or something.

Wow, first page and already 3 Fiestas. They seem to be quite popular lol.

I passed my test when i was 18. I currently own a 1997 BMW 540i. I guess my favorite car in GTA right now is the Taurus police interceptor.

I also have an old Fiesta 2005 model and frankly I hate driving. High speed on a highway is quite fun, but driving in the city always gets on my nerves and where I live, roads outside the city are in terrible shape so that's not fun either.

One thing I dislike the most is I can't do anything while driving. On public transport I can watch a movie or do some work on a laptop/tablet. Of course, the car can get you anywhere any time so it's a trade-off but I'm looking forward to proper self-driving cars.

I recreated my Fiesta in GTAO (matte blue Blista with green pearl and similar wheels) and it actually handles quite similar I think.

In GTAO I like to use sports and muscle cars. Massacro is the best, with Banshee and 9F being great in topless versions. And Gauntlet is my fav muscle, dunno what people have against it.

Recently I've used a couple of heavier cars: Diamond and Huntley S. Not bad.

I don't like cars that look like starships. Adder is the only super that looks acceptable to me, although of course Infernus is cool of course.

I'm 19 and have my full driving license for just shy of a year now. Currently driving a Toyota Glanza turbo. I'm also using the car as a bit of a project as well. I've always been big into car modifying since a young age :D .

When it comes to cars in GTA, I'm more of a looks over performance guy. A lot of the cars that I customize on GTA, I try to resemble them as best as possible of their real life counterparts.

Got my licensee when i was 18 (minimal age here), had 4 cars since then, still own 2.

A 1989 golf mk2 hobby project, swapped the engine myself for an 20v 1.8t from an audi a3.

And a 2002 passat.

I buy cars in gta based on looks.

Dont care how slow they are, if i like it ill buy it.

I passed my driving licence in 1985, and my first car was a Triumph Dolomite. It cost 800 Pounds and had a top speed of 88 mph, downhill, lol.

Something like this:

fs2uriU.jpg

I'm thinking a cross between a Glendale and an Asea, I dunno?

Do I own anything similar in GTA online? No.

To me, the point of GTA online is to have all the cars, bikes, vans and trucks you CAN'T drive or afford in real life, I guess.

I guess you could call me a car guy. Got my license 13 years ago.

I bought my first vehicle when I was 13 and have owned many since then, including a '57 Chevy, '72 Mach 1, '67 Mustang coupe, '78 Dodge pickup, '10 Mustang GT, many sh*tbox throwaway cars, a turbo Volvo, a '14 Focus, and many more that I can't even remember.

I have spent my entire life pursuing automotive interests. I was a mechanic in the army for 7 years. I was a tow truck/push truck/staff at a local dirt track, and drag strip for a year. I am a 5 time bracket race event winner. I raced street stock class on dirt track for a few races. I have hotlapped several world famous courses, like Nurburgrung, Hockenheimring, Pikes Peak, etc. I have done several auto cross events including the famous Good Guys autocross. Let's see. I have roughly 5000 drag strip passes in multiple cars under my belt.

I am ASE certified, work at a GM dealership primarily as a Cadillac technician. I also attend Nascar Technical Institute, where I am a 4.0 GPA student.

Also, my Mach 1 made it onto a calendar one time years ago.

Probably forgetting some stuff, but yeah, I guess I fall into the car guy category. As you can probably tell, my preference for cars in game leans torwards classics and muscle cars, but I can appreciate most vehicles.

Cool thread, I have an interesting driving/GTA story that I'll share.

I started playing GTA on III in 2001 with my older brother, I would have been 7. Hooked immediately and have been playing GTA ever since.

I got my license at 16, the first day I could, this would have been during GTA IV. I remember taking a break from GTA for about 8 months when I got my license. I had played a lot of IV and felt a break was needed while I explored my city that summer. When I came back, after having been away for some time driving real cars, I noticed a significant difference in how I drove in GTA. I could see more, I knew where to look in the distance, I could better plan to avoid traffic and accidents. I remember taking the police stinger down that long street in Algonquin from Luis' house to the south of the island and found myself going full pop without issue, where before I would have crashed numerous times.

Driving in real life made me a better driver in game because it taught me where to look, how to act accordingly, and how to recover. Very interesting.

I've owned a number of cars, mostly VW's. Currently I drive a 2015 Mustang GT and I do NOT have a dominator in game because it's a terrible car to drive and based off the last generation Mustang.
